This wonderful palace looks like taken straight from a fairy-tale, with all of its bright colors, decorative exteriors and lovely nooks and niches. No wonder it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located on the top of a hill, it offers splendid views of the whole city.
The town of Sintra makes for a great day trip from Lisbon. Easily accessible via train.

Praça do Comércio is a vast waterfront square, where the royal palace stood until the 1755 Great Earthquake. It is one of the most renowned squares in Lisbon and its location near the Tagus river makes it also one of the most beautiful places to stroll around. The square is home to some important historical sights. One of its dominants is the Triumphal Arch, depicting allegorical figures of Glory, Genius and Bravery. The top of the arch can be accessed and it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Also worth mentioning is a bronze statue of King Joseph I, installed in the center of the square.

Baixa Lisbon Portugal 360º Video May 2022
Lisbon is a city of many hills nestled on and in the hills are the many neighborhoods of Portugal. On this day in May of 2022 I walked the streets early before people really started to come out to give you this 360º view of part of the neighborhood.
On this walk we start behind the Arco da Augusta and walk through it and into the Praça do Comercia plaza. We walk around the plaze and see the Estáta Equestria de D. Jòse I. We then walk past the Igreja de conceiçá velha church. All around you can see the colorful row houses of this area.
This video is uploaded in a full 360º format. Depending on your device you can either drag your finger around the scene to reposition the view and see what is around or click and hold your mouse while dragging.

Alfama, considered to be the oldest part of the city, is a district full of historical buildings and mediaeval narrow streets. This emblematic quarter has served as an ispiration for many poets and novelists and it also had a huge influence on many Fado songs. Fado is a traditional portuguese music genre and Alfama is home to many cosy Fado restaurants and bars. Historical sights to visit in this neighborhood include Lisbon Cathedral, Monastery of São Vicente de Fora, and Church of Santa Engrácia. If you want to get the best panoramic view of this quarter, together with the São Jorge Castle, head to Miradouro de Santa Luzia.

St. George's Castle, an example of Moorish architecture, stands on the highest hill of Portugal and dates back to the 10th century although the excavations show that first fortifications were built here much earlier. It served as a royal residence in the past and now it is open to all visitors who want to learn about the city's history. It is also popular for the great views of the surrounding historical centre of the city. You should not miss a permanent exhibition housed in the palace, that intorduces culture and lifestyle from the 7th century BC through various archaeological artefacts.

Portugal 2020 360 VR 4K
** See chapter markers below ** Our Portugal trip of September 2nd to 22nd of 2020. We decided the week before to go ahead with the trip since at that time the cases were lower and the country has been very strict on the Covid rules. Booked the flights and AirBnb's and off we went. Only about 30 people on the plane going and back. Portuguese people are proud, clean and respectful. Best decision we ever did.
