The BEST Piece of Advice as a Beginner Underwater Photographer
As Director of Social Media Marketing at Ikelite, Denise Pietsch knows a thing or two about underwater photography. But even she found it challenging to hit the water and start knocking out award winning photos right away. Here she shares the one piece of advice that made things click and turn her underwater photography blues into golds.
Denise was shooting the Olympus Tough TG-6 camera in an Ikelite Underwater Housing with two DS51 strobes in TTL mode with RC1 TTL Receivers.

Denise Pietsch (pronounced “Peach”) currently manages Ikelite’s Photo School and social media presence. Denise hails from New Jersey, where she obtained a degree in Dance Therapy. After years teaching dance she migrated into the corporate world and eventually came around to Ikelite via the natural career path of fruit distribution and early childhood development. In the end, her lifelong love of photography and octopuses combined into the work she does now. In addition to sharing her energy and enthusiasm with the underwater community she also manages social media for her dog, Joe, collects vinyl records, and enjoys creating memories with her friends and family.

Aaron shot this surf photograph during the last few seconds of the day, as the last sun rays were shining through the back of the wave. The colors and incredible detail of dancing water makes this image extraordinary.
