This video is about Nazaré-Portugal, The city with the world record waves in the world. Nazaré is a very popular surfing destination because of the very high breaking waves that form due to the presence of the underwater Nazaré Canyon, therefor it attracts visitors to surf and also viewing points for surfing competitions.
This beautiful city is also famous for its seafood restaurant and dried fish. It is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Silver Coast (Costa de Prata).
The town of Nazaré consists of three neighborhoods: Praia (along the beach), Sítio (an old village, on top of a cliff), and Pederneira (another old village, on a hilltop). Praia and Sítio are linked by the Nazaré Funicular, a funicular railway.
Nazaré also has an interesting miraculous event for the Virgin Mary apparition in 1182.

The Algarve is the southernmost region of continental Portugal. Thanks to its year-round sunny weather and beautiful rugged coastline, it’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in all of Europe. In this video we highlight 10 diverse places to visit in the Algarve:
10. Sagres
Sitting at the westernmost tip of the Algarve, Sagres is the wildest and most untamed destination. Windswept, barren landscapes, towering cliffs, and rough waters are what set this place apart.
9. Portimão
Visit the Portimão museum if you want to learn more about its fishing and canning tradition, or go to the medieval Fort of Santa Catarina de Ribamar for panoramic views. But the biggest draw is undoubtedly Portimão’s nearby Praia da Rocha.
8. Faro & Ria Formosa
From cobblestone streets and cozy squares to a wide range of lagoons and wetlands, Faro boasts a blend of city and nature activities. We really enjoyed a boat tour in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, which is home to canals, marshland and small islands.

7. Aljezur & West Coast Beaches
With wide-open beaches and sheer sea cliffs, the West Coast of the Algarve is a true hidden gem. It’s also another prime destination for surfing. We recommend Arrifana Beach if you’re a beginner or intermediate surfer.
6. Fishermen’s Village Ferragudo
With its white houses reaching down to the river, walking around this authentic fishing town is an experience in itself. But Praia Grande is also a great place to relax and enjoy watersports.
5. Lagos & Ponta da Piedade
Lagos has a wide range of cafés and restaurants to choose from, but also some historical sights, such as castle walls, churches, and a fort. Combine this with its spectacular coastline, filled with steep cliffs, caves, and grottoes, and you’ve got one of the most scenic destinations in the Algarve.

4. Serra de Monchique
Apart from beautiful beaches, the Algarve is also home to a rolling mountain range. The town of Monchique lies in pristine nature, surrounded by lush green forests. It’s an idyllic and authentic mountain town with sweeping vistas and a network of nature trails.

3. Silves
This historic town cascades down the hill, flowing out from beneath the beautiful Silves Castle (Castelo de Silves). Enjoy your time learning about the town’s history inside the castle walls as well as on the cobbled streets surrounding it.
2. The 7 Hanging Valleys
This 12km out-and-back hike takes between 4 to 6 hours to complete if you do the full route, and includes views of the Atlantic ocean as well as limestone rock formations. There is some elevation gain and loss as you climb up and down each of the valleys, but overall the hike is easy to moderate.
1. Benagil Cave
The Benagil Cave is a world-class natural attraction in the Algarve. Although it’s only a short distance from Benagil Beach, you still need a kayak, stand up paddle board, or guided boat tour to reach the caves safely.

We went on a day trip to Nazaré, Portugal. A beach town a 1.5 hour drive from Lisbon that’s known for it’s whopping great waves ????
The ‘big wave season’ runs between October - March and you can check just how big the waves are gonna be for the days ahead on nazarewaves.com ????????
If you’re lucky enough to be in the area when there’s ‘Giant Waves’ which reach heights of 20-30 metres, keep checking to see if the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge gets announced. It could be at any point between now and the end of the season.
????♀️ It’s a competition where professional surfers will try their luck against huge waves - I would have LOVED to have witnessed it with my own eyes.
It’s also worth saying that Nazaré is just a 2 hour drive down from Porto as well - so it’s definitely one to keep checking on if you’re planning a trip already and this sounds right up your street ????

Today we go to the wave capital of Portugal - Nazare???????? This town has so much to offer - history, landscape, food and much, much more.
Nazare is town and municipality located in Oeste region, in the historical province of Estremadura and in the Leiria district. It is ok in Portugal to be in so many different districts and regions.
Population of Nazare municipality is 14 889 and area 82.43 square kilometers or 31.83 square miles. In Nazare town there are around 10 000 people living.
Nazare is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Silver Coast and consists of three neighbourhoods:
1) Praia - along the beach
2) Sitio - an old village on top of a cliff
3) Pederneira - on other side of the cliff
So place is incredible and you should visit 100% ????????

Nossa primeira parada é na estação de ferro de Nazaré, fundada em 1869 e hoje desativada, mas o local virou um centro #cultural e Artesanal e tem o Maria fumaça dentro do local.

Ao lado um prédio histórico construído no século #XIX , antigo Fórum Edgard Matta, onde se hospedaram D. Pedro II e Rui Barbosa.
Seguimos o tour e paramos na Praça Alexandre Bitencourt, onde fica localizada o prédio da prefeitura e câmara de vereadores da cidade. Patrimônio arquitetônico neoclássico, construído no século XIX, neste local também se hospedaram D. Pedro II e o Rui Barbosa.

Ao lado encontra-se a Igreja da Matriz Nossa Senhora de Nazaré, foi iniciada século XVIII e concluída oitenta anos mais tarde.
Na rua ao lado da igreja já nos deparamos com o Cine teatro Rio Branco, o teatro mais antigo do país ainda em funcionamento.

Continuamos nossa procura pelos pontos históricos da cidade e logo chegamos a Capela de Nossa senhora de Nazaré, local onde também deu origem ao povoado, datada do século XVII, hoje nominada Igreja de São Roque, após milagre concedido aos moradores da extinção da cólera.
Outra curiosidade da igreja é a porta virada para o rio Jaguaripe, segundo relatos haviam muitas inundações na época e fica mais fácil retirar as imagens de dentro da igreja.

Atrás da igreja nos deparamos com outro patrimônio histórico, datado do ano de 1863, o prédio da filarmônica Erato Nazarena, a Lira de Bronze.
Nessa viagem também voltamos ao monumento De Jesus de Nazaré, localizado no morro do silêncio, e antes de chegar passamos pelos 14 atos da via sacra, um local de visitação na época de semana santa.
O monumento tem 15 metros de altura e foi construído em 1999, pelo artista plástico Félix Sampaio.

O local está passando por reformas, mas foi possível admirar a vista e o monumento. Não poderíamos esquecer de mostrar a Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Nazaré, datada de 1830, 192 anos de história e serviços para a comunidade.
Nossa última parada é o cemitério Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos, construído no século XIX e segundo moradores, uma vista magnifica, porém estava fechado e não foi possível filmar.

To see the giant waves of Nazaré in Portugal must be on every surfers bucket list. When we heard that the swell was going to be good around the end of February 2023 we just had to go and see it come live. It was not quite the mystical 100 foot wave that these surfers are dreaming abut, but it was still an amazing to experience. Nazaré is such a cool little town and is centered around big wave surfing.
