KIROVSK, Russia. The Town of Apatites and Ski Resort on KHIBINY Mountains. Russian Arctics. VLOG

The town of Kirovsk (don’t mess it with “Kirov”) is located right under the Khibiny, the largest mountain range on the Kola Peninsula in Murmansk region of Russia.

It is founded in 1929, after the geologists discovered a huge deposits of apatites and nephelines - the minerals widely used in agriculture, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, production of ceramics and glass.

Originally, the town of Kirovsk was named as Khibinogorsk which is literally “Khibiny Mountain Town”, but in 1934 it was renamed after Sergey Kirov, one of the most significant politicians of the early USSR period.

Exploring Vorkuta - Russian Ghost Town in Arctic | The Most Depressing Town in Russia

Despite the richest coal deposits that gave boost to the development of the city, Vorkuta and the adjacent settlements are rapidly emptying today. The mega project of the Soviet machine was not in demand among the heirs of the empire. Today, some districts of Vorkuta and surrounding villages are abandoned or are about to be completely deserted. How is Vorkuta living today? What's going on around her? What are the prospects for the main coal mining region in the north of Russia? I personally went to the Arctic to answer these questions.

VLOG #027 RUSSIA’S most BEAUTIFUL CITY in winter & during CHRISTMAS | ST.-PETERSBURG TRAVEL GUIDE

SEASON V | St.-Petersburg, Russian Federation
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

In my first episode of my «FORMER CCCP REPUBLICS» travel vlog series I will show you around my my favourite city in the world. Together we will discover Saint-Petersburg’s most famous sights. Many tourists from Russia and the world consider the Northern capital as the beautifulest city in the country.

It’s really different to the other cities of Russia. St.-Petersburg is known for the incredible historic architecture, which is unique to the city and it’s filled with some of the world’s finest art.

Some sights to see:

A great place to visit is the State HERMITAGE museum located at the famous PALACE SQUARE and at the General Staff Building which has the longest facade in the world. The Hermitage that is inside the Winter Palace building houses artwork of the most prominent masters like Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Some people say if you spend one minute looking at every piece in the entire gallery it will take you 11 years to see all. The museum is just huge.

St. Petersburg has some of the beautifulest METRO stations in the world. The metro system consists of five lines with station which are protected by the UNESCO. The majority of Stations is below 30 meters in the ground. The deepest metro station in Russia is Admiralteyskaya. It goes 80 meters into the ground. It’s very affordable to use the metro systems in the city. The metro has no zones and it costs just 1$ for a ride. My favourite stations are Ploshad Vosstaniya, Kirovskiy Zavod and Avtovo.

The most iconic sight in the city is the Church of Savior on Spilled Blood. It’s often titled as fairy tail gingerbread house by foreigners. You should definitely visit the museum. The church houses some breathtaking mosaics.

If you want to have a traditional snack or just a cheap coffee you should check out the Pyshechnaya at Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street 25. It produces the famous St.-Petersburg doughnuts since soviet times (since 1958). The Pyshechnaya is a beloved place to eat among locals and tourists.

More sights:

-The Peter and Paul fortress
-St. Isaac’s Cathedral
-Nevskiy Prospekt
-The Summer Palace
-Lakta Center
-Kestovskiy Ostrov with the Gazprom Arena
-New Holland Island
-Peterhof (in spring and summer)

Enjoy and stay safe))

St Petersburg ???????? The City That Changed The World Forever...

St Petersburg, the city that changed the history of the World. In 1917, amid the backdrop of the brutal first world war, Russia fell in to crisis, the Tsar fell, the empire collapsed and the people of Saint Petersburg (Petrograd) rose up. This is the story of the Russian Revolutions of 1905 & 1917, some of the most seismic events in recent World history. The Socialist Revolution in Saint Petersburg slightly over 100 years ago changed the course of history & is still having a profound affect on the world today.

This is the story of the Revolutions through the eyes of a local - Aleksander. You can find his incredible tours here:

Saint Petersburg, Russia - Line 1 Kirovsko Vyborgskaya Line - Avtovo Station (2018)

Avtovo (Russian: А́втово) is a station on the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. Designed by architect Yevgenii Levinson (ru), it opened as part of the first Leningrad Metro line on November 15, 1955. In 2014, The Guardian included it on the list of 12 most beautiful metro stations in the world.

Avtovo's unique and highly ornate design features columns faced with ornamental glass manufactured at the Lomonosov factory.[3] Although the original plan envisaged using glass on all of the columns in the station, white marble was substituted on some due to time constraints. This marble was supposed to be temporary, but it has never been replaced. The walls are faced with white marble and adorned on the north side by a row of ornamental ventilation grilles. At the end of the platform a mosaic by V.A. Voronetskiy and A.K. Sokolov commemorates the Leningrad Blockade (1941-1944) during the Second World War.

Unlike the other stations on the first line, Avtovo is a shallow-level station, constructed using the cut and cover method. It belongs to the shallow column class of underground stations.

Avtovo has as its entrance vestibule a large Neoclassical building with a domed cupola, located on the east side of Prospekt Stachek (ru).

Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya Line (Russian: Кировско-Вы́боргская ли́ния, the line between the city's Kirovsky District and Vyborgsky District) is the oldest line of the Saint Petersburg Metro, opened in 1955. The original stations are very beautiful and elaborately decorated, especially Avtovo and Narvskaya. The line connects four out of five Saint Petersburg's main railway stations. In 1995, a flooding occurred in a tunnel between Lesnaya and Ploschad Muzhestva stations and, for nine years, the line was separated into two independent segments (the gap was connected by a shuttle bus route). The line is also one of the two lines in the network to feature shallow stations, the other being the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya Line.

The line cuts Saint Petersburg centre on a northeast-southwest axis. In the south its alignment follows the shore of the Gulf of Finland. In the north it extends outside the city limits into the Leningrad oblast (it is the only line to stretch beyond the city boundary). The Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya Line generally coloured red on Metro maps.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербу́рг, tr. Sankt-Peterburg, IPA: [ˈsankt pʲɪtʲɪrˈburk] (About this sound listen)) is Russia's second-largest city after Moscow, with five million inhabitants in 2012. An important Russian port on the Baltic Sea, it has a status of a federal subject (a federal city).

Situated on the Neva River, at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea, it was founded by Tsar Peter the Great on May 27 [O.S. 16] 1703. On 1 September 1914, the name was changed from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd (Russian: Петрогра́д, IPA: [pʲɪtrɐˈgrat]), on 26 January 1924 to Leningrad (Russian: Ленингра́д, IPA: [lʲɪnʲɪnˈgrat]), and on 7 September 1991 back to Saint Petersburg. Between 1713 and 1728 and in 1732–1918, Saint Petersburg was the capital of Imperial Russia. In 1918, the central government bodies moved to Moscow.

Saint Petersburg is one of the modern cities of Russia, as well as its cultural capital. The Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saint Petersburg is home to the Hermitage, one of the largest art museums in the world. Many foreign consulates, international corporations, banks and businesses have offices in Saint Petersburg.

Saint Petersburg hosted the games of 2018 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2020.

On one end is Rybatskoye station and the other end is Begovaya station. They are both far away from the city center and Nevsky Prospekt. At the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, 118 fishermen were rescued from icebergs, reports the Russian press agency Interfax. Before they knew, the fishermen were driven 250 meters from the mainland. 163

Almost fifty rescuers came in action to get rid of them.

Ice fishing is a hobby of millions of Russians. In spring, the rescue services are more often in action to catch fishermen. Usually they remain unharmed. Even now that was the case.

It is now 8 degrees in Krasnoyarsk. Russian cities Petersburg and Vyborg. Putin's train, retro ELEKTRICHKA and brand new trolleybuses!

I spent January 6 and 7, 2023 in St. Petersburg. On the first day, I went to the beautiful city of Vyborg on the beautiful train ER2K-980 Lakhta, which became a tourist train at the end of 2020.
The second day I devoted to the St. Petersburg metro, as well as the new trolleybuses that arrived in the city in December 2022.
In this video, I will show you a lot of interesting things! History and review of the retro train, review of the architecture and urban infrastructure of Vyborg, review of the newest trolleybuses, and in addition - an overview of various metro trains. Kirill helped me with this - a Petersburger, the author of the United Transport channel.
And, of course, I didn't forget about jokes, trams, sketches, buses, contests and references, so - I wish you a pleasant viewing!

Beautiful Metro station (Subway) of Saint Petersburg, Russia

Metro station (Subway) of Saint Petersburg may not be as beautiful as Moscow but many stations built in 1955 are worth to explore.
