Coorg is known as the Scotland of India because of the striking similarities between the two places in terms of geography, terrain, architecture, atmosphere, climate and numerous fresh water bodies.
Madikeri or Mercara, the capital of Coorg is a beautiful large hill town situated in Western Ghats. This hill station stands 1452 meters above sea level. The green woody slopes, colourful scenery, misty mountains, cascading falls, dense tropical forest, tea, coffee and spice plantations made this place a paradise of nature lovers.
This enchantingly beautiful place is popularly called as the ‘Scotland of India’ and also ‘Kashmir of South’. There are so many attractions in and around Madikeri.
Abbey falls or Abbi Falls is situated 1 km from the town of Madikeri. This waterfall is famous for its natural beauty. This is a famous picnic spot and is called as Jesse falls in the olden days.
Abbey falls located between the natural greenery of coffee plantations and spice estates is blessed with stunning beauty and serene calm. The falls has a wild beauty. Water cascading over rocks into the pool. The roaring sound of the waterfalls can be heard from the road.
During Monsoon the water flow is very high and in dry seasons the flow is low. There is a hanging bridge here providing the amazing sight of this waterfalls. The best time to visit Abbey falls is early winter.
Dubare Elephant Camp is situated on the banks of River Kaveri in Coorg district of Karnataka state. A popular tourist spots, the camp attracts tourists, especially wildlife enthusiast from all over the world. It presents tourists with an opportunity to be close to elephants and engage in various activities related to them.
Elephant Camp at Dubare is the project undertaken by forest department and jungle lodges and resorts. Not just interaction with elephants, tourists also get mesmerizing natural settings consisting of lush greenery and refreshing environment to spend some memorable days.
Earlier at this place elephants used to be trained for Mysore Dussehra but now they are mostly used to jungle rides and other purposes. They are trained under naturalists. These trained naturalists assist tourists with details on Elephant history, ecology and biology. What makes this camp unique is the fact that tourists can participate in various activities with elephants which is three hour elephant interaction.

For this ride, i dare you not to close your eyes!!! There are two capsules at the top for bombs away, and as you are entering and waiting to be dropped, you will hear the countdown that makes your heart beat even faster. It is about 10 seconds long once its drop, but it is well worth the wait!
#3 Bootleggers Run
This is a roller coaster combine with water slides. We can fit the raft up to 4 people; and this fun ride start with uphill climb and goes fast with the new generation hydromagnetic technology.

The gorgeous harbor at the center of town is where residents gather for “Sixish” on the dock at sunset, enjoy a top notch dinner at Le Dock, grocery shop at Pioneer Market and cool off with an ice cream cone at Unfreindly’s. The bay front swim area and playground are always filled with happy noise and sandy kids.
A “Barefoot Community”, Fair Harbor is a laid back, informal, bustling community. The architecture is as varied as its residents, from humble 1940’s cottages to spacious modern homes. Many of New York’s professionals flock to this lovely, lively town. Whether with children or single, the residents are here for relaxation and fun.
The magnificent harbor view from the dock is the best on the island. Everyone gathers here in the evening for “Sixish” to toast the setting sun. Kids sell their wares while adults mingle and share a glass of wine. Fair Harbor is the perfect town for single professionals to meet and for families with kids who all like to run free.
It is easy to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle here. The lifeguarded bay beach is a gathering place for parents to relax and chat while the kids swim out to the raft or climb in the newly renovated playground.
Unfriendly’s ice cream store is nearby for refreshments when the going gets tough.
The Lifeguard-patrolled ocean beach is wide, sandy and clean. A pair of shoes is rarely spotted in this town.
The center of town is on the bay front with the Pioneer gourmet market, Unfriendly’s ice cream stand, Corliss General store, the Loading Dock liquor store, post office, and fire house. Events are held frequently at the fire house.
Le Dock restaurant on the bay front has a spectacular view and fine dining. Be sure to make reservations well ahead of time.
The first-rate volunteer fire department services Fair Harbor, Dunewood and Lonelyville, its close neighbors.
Although there are almost 400 homes, it is a closely knit community, with a strong and active membership in the Fair Harbor Community Association. They oversee the town services, including choosing the doctor, lifeguards, and maintaining the marina.
They sponsor the Annual Pine Walk Crafts Fair on the dock and bay front 4th of July weekend, which has grown into a major showcase for local artists.
Fire Island runs from Democrat Point / Fire Island Inlet in the west to Moriches Inlet / Cupsoque Beach in the east.
Fire Island is 31 miles long and 2 - 3 blocks wide and is comprised of about 20 distinct communities

The name of Fire Island first appeared on a deed in 1789

1863 Fire Island separates from Jones Beach
There was a time when Fire Island was connected to Jones Beach Island, a single island stretching 60 miles from Jones Beach to South Hampton. The Fire Island Inlet naturally formed in 1863, and was later expanded through manpower, once over 9 miles wide before shrinking to its current width.

1931 Fire Island separates from Southampton
A 1931 Nor’easter caused the formation of the Moriches inlet and resulting in the separation of Southampton and Fire Island. Local efforts have protected eastern Fire Island with a series of jetties that have interrupted the longshore drift of sand from east to west which is blamed for the beach erosion.

Hurricane Sandy (unofficially referred to as Superstorm Sandy) was the deadliest, the most destructive, and the strongest hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season.
Hurricane Sandy was referred to as “Superstore Sandy because it had lost some of the traits needed to call it a hurricane. Sandy developed as an ordinary hurricane in the Caribbean, but as it moved up the East Coast and encountered cooler air and water, it began to loose its tropical characteristics. Hurricane Sandy was no longer a hurricane when it made land fall on Fire Island which is why it is also called Superstorm Sandy. The October 2012 storm generated the highest storm tide ever recorded in New York, reaching to nearly 14 feet in height, about 9 feet of which was from storm surge.

Also hushed are the rich histories of American Revolutionary patriots, who settled in this area, their land sold a century earlier to the English, by the native Matinecock tribe. Nearby, the Old Northport burial ground is perched on a frigid hillside. After 3 centuries, it remains one of the oldest rural cemeteries in the United States. Explore 18th century tombstones in a serene setting. You can walk in solitude at the wooded edge, amidst the icy tombstones that stand in perfect silence. The setting Sun bathes Victorian-era homes with golden rays, reminding inhabitants of the warmth still to come, but not all that quickly. Victorian 19th century was Northport's heyday, as it was once a renowned center for wooden ship-building. Hints of the approaching Summer season are ever-present, with bold colors occasionally breaking the dreary gray backdrops of Winter.

Point O' Woods is a hamlet that consists of a private vacation retreat on Fire Island, New York, in Suffolk County. Although it resembles a village or small town, with services such as a ferry port, a general store, church and fire department, the private community is open exclusively to members and their guests, who are the only persons allowed in through the hamlet's gate, or allowed to use the private ferry that runs to Point O' Woods from Bay Shore on Long Island.
Point O Woods feels like another century, and residents here guard their privacy. This stunning community borders Ocean Bay Park on the west and a stretch of open National Seashore to the east. Ferries leave from Bay Shore

A 1931 Nor’easter caused the formation of the Moriches inlet and resulting in the separation of Southampton and Fire Island. While it was a Category 2 hurricane off the coast of the Northeastern United States, the storm became the largest Atlantic hurricane on record as measured by diameter, with tropical-storm-force winds spanning 1,150 miles (1,850 km).
Hurricane Sandy was referred to as “Superstore Sandy because it had lost some of the traits needed to call it a hurricane. Sandy developed as an ordinary hurricane in the Caribbean, but as it moved up the East Coast and encountered cooler air and water, it began to loose its tropical characteristics. Hurricane Sandy was no longer a hurricane when it made land fall on Fire Island which is why it is also called Superstorm Sandy. The October 2012 storm generated the highest storm tide ever recorded in New York, reaching to nearly 14 feet in height, about 9 feet of which was from storm surge.

The expansive harbor is perfect for Long-islanders to dock and enjoy the beach for the day. There are no stores here and residents bring their own supplies or shop in Fair Harbor or Ocean Beach. There are no boardwalks, so plan to carry your stuff over sandy paths. But there’s more happening here after dark at The Shack.
Atlantique is a small town known as a haven for boat owners to dock and play. They come for the day or stay on board for longer in the large 150+ slip marina. Residents play along with them at the beach.
The Shack is the gathering place, snack bar and at night, opens serving its legendary 5:00 Rocket Fuels. Live bands play and sun-kissed people dance the night away.
Ferries to Atlantique leave from Bay Shore, but stop only in Dunewood.
There are about 50 homes, including the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Fire Island headquarters. The marina is a popular destination with 150+ slips. You can use the electrical and fresh water hook-ups, pump-out station, 24-hour restrooms, hot showers, playground, handball and basketball courts and BBQ area. The bay and ocean beaches have lifeguards. There is a no pet policy here in the facilities.

La petite ville Morocco se situe dans l'état d'Indiana à 100 km au sud de la ville de Chicago. L'origine du nom remonte à environ 165 ans au moment de la fondation de la ville, Il a été décidé de demander au premier étranger qui sera de passage de choisir le nom de la ville. Le premier étranger était un voyageur au dos de son cheval et portait des bottes rouges en cuir d'origine marocaine, il a proposé de donner le nom du Maroc à la nouvelle ville.
En visitant la ville j'ai eu l'occasion de rencontrer des personnes chaleureuses et accueillantes... l'hospitalité fait partie de leur quotidien au point qu'elle est associée à l'identité même de la ville.
Le monsieur qui parle dans la vidéo s'appelle Gerald Born, une personne très aimable et très connue dans la ville. Il a écrit un livre sur l'histoire de la ville de Morocco.
Il m'a parlé de la ville et de ses habitants ainsi que de l'hospitalité qui est un point commun entre la ville et le Maroc.
Gerald Born est décédé le 30 mai 2017 à l'âge de 81 ans. Paix à son âme ????
