Great Quiet Hotel in Linda-a-Velha, Portugal
Last week's heat wave through Europe had me roasting in my apartment. Portugal was blazing literally and figuratively. I've spent two years in my apartment without air conditioning with no problems. But last week, my laptop starting wheezing like she was going to have an asthma attacked so I had to find a hotel or risk my laptop exploding.
It's prime seasons so prices are crazy and I had no desire to stay in the city. I jumped on @bookingcom and found this hotel not far from my apartment and I was quite impressed. It was basically a fully stocked apartment. How did I not know about this place?
The hotel staff the MS Apart Hotel were super kind, but if you want to be close to the city and attractions this may not be the hotel for you. It's about 20 minutes outside of the city. It's super quiet and just perfect for me. If you are driving and visiting Portugal and want something quiet and out of the city you might want to check it out.
PS- I don't know much about hotels here because I have an apartment. Hotels weren't sustainable lodging for an immigrant so I don't have many recommendations in this area. But when I find a gem or two, I like to let you know.

Começando do extremo norte capixaba, lá na divisa com a Bahia, a praia de Itaúnas, em Conceição da Barra, se destaca por sua beleza e o charme do vilarejo que mantém suas características rústicas. Considerado por Alceu Valença como o lugar que reinventou e reviveu o forró pé de serra no Brasil, o nome Itaúnas vem do tupi que significa pedra negra, por conta das pedras que dão a coloração escura do rio Itaúnas. E a calmaria da vila dá lugar à muita música no verão e no famoso festival de forró, em julho, quando o município é invadido pelos jovens.
A cidade foi soterrada por uma imensidão de areia nas décadas de 60 e 70, após um grande desmatamento da restinga na região, que ocasionou em dunas na vila de pescadores.
Itaúnas sem dúvidas é um Paraíso onde você consegue unir o calor do deserto e a brisa do mar.
E se for passar o dia por lá, a minha dica é almoçar no restaurante da Dona Tereza. Eles servem uma deliciosa moqueca capixaba que é especialidade da casa. E que tal dar uma esticadinha mais para cima e conhecer aquela que já foi eleita a segunda praia deserta mais bonita do Brasil?

If you are ever in Portugal, and you like your palaces, then you must visit Pena Palace in Sintra! ????????
The palace sits on top of a hill that towers over the town of Sintra. The history of this site dates back to the 12th century, when there was a chapel dedicated to 'Our Lady of Pena'. On the same location King Manuel 1 ordered the construction of a monastery.
Unfortunately in 1755 an earthquake struck Lisbon and the monastery was left in ruins. But some years later, some skilled folk rebuilt the amazing site and it's now what it is today....a fascinating place to visit, dripping in history, beauty and outstanding architecture ????????
In 1995 Pena Palace was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is labelled as one of the seven wonders of Portugal! ????
BUT, before we visited Pena Palace we begin the video in Coimbra, a riverfront city and Portugals former, original capital city . Another place full of history and character.
