We're continuing our British Isles cruise on Holland America Line's Nieuw Statendam and today we're stopping in Liverpool, England. This is our veruy first time to Liverpool and we can't wait to explore this city.
Come with us as we make our way around the Liverpool Waterfront, from the cruise ship port to the Beatle's statue and on to Royal Albert Dock.
As we walk around the city we eventually make our way through the city to Baltic Market we have some craft beer and steam buns.

La Avenida 27 de Febrero es una de las vías principales de la ciudad de Santo Domingo y la arteria vial más importante del Distrito Nacional, el cual cruza de este a oeste en su parte central. Su nombre conmemora la fecha de la independencia dominicana.
La avenida comienza en el Puente Juan Bosch y atraviesa la ciudad hasta llegar a la rotonda de la Plaza de la Bandera, en la intersección con la Avenida Gregorio Luperón, desde donde parte su prolongación hasta el municipio de Santo Domingo Oeste y termina en el kilómetro 13 de la Autopista Duarte.
El primer aeropuerto con el que contó la ciudad de Santo Domingo fue el de Miraflores en la década de los años 30tas. Posteriormente para el Centenario de La Independencia Nacional en 1944 se inauguró el Aeropuerto General Andrews, el mismo estaba ubicado a escasos kilómetros de lo que en aquel entonces era el centro de la ciudad (donde hoy funciona el Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte), ocasionando un problema de seguridad.
En la década de 1950 Rafael Leónidas Trujillo buscó la ayuda de urbanistas italianos y franceses y comenzó la construcción de un nuevo, gigantesco y moderno Aeropuerto a las afueras de la ciudad de Santo Domingo.
La construcción de la misma a principios de la década del 50 se originó por la caída de un avión carguero en el farallón al norte de la avenida Pedro Henríquez Ureña en el patio de la residencia de Marina Trujillo, entre la Ave. Tiradentes y la Abraham Lincoln.
En 1955, el dictador ordenó oficialmente la construcción de un nuevo aeropuerto situado en la península de Punta Caucedo, a varios kilómetros al este de la ciudad. La construcción de la actual terminal se inició en 1956 y su puesta en servicio fue en 1958, siendo inaugurada oficialmente el 10 de noviembre de 1959.
Esa terminal de pasajeros inaugurada por Trujillo es la actual terminal de carga situada al norte de la actual. Posteriormente en 1969 el gobierno del Dr. Joaquín Balaguer inauguró lo que se conoce hoy como terminal vieja, diseñada por el arquitecto Fred Goico.
En 1992 para el Quinto Centenario del Descubrimiento de América, el mismo Dr. Joaquín Balaguer en su gobierno de 10 años, inauguró la nueva terminal y el satélite que posteriormente fueron ensanchados por la compañía privada que regentea el aeropuerto actualmente, haciendo un conjunto .

Firefly Estate, Noel Coward's Jamaica House is located east of Oracabessa, in St Mary, Jamaica (Caribbean).

The Jamaica home and burial place of British Playwright Sir Noel Coward.
It is now listed as a National Heritage Site by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust
The site was originally owned by the infamous pirate and one-time governor of Jamaica, Sir Henry Morgan (1635-1688).
Cabarita Lookout Villa (Bottom-right in focus. Not Firefly Estate)
Firefly then, was called Look Out by the famous pirate Henry Morgan because it had been used for that purpose.
The property offered a commanding view of the Port Maria Harbour, and Morgan used it as a lookout.
Also a part of the hideaway, Morgan dug a secret escape tunnel.
Noel Coward discovered the site while on an excursion in the area.
He purchased the property and built the house which now stands on it.
He renamed it Firefly Hill because of the little glowing insects seen on the property.
In Jamaica, fireflies are called “blinkies” or “peenie wallies.”
Sir Coward died at Firefly on 26 March 1973, at age 73, after having written many of his famous plays there.
The stone hut on the lawn was once a lookout for Henry Morgan, then converted to a bar by Sir Noel. It is now a gift shop and restaurant.
Coward is buried under a marble slab in the garden, near the spot where he would sit at dusk watching the sun set as he sipped his brandy with ginger ale chaser and looked out to sea.
He was buried on his favorite spot!

The house, built in 1956, often entertained jet-setters and royalty.
Firefly Estate is a perfect wedding destination.
Paintings and photographs of his coterie of famous friends, such as Laurence Olivier, Errol Flynn and Marlene Dietrich are at the Firefly Art Studio/Museum.
Coward wrote in his diary: Firefly has given me the most valuable benison of all: time to read and write and think and get my mind in order . . . I love this place, it deeply enchants me. Whatever happens to this silly world, nothing much is likely to happen here.
Writing, he believed, came easier when he was here.
He continued the sentences seemed to construct themselves, the right adjectives appeared discretely at the right moment. Firefly has magic for me. . .
On one of Firefly's walls is written his last poem. It begins:
When I have fears, as Keats had fears,
Of the moment I'll cease to be,
I console myself with vanished years,
Remembered laughter, remembered tears,
And the peace of the changing sea.

Es uno de los lugares favoritos de las parejas que vienen aquí para pasar un momento tranquilo en medio de un vecindario bullicioso.
