There is life above flat, endless Patagonia.
These are the mountains and foothills of the Andes Cordillera, where vines, snow, olive trees and cacti, llamas and cows, plane trees and palm trees live together under the same pure sky… Mirage or miracle of nature? The altitude is increasing rapidly, the air is rarer, clearer, saturating the pigments of the multi coloured rocks. Few people live in this part of the world, but they live an independent life and fight to preserve their living conditions, isolated from urbanization, in communion with nature.

On Deep canyons cut into the Andes cordillera from the north to the south of Peru. In order to supply the gold mines, tend their vines or quite simply gain access to their villages, people have no choice but to take the most improbable of roads, hewn out of the rock. Major companies always find their place at the end of the road, attracted by the fabulous natural resources of the country, either under the ground with its wealth of precious metals or in its waters teeming with fish. However, it’s rare for all this wealth to benefit the lowly workers, the men and women who have to bend double to work deep in the shafts, scratching at the earth amidst clouds of ammonia, or risk their lives at the end of a 200’ rope, for a handful of euros. From the Maranon River valley to the Cotahuasi canyon, by way of the Paracas desert, this Impossible Road makes its way through a Peru of magnificent landscapes, but where life comes at a high price…

The Andes or Andean Mountains (Spanish: Cordillera de los Andes) are the longest continental mountain range in the world, forming a continuous highland along the western edge of South America. This range is about 7,000 km (4,300 mi) long, about 200 to 700 km (120 to 430 mi) wide (widest between 18° south and 20° south latitude), and of an average height of about 4,000 m (13,000 ft). The Andes extend from north to south through seven South American countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.

The Patagonian Expedition is a 95% self funded video documentary project following my trip in 2012/2013. Our aim is to show you the beauty of the rather unknown parts in Patagonia alongside with the famous spots.
Beside beautiful landscape you can expect loads of information and our personal experiences and struggles along the way.
The whole trip was executed over the course of 2 months using mostly local transport such as busses, cars and trucks. A big thank you goes to Lufthansa for providing the flights into and out of South America in their new Premium Economy Class!

CROSSING the ANDES MOUNTAINS into ARGENTINA! - ep22
Yo we are on our way to Argentina from Chile over the Andes mountains on the motorcycle! Told you were traveling somewhere. Going to Mendoza and crossing into Argentina in Los Andes. The Uspallata Pass has so many winding roads up the mountain that I lost count halfway. What a treat to ride the motorbike up that massive mountain! On the Argentinian side the Andes look even more stunning and I get that all too familiar desert vibe. On my way to renew my visa and see my friends in Mendoza while they are there. First serious riding since I've arrived in South America and it is absolutely glorious. What a great day and got lucky with the police towards the end. Second country in South America and arrive in warm Mendoza in the evening. Ready for that Argentine life!

The Andes, Andes Mountains or Andean Mountains are the longest continental mountain range in the world, forming a continuous highland along the western edge of South America. The range is 8,900 km (5,530 mi) long, 200 to 700 km (124 to 435 mi) wide (widest between 18°S – 20°S latitude), and has an average height of about 4,000 m (13,123 ft). The Andes extend from north to south through seven South American countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina.
