Borghi di Italia - FIUMEFREDDO BRUZIO - everyone should visit. Flight and walking tour with captions
A nice tour in Fiumefreddo Bruzio, one of the most beatiful village of Italy to see its wonderful architecture from different point of views and to know some history of this enchanted place.
- Fiumefreddo Bruzio was built around the 11th century for defensive purposes by the Normans. They started making a watchtower that in the future became a castle.
- The name Fiumefreddo come from the Latin “flumen frigidum” that means cold river, due to the cold water coming from the rocks.
- It is sited on a cliff made by rocks and clay, it is suspended between the sky and the sea and it is surrounded by the Mediterranean vegetation.
- The surrounding mountains rise up to 1500 meters direclty from the sea, making this the perfect place for hiking lovers.
- The village developed thanks to several noble families that built here their summer residences.
- The urban structure is medieval and consists of a network of small streets that lead to the panoramic squares.
- The main buildings have large entrance doors and internal courts that still keep the families coat of arms that lived there.
- Religion always had a central role within the village life, in fact, it counts 5 churches.
- The main church (Immaculate Conception) was built in the 14th century with Baroque style. Inside you can find wonderful artworks.
- Clay processing is one of the main traditions by which the artisans make nativity scenes.

Un bel tour a Fiumefreddo Bruzio, uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia per vedere la sua meravigliosa architettura da diversi punti di vista e conoscere un po' di storia di questo luogo incantato.
- Fiumefreddo Bruzio fu edificato intorno all'XI secolo a scopo difensivo dai Normanni. Iniziarono a costruire una torre di avvistamento che in futuro sarebbe diventata un castello.
- Il nome Fiumefreddo deriva dal latino “flumen frigidum” che significa fiume freddo, appunto, per l'acqua fredda proveniente dalle rocce.
- Sorge su una rupe formata da rocce e argilla, è sospesa tra il cielo e il mare ed è circondata dalla macchia mediterranea.
- Le montagne circostanti si ergono fino a 1500 metri direttamente dal mare, rendendo questo il luogo ideale per gli amanti dell'escursionismo.
- Il borgo si sviluppò grazie a diverse famiglie nobili che qui costruirono le loro residenze estive.
- La struttura urbanistica è medievale ed è costituita da una rete di vicoli che conducono alle due piazze panoramiche.
- Gli edifici principali hanno grandi portoni d'ingresso e corti interne che conservano ancora lo stemma delle famiglie che vi abitarono.
- La religione ha sempre avuto un ruolo centrale nella vita del paese, infatti conta 5 chiese.
- La chiesa principale (Immacolata Concezione) fu costruita nel XIV secolo in stile barocco. All'interno puoi trovare meravigliose opere d'arte.
- La lavorazione dell'argilla è una delle principali tradizioni con cui gli artigiani realizzano i presepi.

A nice tour in one of the most suggestive castle placed in Fiumefreddo Bruzio (CS), considered one of the most beatiful village of Italy. Within the clips you will fly over and walk through this wonderful place to discover its history, architecture, art and the fascinating panorama.
- Castello della Valle was built around the 11th century for defensive purposes by the Normans. They started making a watchtower that, in the future, became a castle.
- When the castle was built, there was a boundary wall to defend it from the enemy attacks and to separate it from the Fiumefreddo Bruzio village.
-People could get access thanks to a drawbridge that led to a beautiful sixteenth century portal.
-The rooms of the feudal lords were located at the upper floors. People could get access thanks to a spiral staircase.
-From the south view you can see Sicily and the Stromboli vulcan, whereas the north side is facing the Fiumefreddo Bruzio village.
-In 1975 the famous painter and designer Salvatore Fiume, coming back from his holidays in Sicily, decided to visit Fiumefreddo Bruzio village and he got fascinated by the ruins of the castle. Then he decided to paint the surviving walls with murals that do not exist anymore because they were exposed to the elements. So in 1996, Fiume came back here and painted the inner walls of the castle.
-In 1806-1807 the castle was besieged by Napoleonic troops and, due to the military attacks, it was almost completely destroyed.
-To date, the only fully recoverable part is the basement.
-In 2006 it was declared “Monument against all Wars”.

-Dal lato sud del castello è possibile vedere la Sicilia e il vulcano Stromboli, mentre il lato nord è rivolto verso il paese di Fiumefreddo Bruzio.
-Nel 1975 il famoso pittore e designer Salvatore Fiume, di ritorno dalle sue vacanze in Sicilia, decise di visitare il paese di Fiumefreddo Bruzio e rimase affascinato dalle rovine del castello. Pertanto, decise di dipingere le pareti superstiti del castello con murales, che oggi non esistono più in quanto esposte alle intemperie. Così nel 1996 Fiume è tornato qui e ha dipinto le pareti interne del castello.
-Nel 1806-1807 il castello fu assediato dalle truppe napoleoniche e, a causa degli attacchi militari, fu quasi completamente distrutto.
-Ad oggi l'unica parte totalmente recuperabile è il seminterrato.
-Nel 2006 è stato dichiarato “Monumento contro tutte le guerre”.

ONE DAY IN TAORMINA (ITALY) | 4K 60FPS | A wonderful place on the east coast of Sicily
Taormina is a very worth seeing city, situated on a hill, which offers many historical monuments as well as a magnificent view of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. In the old town you can find most of the sights and the most beautiful viewpoints along Corso Umberto. Due to the picturesque landscape, mild climate and numerous historical sights, the city developed into one of the most important tourist centers in Sicily in the 19th and 20th centuries.
I only had about half a day to capture with my camera the many sights and the atmosphere that was unique to me. Among other things, I was thrilled by the great views, the old town and the many palaces, decorated with Arabic style elements. The visit to the Greek theater is the highlight of my video. It is the second largest ancient theater in Sicily, built in the 3rd century BC.
Taormina was defined by Goethe The greatest masterpiece of art and nature, and the historical French travel writer Guy de Maupassant called the city a painting in which we find everything that seems to exist on earth to seduce the eyes, mind and imagination. But just see for yourself - in my video.

Fiumefreddo Bruzio (Calabria)
Fiumefreddo Bruzio is a small village located on the coast of Tyrrhenian Sea, in the south of the province of Cosenza (Calabria - southern Italy).
In 2005, Fiumefreddo Bruzio was awarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
At the southern edge of the town is the ruined fortress, Castello della Valle, which passed between the hands of aristocrats, barons and kings. Today, its walls feature further paintings by Salvatore Fiume.
Hiking the highest mountain on the coastline, Monte Cocuzzo, the efforts will be rewarded by the extremely suggestive experience of being able to admire the sunset over the sea from over 1,500 meters above sea level, enjoying incomparable views in all directions: the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the mountains of Pollino and Sila and in the clearest days the Aeolian Islands, Sicily and Etna.

Tindari is a town of Greek origin on the northern coast of Sicily, west of Messina and east of Patti and best known for the substantial church known as the Tindari Sanctuary where the Black Madonna is located. Tindari has wonderful views of the Aeolian Islands. You will surely love the view and the temperature. It is best to got o Sicily during Spring and summer, to experience the hot weather.
