Lyon, also spelled in English as Lyons, is the third-largest city and second-largest metropolitan area of France. It is located at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône, to the northwest of the French Alps.

The Ill is born in the heart of the Alsatian Jura, in Winkel, in the middle of the Illensprung, at 600m of altitude. The Ill is 217 km long, it flows into the Rhine at GAMBSHEIM, north of STRASBOURG.
Since May 2003, a work of art by Anne Rochette has served as a setting for the emerging river. For the artist, the roundness of the sculptures evokes both the surrounding hills and femininity, often associated with springs in popular art. Higher up, 10 large pebbles symbolize the drops of water which, like so many resurgences, remind us that the birth of a river is always diffuse.

Mulhouse, France
Mulhouse is a city and commune in eastern France, close to the Swiss and German borders. With a population of 112,063 in 2013 and 284,739 inhabitants in the metropolitan area in 2012, it is the largest city in the Haut-Rhin département, and the second largest in the Alsace region after Strasbourg. Mulhouse is the principal commune of the 33 making up the communauté d'agglomération Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération
Mulhouse is famous for its museums, especially the Cité de l’Automobile and the Musée Français du Chemin de Fer, respectively the largest automobile and railway museums in the world.
