In todays Mexico travel vlog we are exploring the Pueblo Magico Tapijulapa Tabasco Mexico! Located 2 hours south of Villahermosa Tabasco, Tapijulapa could be Tabasco Mexico’s BEST kept secret a true Mexican Paradise!
Tapijulapa Tabasco is a small pueblo known for its white washed walls and red tiled roofs. It’s set amongst the Sierras of Tabasco on the banks of two rivers in a beautiful jungle setting. Near the town lies Villa Luz, and ecological park known for its cascades, caves, and unique colored water!
Since Tapijulapa is off the beaten path, we couldn’t find much information about it, i.e. we have no plan - but hope to find a guide to take us around and show us the area! Come along with us as we figure it all out with you and have A LOT of fun along the way!
We definitely recommend visiting Tabasco Mexico just to go to the Pueblo Magico Tapijulapa Tabasco and witness the beautiful waterfalls at Villa Luz.

Campeche City is the capital of Campeche State, one of three states making up the Yucatan Peninsula with a city population of 221,000 inhabitants. Campeche was founded in 1540 by Spanish conquistadores as San Francisco de Campeche atop the pre-existing Maya city of Can Pech. Campeche was terrorized by pirates and marauders until the city began to build its fortifications in 1686. The city still has the appearance of a fortress. Many tourists are attracted by historical monuments and buildings, such as the Franciscan cathedral, old Maya ruins and the old city walls and forts. Villanueva State Park - New Mexico State Park
Villanueva State Park was the Two Tired Teachers final New Mexico State Park. Located between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, it seemed the perfect park to go to either or both cities.
The campsites are well shaded on the level where we stayed. The ones up higher have fewer or no trees. The picnic tables are covered with adobe structures to keep the sun off.
This pretty park is made up of several small loops. Unlike many TX state parks, the loops may have some sites with water and electricity, some with water only, and some with no hook ups. The campsites on the bluff have water nearby. And one loop is for tent camping.
Trails run throughout Villanueva State Park. A nice easy trail runs through the campground to the Pecos River, which runs through the park.. The trail on the mountain side of the park is more strenuous and the elevation does increase as you climb up the trail. Other trails are also in the park.
The park does have a playground with swings and a slide. It also has structures that kids can climb on.
The town of Villanueva is very small. A store is in town, but it looked as if the supplies would be limited. Be sure you have adequate supplies because the nearest town is probably an hour away.
One word of caution is about the drive to the park. One part of the small road is extremely winding. That part is only about a mile and a half long, but it feels much longer.
A sign on I 40 directs you to the exit and to the park. The Two Tired Teachers enjoyed our time at Villanueva State Park in Villanueva, New Mexico.

La Gruta in the Pecos River Valley Villanueva, NM
Villanueva is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in San Miguel County, New Mexico, United States. Known as La Cuesta until 1890, it is located along the Pecos River and New Mexico State Road 3.
Prior to 1786, when a peace treaty was concluded with the Comanche, Spanish settlements in New Mexico were confined to the Rio Grande valley. The reduced threat from Comanche raids permitted the expansion eastwards of Spanish settlements onto the Great Plains. Villanueva was one of the settlements founded in the Pecos River Valley as part of that expansion. A principal reason for founding the Pecos Valley settlements was to defend the Spanish and Pueblan settlements in the Rio Grande valley from raids by Apache and other Indian peoples.

Villanueva State Park is nestled between high sandstone bluffs that form a canyon along the Pecos River. Camp or picnic under the shade of cottonwood trees. Enjoy fishing, birding, wildflower viewing, or hiking the trails along the canyon walls.

I was so closely connected to, and could feel joy of marvel eager to unravel itself at the first sight of the river below. An ultimate October afternoon. Wading through the river, the immensity of its sensation, I could spend a lifetime walking in step with her watery flow; discovering her infinite patterns of rocks and design. The skies above, majestic, of the truest blue do New Mexico skies offer, along with their eternal transparency of colors merely appearing within their array; an endless shape-shift opening the imagination to fold itself so effortlessly into the mystery prevailing.

I followed the rim around to a point overlooking the entrance of the park and the valley between the State Park and the village of Villanueva. Day trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and a Epic Fail in the Mountains
I go on a day trip to explore Santa Fe, New Mexico by foot. We visit the historic plaza, the Loretto Chapel and it's miraculous staircase, the St. Francis Cathedral, Artsy Canyon Road, and the oldest house in the United States. Then I get lost in the mountains looking for the Tent Rocks, and the road was closed.
