Capital of the Marshall Islands
Majuro is the capital and largest city of the Marshall Islands. It is also a large coral atoll of 64 islands in the Pacific Ocean.
It forms a legislative district of the Ratak Chain of the Marshall Islands. The atoll has a land area of 9.7 square kilometres and encloses a lagoon of 295 square kilometres.

2019 SHORT TRIP TO MAJURO IN THE REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS
It was a short and unexpected trip to the RMI, but we managed to get some cool footage. As we were dumping some of the footage, they were not done downloading...(sigh) long story short, we lost most of the footage. It is unfortunate, but we still plan on going back to Majuro soon. The Marshall Islands are a sprawling chain of volcanic islands and coral atolls in the central Pacific Ocean, between Hawaii and the Philippines.
In the northwest, Bikini Atoll’s largely undisturbed waters, used as a ship graveyard after World War II, are now a popular wreck dive site. Near Majuro Atoll, which holds the islands' capital and largest settlement, the coral reef at Kalalin Pass teems with marine life.

Bikini Atoll in Majuro, Marshall Islands
Bikini Atoll, sometimes known as Eschscholtz Atoll between the 1800s and 1946, is a coral reef in the Marshall Islands consisting of 23 islands surrounding a 594.1 km2 central lagoon. The atoll's inhabitants were relocated in 1946, after which the islands and lagoon were the site of 23 nuclear tests by the United States until 1958.
The atoll is at the northern end of the Ralik Chain, approximately 850 kilometres northwest of the capital Majuro. Three families were resettled on Bikini island in 1970, totaling about 100 residents. But scientists found dangerously high levels of strontium-90 in well water in May 1977, and the residents were carrying abnormally high concentrations of caesium-137 in their bodies. They were removed in 1980. The atoll is occasionally visited today by divers and a few scientists, and is occupied by a handful of caretakers.

전통카누를 만드는 학교. 실업문제가 심각한 이곳에 일자리를 만들고 문화계승도 하기 위해 한 NGO단체가 설립한 곳이다. 예전에는 판다누스 나무로 이음새를 만들었는데 현재 그 자리를 천이 대신한 걸 빼곤 수천 년간 축적된 조상의 지혜가 전승되고 있다. 이 학교를 졸업하면 관광객을 상대로 카누체험을 진행할 수 있는 자격이 부여되는데 수입이 꽤 괜찮다고한다. 40여명이 탈 수 있는 이 카누는 바다에서 한 달 동안이나 항해가 가능했다고한다. 학생들의 항해 실습시간. 삼각돛을 이용한 카누는 바람의 방향에 따라 자유자재로 항해가 가능하다. 수상스키를 타듯 바다를 누비는 전통카누는 19세기 이곳을 방문한 많은 유럽인이 감탄할 정도로 빠른 속도와 방향전환능력을 갖고 있다.
