豆汁儿, fermented mung bean soup, is a famous breakfast choice for local Beijingers. The strong fermented flavor may not be for all but this is such an interesting culture symbol for traditional Beijingers’ life. For this reason, it is worth knowing, smelling, and tasting!

For me, it smells like pickled green bean. And the process of making it resembles yogurt. Only the substrate is mung bean soup instead of milk.

This little place in Beijing is also famous for its fermented mung bean soup. They open daily from 5:30 am to 12:30 pm.

In this video, I also tasted another traditional food - Millet paste with sesame sauce 面茶.
