$12 CRAZY DAY at Kerala Theme Park ????????

This was one of my absolute best days in Kerala India when I started off the day by walking into a big party of people completely by random chance. Shortly after, I had to keep the excitement going and head over to the theme park Wonderla Kochi.

This turned into an absolute wild afternoon as I arrived to the park late and attempted to go on every ride possible until the park closed. The energy here was incredibly fun everywhere I went. Habibi come to Kerala!!

HOW TO TRAVEL TAMARINDO - Must See, Must Do, Must Eat

Save stress and time and PURCHASE THE ULTIMATE COSTA RICA 2-WEEK TRAVEL Planner:
On AMAZON:
Or
WEBSITE:

This video is our travel guide to Tamarindo Costa Rica. We review what to do, what to eat, and places to stay. We are a traveling family of four with kids ages 7 and 11 and we love Costa Rica and will be going back.

Our favourite things to do include:
Beaches
Playa Flamingo
This tropical beach has crystal blue waters and white sand. When you picture a beach, this is usually what comes to mind. Some activities you can do here are scuba diving, surfing, and just frolicking in the water. This is one of Tamarindo’s jewels. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Tamarindo

Playa Langosta
If you’re looking for a laid-back atmosphere this is the beach for you. Beautiful white sand, small hotels, and a great beach club where you can soak in a pool all day and rent boogie boards. You can also ride horses and go for long walks. It’s Just 2 km south of Tamarindo

Playa Avellanas
Referred to as little Hawaii by the locals. This is a great surfing beach with waves that can reach up to 18 feet. This tranquil secluded white sand beach has a bar with a 400 kg pig that is there to welcome you while you have drinks and food.

Playa Grande
This beach is miles long of fine pale sand, perfect for long strolls on the beach. This is where the leatherback turtles come to lay their eggs. So, if you go at the right time of year, you just might get lucky. It is good to note that this beach is in a protected national park of Las Baulas

Horse Back Riding
Although we didn’t get to this activity the last time we were there, horseback riding is a great activity and worth a mention. Tamarindo offers to ride on the beach or in the country. Our daughter was so disappointed we didn’t go! It cost approximately 50$ us per hour.

Surfing
Tamarindo is a popular destination for surfing because of its beautiful beaches, long waves, and favourable weather conditions. Regardless of your experience level, you’re sure to enjoy your surfing experience here. Lessons are offered for all age groups and cost approximately $50.00 US for 2 hours.

Catamaran Tour
Our family loves getting on the boat for an adventure. A Catamaran tour will cost around 100 US Dollars for a 4 ½ to 5-hour tour. For people who enjoy a day out sailing this is an amazing day out.

Shopping
If you love to shop at the local markets and check artisan wares, Tamarindo has you covered. There is a wide selection of crafts and souvenirs, plenty of them hand-made by locals. Plus, lots of clothing shops in which you can upgrade your beachwear.

Nightlife
If you like vibrant nightlife, this is the place for you. Lots of pubs and restaurants right on the beach many with live bands. There is always something going on after the sun has set

Wildlife
As in all of Costa Rica, there is a ton of wildlife to see. We saw iguanas all over the place, howler monkeys, tropical birds, scorpions, and if you’re brave enough there are tours of the mangroves where there are crocodiles.

Sunsets
Most people love a beautiful Sunset. Well, you don’t want to miss the sunsets in Tamarindo, we’ve travelled the world and the sunsets here are so unique and stunning.

WHAT TO EAT:
Eat at Sodas
When you visit Costa Rica and you have to try Sodas which are little family-owned local Costa Rican restaurants that are usually small and open air. They serve traditional Costa Rican dishes and they are popular with the locals. Must-try dishes include Gallo pinto – it is a dish of rice, beans, onions, red peppers, and cilantro.

Costa Rican Coffee
We are huge fans of coffee and love trying different coffees as we travel. Coffee is grown and produced in abundance in Costa Rica and is one of their major exports. They take their coffee seriously and have won many international awards around the world for their coffee. Make sure you try it!

Coconut water & fresh fruit drinks
Called “Pipa fria” which is known as a cold coconut is sold at roadside stands and on the beach. It costs between $1 and $2. We drank a ton of these refreshing drinks! There is also plenty of blended smoothie-type fruit stands at the side of the road that is so delicious!

WHERE TO STAY
There are plenty of types of accommodations in Costa Rica including hotels, fancy resorts, rental Condos, and our favourite Airbnbs. What you choose depends on what your needs are. Everywhere we travel, budget is always a consideration so we find Airbnb the best deal.

$120 Balcony Room - QE2 Luxury Cruise Liner ????????????????

The QE2 is a luxury British cruise liner that ended her service in 2008. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a couple of nights on the ship though, as it is now permanently docked in Dubai and being used as a hotel.

0:00 QE2 Cruise Liner
2:03 $120 Captain's Room
8:26 $50 Afternoon Tea
32:15 Exploring the Ship
47:35 Pot Noodle
52:18 Day 2
57:39 Sea View Room
1:01:07 Gym
1:06:18 Fish and Chips
1:17:18 QE2 Heritage Tour

When the ship was bought by Dubai they originally had plans for it to be located at The Palm. Those plans, like many other ambitious projects, were put on hold due to the financial crisis at that time and it wasn't until 10 years later, in 2018, that it finally opened as a hotel, moored at Port Rashid, which is the main cruise terminal for Dubai, 60 km distance from The Palm.

I paid $120 per night for a 'Captain's Room with Balcony', which, as one of the higher categories of rooms, is significantly cheaper than it would have cost while the ship was in service.

The rooms have been renovated to bring them up to modern hotel standards. It did feel like a standard 4 star hotel room, albeit quite a bit smaller. I've been staying in a similar standard of room, not too far away, for $40 per night, so it doesn't represent value for money as an actual hotel room, but you're mostly paying for the experience when you stay on the QE2.

Shortly after checking in I visited the Queen's Grill restaurant for afternoon tea. This was the first class restaurant when the ship was sailing, serving only the passengers with the higher priced tickets.

It was necessary to book and pay for the afternoon tea 24 hours in advance. Not because the restaurant was busy. Far from it. I think it must be because it takes some time to prepare the 13 items in the set, so it's difficult to make it available to walk-ins.

I booked the Britannia package which cost 195 AED ($53 USD / £39 GBP).

It included:

5 Finger Sandwiches (Cucumber / Cheddar & Branston pickle / Smoked salmon, chives and cream cheese roulade / Egg mayonnaise with watercress / Roast chicken with Pommery mustard)

3 Hot Pastries (Chicken & Herb Wellington with horse radish cream / Quail Scotch eggs wrapped in smoked fish mousse / Mini sundried tomato & mushroom pie)

5 Desserts (Chocolate profiteroles / Lemon and thyme posset / Fresh strawberry tart / Bakewell tart / Carrot cake)

It also came with a couple of scones. Drinks were also included.

I enjoyed all the food apart from that Branston Pickle. That stuff is nasty! The Scotch Egg, Mushroom Pie, Bakewell Tart and Scones were especially tasty.

After lunch I got very lost trying to find my way back to my cabin but it turned out to be an excellent way to explore the ship. I found the theatre, ball room and an old casino with slot machines from the 1970's.

I didn't have the best night's sleep on my first night on the ship. This was mainly due to the noise from outside. There's some loud droning noise that is constant and can be heard from inside the room. It looked as if there was some massive power generator or something near the ship.

On the second day I asked to be moved to the other side of the ship, from a city view to a sea view room. It normally costs 50 AED per night extra but they relocated me there without charge. This was much better as that horribly irritating noise couldn't be heard from there.

It was also much a nicer view, of water and ships. The city view room did have a view of the Dubai skyline but it's very far away and there's nothing pleasant to look at in-between there and the ship.

I used the gym on the second day, which is located on the 7th floor. The numbering system of the floors is the opposite of a tower building, so the 7th floor is actually the bottom one.

I had seen photos of the ship when it was in service and the gym was equipped with first generation Cybex equipment. I was happy to find out that those have been replaced with latest generation Technogym machines.

I enjoyed a post-workout fish and chips in my room at sunset. It would have been nice to enjoy it on the balcony, but even at sunset it's just too hot to enjoy the outdoors in Dubai during summer.

After I checked out I was given a tour of the ship by Mr Peter who was a member of crew during the QE2's active service. He is full of information and has loads of interesting and humorous stories to tell. The heritage tour lasts an hour and costs 85 AED ($23 USD / £17 GBP) according to their website but they only charged me 65 AED, maybe because I was a hotel guest.
