2. Old Orchard Beach. With a waterfront amusement park and the famed Old Orchard Beach Pier, this stop offers coastal views and even has a waterfront RV campground with private decks where you can soak up the scenery.
3. Portland. Known for the most photographed lighthouse in the U.S., Portland is the largest city in Maine offering a fascinating history. Take a walking history tour, catch fresh lobster with Lucky Catch Cruises, and stop at Holy Donut for a sweet treat to end your day.
4. Damariscotta. Referred to as the “Napa Valley of Oysters,” learn all about the oyster industry in this coastal town while sipping wines paired with oysters. There are amazing eateries and an RV campground with beautiful lakefront sites.
5. Bar Harbor. The gateway town to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor offers plenty of dining and shopping options. Walk out on the ocean floor at low tide in the harbor and be sure to spend time on the many hiking trails in Acadia National.

Exploring Point Defiance Park-Tacoma, WA (Gardens, 5 Mile Drive, Fort Nisqually, Never Never Land)
Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington is hands down my favorite place to visit in the whole world. On this day visited several gardens including the Rose, Rhododendron and Japanese garden. I also checked out the Pagoda and several of the viewpoints and finished the video driving through five mile drive and checking out Fort Nisqually Living History Museum and what was left of the abandoned Never Never Land. At the time of this video Owen Beach was closed for updates and will be under construction until mid-summer 2022. As well on this day I filmed several other videos at the new Dune Peninsula at Point Defiance Park and at the Slides and Stairs. I have a video shot at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium that includes the new Pacific Seas Aquarium so make sure to check that one out.

First time Camping out in Cushing Maine Last Year, Week long trip made the difference as the first day was sketchy and as few days gone by I adapted to hearing wild animals at night. Whale watching was on the list to do , Picking Blueberries, Eating Maine Famous Lobster Rolls. Best Part was being able to do it with a bunch of People.

Oil refinery at Cushing, OK 1991
These are video shots made in October of 1991 of the Hudson Oil Co. oil refinery at Cushing, Oklahoma. The refinery was last operational in 1982 and was the final oil refinery in Cushing (Cushing had at one time as many as 10 refineries back around 1910). Sometime in the late 1990's, demolition began of this industrial complex. Today, little remains of the refinery. Cushing continues to be a major petroleum pipeline hub within the United States and the surrounding area has numerous producing oil fields.
This refinery was originally built in 1922 (not sure who was the original owner). In 1943, Midland Cooperatives Inc. of Minneapolis, MN purchased the refinery and operated it until the Hudson takeover.
I had originally come to Cushing back in 1983 to photograph this refinery as well as other oil refineries in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas (many also now gone), using 35mm slide and print film. The video camera shots were more or less just an amateur means of capturing how the refinery complex was arranged. The shots from the car, a 1988 Mercury Cougar, take you on a U shaped trip around the older portion of the refinery. Closeups include storage tanks, the loading platform for railroad tank cars (ATSF RR (Santa Fe) which pulled up the last tracks in Cushing apparently sometime in 1983), various refining units, flare towers not to mention the cat cracker refining unit at the newer portion of the facility.
Hope you enjoy this reminder of what was at one time a major part of Cushing's economy along with the sights and sounds of the local crickets, grasshoppers, two noisy crows and someone's black cat crossing the road!

Be sure to include nearby Port Clyde and Marshall Point Lighthouse as you explore this area. Port Clyde is a working waterfront with classic Maine views and a great General Store. Sit at the counter and enjoy a grilled cheese with lobster and tomato.
Head North to Rockland to visit the Farnsworth Museum, which features tremendous works by Andrew Wyeth, NC Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. Rockland is also a good choice for dining and art galleries.
Enjoy the working waterfront and boating traffic. The Rockport Breakwater Lighthouse is visible in the harbor...venture out on the Breakwater for a brisk stroll if the Seabreeze is up. Owl's Head State Part is only minutes away fro Rockland and the walk to the lighthouse is sensational.
