The BEST WINE ROAD TRIP in France? Join me in the Southern Rhône Valley!

Enjoy the show? We're independently owned and produced and would LOVE your support! You can also watch ad-free! Join Vino VIP:

Southern Rhone may be the most beautiful wine region in France! Stunning landscapes, quaint villages, ancient geography, and tons of Côtes du Rhône vineyards, all winding along the Rhône River in the South of France. The winemakers have tremendous respect for the land and work hard to preserve its legacy. Join Vince and his friend and local Frenchman, Sarkis, on a road trip through this wonderful wine region while learning about the fresh & fun red, rosé, and white wines of Southern Rhône!

All locations, wines, and wineries are listed at: visforvino.com/southern-rhone

DESCRIPTION: The Southern Rhône Valley in the South of France has some of the most incredible wine history in the world! The Romans cultivated this land thousands of years ago, and the people who work the land now know how special their vineyards are. We start our journey in Avignon, which is the capital of Côtes du Rhône wines, and talk about the geography, Mediterranean climate, and how the Rhône River helps the region's terroir. Next, I head to lunch at Le Carré du Palais with my friend and native Frenchman Sarkis in his 1957 MG convertible to meet an American ex-pat and sommelier, Kelly McAuliffe. Kelly guides us through a tasting of 3 different Rhône Valley wines and their pairings in a fantastic French lunch. Next, we'll talk about the AOCs of the Rhone: Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Côtes du Rhône named Villages, and Cru. We then taste some amazing biodynamic wines at Domaine De Montirius before chatting about the different grapes of the Rhône and their characteristics. The most popular grapes are Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, and they make what's called a GSM blend. We then stop at a local French market in Vaison-la-Romaine, and we pick up cheese, meats, and jams before heading to Domaine de Cousignac, where winemaker Raphaël Pommier explains why he uses music in his winemaking. Next, I talk to winemaker Philippe Guigal of E. Guigal wines, one of the most famous wine houses in the world. Finally, we have dinner at FLAVEURS restaurant (by Baptiste Poinot) with Maxime Chapoutier, another iconic Rhone wine brand. In the final scene, Sarkis and I drive off into the distance, reminiscing of our incredible French wine road trip through the Southern Rhone Valley.

Chateauneuf France - A Visit to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois in Bourgogne France | European Waterways

A Visit to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois in Bourgogne France. Visit to the Medieval Village, Craft Shops and Castle of Châteauneuf-en- Auxois.

During our classic Burgundy cruise aboard hotel barge L'Impressionniste we visit the medieval village, craft shops and castle of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, once an outpost of the Dukes of Burgundy and offering a fine overview of the feeder lakes, canal and surrounding countryside.

Châteauneuf-en-Auxois is a tiny, charming, hilltop town, well worth the climb up the steep path. This romantic and fascinating village is like a miniature Carcassonne, with its turreted castle, its encircling walls, and its elegant houses once belonging to rich merchants. The château, built in the 12th and 15th centuries, affords a broad view over the rolling farmlands, with a view of the Canal de Bourgogne and the woodlands of the Morvan. At its zenith, the town had a population of 500.

The 12 Passenger Hotel Barge L'Impressionniste -- the Lower Burgundy Canal

Sister ship to La Belle Epoque, L'Impressionniste began life as a cargo barge in Holland before undergoing a complete transformation into the gorgeous hotel barge she is today. Her light and airy interior features picture windows and a selection of prints, fabrics and wall coverings reminiscent of the era after which she has been named, while each comfortable cabin is complemented by an en suite shower. The spacious saloon has also been upgraded with the addition of some comfortable leather sofas and individually designed fitted furniture. A week cruising aboard L'Impressionniste on the Burgundy Canal introduces you to a wonderful blend of Burgundian countryside, history and viticulture. For more information please see:

Located at the threshold of the Auxois region the imposing fortress of Châteauneuf overlooks a broad open landscape too far away in the distance. It is built on the rocky spur encircled by the valleys of the rivers Creuse, Vandenesse and the brook of Commarin.

The castle was built in 1132 by Jean de Chaudenay for his second son Jehan. The site adopted to build this castle corresponded to the conditions required by an imperative need for security in those times. The family reigned over the fief for nine generations, ending in tragedy in 1456, when Cathrine of Châteauneuf was burnt to death, after poisoning her second husband, Jacques d'Haussonville.

The castle was then given by Philippe le Bon (Duke of Burgundy) to his godson Philippe Pot. Philippe Pot had no children and died in 1493, so the estate was given to his brother Guy Pot and through marriages Marie Liesse de Luxembourg.

The entrance to the castle used to be through two fortified gates with a drawbridge. With its thick walls and no opening, separated from the mountain by a wide moat cut in the rock, the castle is almost impossible to access. It is one of the most exciting specimens of medieval military architecture in Côte-d'Or. The five-round towers and the outer walls were erected from the 12th to the 15th century.

The keep which stands on the rock is the only remains from the 12th century.

The Ground Floor
Blazing gothic is the specific architectural feature of the buildings dating back to Philippe Pot. One of the two lodgings is in ruins while the other still has unaltered windows. It has a staircase tower with a finely carved arch over the door. The graceful dormer windows ornamenting the high, Burgundy tile roof with their open work.

A dining room was built in one of the towers in the 18th century. On the walls, you can see the portraits of the Dukes of Burgundy (Valois) and a collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece.

Philippe Pot had a chapel built in 1481. He decorated it with the colours of his coat of arms; red and black. The ceiling of this chapel is a wooden vault supported in the centre by posts which lay on crossbeams linking the walls, and light reaches the chapel through a large window in an excellent ogival style.

The First Floor
On the left, there is a succession of rooms decorated in the 18th century. On the right, three rooms separated by half-timbered walls were created in the 15th century. A series of 17th-century tapestries, depicting events from the Life of Moses, adorn the walls of the apartment.

The Courtyard
The south tower was the primary defensive place in the castle. It contains pieces of artillery dating from the 14th century.

The guest house has a beautiful façade built in the typical gothic style from the late 15th century.

VENASQUE - 4K | Les Plus Beaux Villages de France| Most Beautiful Villages of France |

Listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, Venasque is one of several villages to make the list from the Vaucluse region.

Just a 10 minute drive away from Gordes (Voted number 1 in France) the pair of unique picturesque European villages are easily visited in the same day.

Close to the Mont Ventoux, Châteauneuf du Pape, Avignon and more, this village is at the hear of the region just south of the Rhône.

All around the village there are trails that are easily hiked and that's what we did the day we went. Some very cool cliffs with loads of rock climbers and campers in their vans.

A very special place for those looking to do some easy yet stunningly beautiful outdoor activities.

???????? Trip to France | Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Carcassonne, Rennes-les-Bains #프랑스 #카르카손 #샤토너프뒤파프 #프랑스남부

We left Orange in the morning and headed to Chateauneuf-du-Pape which is quite close. We had a tasting from 10.30h in the morning again :-) After that we drove to Carcassonne. After a short stroll and drink, we drove to Renne-les-Bains. We stayed there 3 nights as my husband was there for wildlife photography.
