???????? Mexico TRAVEL 2020 | TULA DE ALLENDE, Hidalgo | The BEST BARBACOA EVER! | Mexican Food

???????? TULA DE ALLENDE, HIDALGO, MEXICO - Welcome back to another Mexico Travel video! This is part 3 of my Mexico Travel 2020 series as we head to Tula de Allende, Hidalgo, north of Mexico City.

Hidalgo is known from its relationship with England, particularly in Pachuca and Real del Monte, which I visited in 2019. Tula, to the west of the state of Hidalgo, is well known from its Toltec archaeological sire (currently closed in 2020 due to Covid-19), and its amazing authentic Comida Mexicana (Mexican Food) including carnitas (little meats) and quite possibly the best barbacoa in Mexico.

Barbacoa is essentially barbequed meat, usually sheep, goat or cow that is slow-cooked in a whole in the ground. In this video, we have barbacoa consome (like soup) containing chickpeas alongside two ginormous tacos de barbacoa!

The next video is also from Hidalgo, in Cruz Azul!

Mexico: Tula | Vibe Adventures

Tollan-Xicocotitlan, now known as the Tula Archaeological Zone, was the capital of the Toltec state and the most influential urban center in the central zone of the country and is currently most famous for its Atlantean stone-caved figures.

Tula

Tula is a Mesoamerican archeological site, which was an important regional center which reached its height as the capital of the Toltec Empire between the fall of Teotihuacan and the rise of Tenochtitlan. It has not been well studied in comparison to these other two sites, and disputes remain as to its political system, area of influence and its relations with contemporary Mesoamerican cities, especially with Chichen Itza. The site is located in the city of Tula de Allende in the Tula Valley, in what is now the southwest of the Mexican state of Hidalgo, northwest of Mexico City. The archeological site consists of a museum, remains of an earlier settlement called Tula Chico as well as the main ceremonial site called Tula Grande. The main attraction is the Pyramid of Quetzalcoatl which is topped by four, four metre high basalt columns carved in the shape of Toltec warriors. Tula fell around 1150, but it had significant influence in the following Aztec Empire, with its history written about heavily in myth. The feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl is linked to this city, whose worship was widespread from central Mexico to Central America at the time the Spanish arrived.(Bron: wiki)

Grutas de Tolantongo MEXICO! | Worth it? | Mexico City Day Trip Guide | Hidalgo, MX Travel Vlog 2022

Travel Vlog #102 | Grutas de Tolantongo, Mexico (Hidalgo, Mexico)

***Book a guided group tour here!*** -
***If you want a private tour, book here*** -

Today we are back in Mexico City and heading on a day trip! We set out early in the morning to head to a still somewhat hidden area - Grutas de Tolantongo in Hidalgo! These are hot baths naturally heated from the earth by a nearby (dormant) volcano. The area has been built up with pools, restaurants, and hotels, and this is the perfect Mexico City day trip!
We started out by seeing the sunrise and visiting a breakfast stop on the side of the road. We had some delicious quesadillas with chicken and mole!.
Our guide was one of the best parts of this day trip to Tolantongo hot springs, and he knew all of the best spots. Our first special stop was a scenic viewpoint to appreciate the mountains of Hidalgo. After our car (and ourselves) were sanitized, we were in!
From there, we first visited a tunnel with water coming out of every crevice. It was warm and felt amazing since it was cooler outside! Mexico is known in tourism as being a warm weather destination, but this area of Mexico is quite cool out, since it's in the mountains at a higher elevation. Coming out of the warm tunnel into the cold air was quite a shock!
After a freezing (but fun) walk across a suspension bridge, we finally headed to the hot spring pools! There are so many different pools and levels, you could spend hours exploring the whole area, but sadly we didn't have that much time. We chose first to visit a pool with a direct view of the mountains, which was beautiful, and then we headed to a higher pool. The higher the pool, the warmer the water. We sat up at the top for a while and enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL scenery.
After we were done at the pools we headed to the tunnels and cave! The way the entrance to the cave looks is one of the most unique things we've ever seen. The cave and tunnel have some of the warmest water since they're the highest up! For lunch, we visited the onsite restaurant. They had traditional Mexican dishes and everything was delicious. To end our time at Grutas de Tolantongo, we headed to the river as our last stop. Our gopro died shortly after getting in the water, but we recommend the river for sure!

The Search for Quezalcoatl, Tula Hidalgo

I have been studying about the legend of Quezalcoatl, which is regularly talked about by those in the know about Pre Hispanic culture. Different variations of the Quezalcoatl story go from North America to South America. The legend was of a great king who brought knowledge and peace to all, but then he left, but he said he would come back one day. In this episode we learn go to Tula, Hidalgo, Mexico and learn about a ruler named Quezalcoatl Topiltzin, who led the Toltecs into a golden age that later the Aztecs would claim as their origin story.
