People told me there was nothing to do in Latacunga Ecuador other than drive to Cotopaxi and Quilotoa - they were wrong.
Latacunga is a beautiful small city in Ecuador with so much to do and lots of traditional Ecuadorian food. It's only an hour from Quito Ecuador and a fantastic trip.

QUILOTOA, ALL YOU NEED IS ECUADOR . TRAVEL (Cotopaxi - Latacunga)
Quilotoa es un sitio turístico de creciente popularidad. La Ruta de la Cumbre (como se conoce al pequeño pueblo de Quilotoa) se viaja por lo general mediante un bus o camión alquilado desde el pueblo de Zumbahua, 17 km al sur. Algunos hostales sencillos se han desarrollado en el área más próxima y ofrecen servicios como mulas y guías para la caminata de 5 horas alrededor de la caldera (cuyo diámetro es de casi 9 km), una bajada de media hora (y media hora de subida otra vez a través de un ascenso verticalde 400 metros), y alojamiento básico abajo en la cuenca. Se permite acampar en el fondo del cráter, aunque no hay agua potable (excepto por las botellas de medio litros vendidas en los hostales) y tan solo una letrina con un pozo antiséptico, localizado en el hostal. Quilotoa is a tourist site of increasing popularity. The Route of the Summit (since the small people of Quilotoa is known) one travels in general by means of a bus or truck rented from the people of Zumbahua, 17 km in the southern part. Some simple hotels have developed in the most near area and offer services like mules and guides for the trek of 5 hours about the boiler (which diameter is almost 9 km), a descent of half an hour (and it happens hour of raise again across an ascent verticalde 400 meters), and basic housing below in the basin. It is allowed encamp at the back of the crater, though there is no drinkable water (except for the bottles of way liters sold in the hotels) and only a lavatory with an antiseptic well located in the hotel.

Iliniza Sur (5250m) es famoso de ser la sexta montaña más alta en el país mientras Iliniza Norte (5126m) es la octava más alta. The Ilinizas are two peaks located 55km Southwest of Quito. Iliniza Sur (5250m) is famous for being the sixth highest mountain in the country whilst Iliniza Norte (5126m) is the eighth highest.

Located near the city of Sangolqui, this is one of the largest waterfalls in Ecuador with a height of 80 meters.
2️⃣ Cuicocha Lagoon
Surrounded by mountains, 3.246 m of height, 13 km around the lagoon. You have so much space to take the best picture.
3️⃣ Peguche Waterfall
The Peguche waterfall is an indigenous ceremonial place where purification baths are performed. There are also hidden rivers and caves around.
4️⃣ Cotopaxi Volcano
Located in Latacunga city, it is the second highest summit in Ecuador, reaching a height of 5,897 m.
5️⃣ Atillo Lagoons
I have never seen such a peaceful place.
If you love adventure, you MUST come here.
This one is the farthest place of those that I mentioned to you before (if you travel from Quito), BUT it's worth visiting.

Teleferico is a gondola lift in Quito, Ecuador, running from the edge of the city centre up the east side of Pichincha Volcano to lookout Cruz Loma.
It is one of the highest aerial lifts in the world, rising from 3,117 m (10,226 ft) to 3,945 m (12,943 ft).
