Commonly known as The Nature Island, Dominica juts up from the glistening waters of the Caribbean to serve as a beacon for world revelers and travelers seeking solace in a place that time has forgotten. One of the best-kept secrets of the Caribbean, the island is a verdant tapestry of lush rainforests, towering mountains, rushing rivers, welcoming waterfalls, and volcanic wonders—everything you need to rejuvenate your mind and body.
Resting in the heart of the Eastern Caribbean archipelago between Martinique and Guadeloupe, it's known officially as Commonwealth of Dominica.
The hike through Titou Gorge is actually a short swim from the base of a waterfall through a series of natural rooms and ponds formed by high cliff walls canopied by interlaced trees. The undulating sides of this deep, narrow gorge were formed as molten lava cooled and split apart. The name, by the way, is Creole for 'small throat.' Scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed here.
A little way’s inland from Roseau and enveloped by tropical forest is the tiny village of Wotten Waven. Popular with Dominicans and travellers alike, Wotten Waven is well-known for its natural hot sulfur springs and mud pools that are believed to have medicinal qualities. Regardless of their actual healing powers, the hot springs offer a relaxing and reviving experience after a long day. There’s no better natural medicine to soothe sore muscles — or calm jittery nerves — than by settling into the spring’s naturally muddy water.

The boat ride not recommended with a hangover but you can get a one way for $207-$350.
They use the carribean dollar and have public transporation for good price
Also there's no Hostels in the island. If you're not doing the all inclusive, you can get a place from airbnb and Expedia for $65 a night
A trip to the Dominica Is not complete without visiting the Kalinago people

Another hike from the Caribbean Island of Dominica. Today we did a simple hike in preparation for the Final Event. A lunch at Kempinski. Was a very short hike but enjoyed it.

Dominica (not to be confused with the Dominican Republic) is a beautiful island located in the caribbeans beetween Guadeloupe and Martinique.
This scuba diving trip takes place in the west side of the Island, and the dive centre was located between Coulibistrie and Baroui.
A few facts about Dominica..
Dominica has been nicknamed the Nature Isle of the Caribbean for its natural environment.
It is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, and in fact it is still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity, as evidenced by the world's second-largest hot spring, called Boiling Lake.
The island has lush mountainous rainforests, and it is the home of many rare plants, animals, and bird species.
There are xeric areas in some of the western coastal regions, but heavy rainfall occurs inland.
The sisserou parrot, also known as the imperial amazon and found only on Dominica, is the island's national bird and featured on the national flag, which is one of only two national flags containing the colour purple (the other being Nicaragua).
There are nine volcanoes in Dominica, and a river for each day of the year.
The island was settled by the Arawak arriving from South America in the 5th century.
They were the first inhabitants of the island and are known today as the Kalinago people.
They named Dominica Wait’tukubuli, meaning “Tall is her body.”
Today, there are about 3,000 living on the island, representing the largest native population in the region. Most reside in the Kalinago Territory
Columbus is said to have passed the island on Sunday 3 November 1493.
It was later colonised by Europeans, predominantly by the French from the 1690s to 1763. The French imported enslaved people from West Africa to Dominica.
Great Britain took possession in 1763 after the Seven Years' War, and it gradually established English as its official language.
The island republic gained independence (from the United Kingdom) in 1978.
