Travelling During the Coronavirus Pandemic - UK to Italy - What was it like.

Are you living in the UK and thinking about travelling during the coronavirus pandemic? If so, don't miss this video!

I know that COVID-19 has made everyone wary of travelling. But with the pandemic controlled in some countries and travel restrictions lifted, traveling safely during this unprecedented time is still possible.

In this video I’m going to show you how was my trip from Oxford to Venice.

What it is like to take a bus, an airport train and a flight during the coronavirus pandemic.

You will also see how's staying in a hotel, use the public transport and visit tourist attractions during the pandemic.

While considering travelling during the COVID pandemic, bear in mind that:

Many people are still reluctant to travel. So you can expect fewer people at airports, on airplanes, buses, trains, and tourist spots.

Some airline tickets are non-refundable, however, most of the airlines are ditching change fees.

Check the airline’s refund and cancellation policy before hitting the button Book.

To enter in some countries, such as Cyprus, you need to provide a negative test on arrival, obtained within 72h before travel.

You must ensure you are aware of any additional travel documents you need for every country you fly to. Please check what’s required with local authorities before you travel. Some airlines, such as Ryanair, also provide this information.

Some points of interest are closed during the pandemic, while others are operating with limited time and capacity. Always check beforehand.

You may need to buy tickets in advance and for a specific time slot when visiting a heritage site, landmark building, etc. Check their website for further information.

You must be up to date with the government guidelines of the place that you’re travelling to and follow its recommendations.

Face mask is a must-have item, so make sure to always carry a comfortable one. You might need to wear it for long hours whilst travelling.

Travelling during the coronavirus pandemic is highly unpredictable. At any moment, travel restrictions and quarantine can be placed, boarders can be closed and flights can be cancelled. Be flexible with your plans and don’t get frustrated if you can’t travel.

Below are some tips to help you plan your trip during the pandemic:

Check your government travel advisory and follow it’s advice;

Look for destinations, hotels, and tours operators that are following COVID-19 safety guidelines;

Seek out countries where COVID-19 case numbers are low;

Book everything in advance and without cancelation/change fees;

Get at the airport earlier than usual;

Make sure to buy travel insurance that covers COVID-19;

Take good care of yourself.

If you follow this advice and take the necessary precautions, I believe you will be more confident, and safe, when you plan your next trip.

If you need to further information, please check my post: Travelling During the Coronavirus Pandemic: What You Need to Know

Airport Precautions In Corona | Flights In Corona | Covid-19 | Flight Journey New Rules for Lockdown

If you are planning to take to the skies soon, check out the video to understand the safety guidelines to follow when you travel. Issued by the Airports Authority of India.

Domestic flights will start operating in India on May 25. Airlines will operate 33% of their flights. But passengers will have to brace themselves for a completely new airport experience.
Before entering the airport
Passengers should get to the airport two hours ahead of their flights.
They will have to wear masks at all times. It is mandatory for web check-in before reaching the airport.
They will compulsorily undergo thermal screening before entering the airport.
Passengers, except children under the age of 14, will have to show officials that they are marked as safe on the Aarogya Setu app or produce a self-declaration form.

In the airport

Floor markers in the terminal will guide passengers on where to stand.
This is to maintain physical distancing.
Self check-in kiosks will allow passengers to print boarding passes.
For those who prefer traditional check-in, alternate counters, enclosed in glass, will be available.
After airline staff enter passenger details, passes can be collected from a machine.
Only one check-in bag and one cabin bag will be allowed.
After completing security procedures, passengers can sit in marked seats while waiting to board.
Stamping of boarding passes too will be done away with.
Passengers should collect a safety kit which includes a mask and sanitiser near the boarding gate.

In the aircraft

Passengers are advised to minimise the use of toilets and avoid queuing.
Only one person will be allowed to accompany children and elderly to the toilet.
No meal services, newspapers and magazines will be available.
Only water bottles will be made available. Passengers will not be allowed to consume their own eatables either.

On arrival

Passengers will disembark sequentially and will undergo temperature screening.
Health protocols as prescribed by the destination States/ UTs would have to be followed by arriving passengers.

With steady progress in our economy and domestic flights becoming operational from May 2020, it’s imperative that we should learn to embrace this new flying experience and strictly follow new set of protocols laid down by the Government of India.

These set of guidelines describes some generic measures which are helpful during flying journey from any airport and but are specifically curated keeping in mind the departure city as Delhi NCR. So, some rules could be very specific, as per Delhi airport guidelines.

Please refer below stages of flying described in video:

3. Baggage drop at check-in counter
4. Security check and social distance in queues
5. Collecting safety kits and boarding process
6. Arrival at destination.

In addition to above, some dos & don’ts are also described in video, such as:
Dos –
1. Wearing mask and social distance in queues is compulsory
2. Use Aarogya Setu App to certify health status

Donts –
