Como foi a viagem de barco de Santarém a Manaus pelo Rio Amazonas - maio 2023 - fb Madame Crys
Como foi a viagem de barco entre Santarém e Manaus, pelo Rio Amazonas, em um deslocamento considerado o mais rápido entre as duas cidades da Amazônia.
De Santarém, no Pará, a Manaus, no estado do Amazonas, numa linha tradicional do transporte fluvial da região Norte, onde os rios tem o peso de rodovias em outros estados da federação.
A nossa viagem iniciou às 10 horas, do dia 10 de maio. O ferryboat Madame Crys, depois de desatracar do porto do Terminal Hidroviário de Santarém, partiu na direção de Manaus, com navegação em seu maior tempo pelo Rio Amazonas. De informação qualificada o tempo de viagem, já que o Madame Crys faz esse percurso em 30 horas (no sentido Manaus a Santarém, 24h) que é uma viagem bem mais rápida do que a maior parte das embarcações dessa linha faz.

Santarém ( AFI : [sɐ̃taˈɾẽj] ) is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pará , the third most populous in the state , behind only the capital, Belém and Ananindeua , being the main urban , financial , commercial and cultural center in the west of the state.
It is the seat of the Metropolitan Region of Santarém , the second largest urban agglomeration in Pará. It belongs to the Lower Amazon mesoregion and the microregion of the same name . It is located at the confluence of the Tapajós and Amazon rivers . Located about 800 km from the metropolises of the Amazon ( Manaus and Belém), it was poetically known as the Pearl of Tapajós .
In 2021, its population was estimated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) at 308,339 inhabitants, making it the third most populous municipality in Pará, the eighth most populous in the North Region, and the 91st most populous municipality in Brazil. [ 3 ] It occupies an area of 22,887,080 km², of which 97 km² are in the urban perimeter . [ 6 ]
Founded on June 22, 1661 , it is one of the oldest cities in the Amazon region. In 1758 it was elevated to town status and almost a century later, as a result of its notable development, it was elevated to city status on October 24 , 1848 . [ 7 ] [ 8 ] It is included in the plan of historic cities in Brazil , being one of the oldest and culturally significant cities in Pará.
Because of the crystalline waters of the Tapajós River, it has more than 100 kilometers of beaches that are more like the sea. This is the case of Alter do Chão, known as the Brazilian Caribbean and chosen by the English newspaper The Guardian as one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil and the most beautiful freshwater beach in the world. There is the stage of one of the biggest folklore events in the region, Çairé, which attracts tourists from all over the world. [ 9 ] According to 2017 data, it boasts a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of R$ 4.8 billion, [ 5 ] being the sixth municipality with the highest GDP in the state.

Manaus to Parintins, day 1
This is the first part of our boat journey to Parintins from Manaus. We were collected in small launches and taken to our boats, which, unlike many of those we'd seen departed the day before (full of thousands of revellers sleeping in hammocks slung every whichway), were absolutely luxurious, with air-conditioned cabins with en-suite bathrooms, a luxurious bar, and fantastic catering staff.
We were absolutely ecstatic just to be on board, finding it almost unbelievable that we really were there, really were headed to this place that for us had achieved an almost mythical status; a place we'd always said one day we'll go without ever really believing it'd ever be possible to make it happen.
Yet there we were. Giles was so overcome with joy he had to give a spontaneous hug to Rodolpho, our excellent tour organiser and guide.
As we proceeded down the Amazon the daylight transitioned via a beautiful sunset into a deep, dark night. Far from any towns as we were, in the middle of the Amazon River, there was zero light pollution. The Milky Way arched over us from horizon to horizon, the sky filled with a blazing glory of unfamiliar stars.
