ZAGREB Travel Guide - Tips & Tricks!

Before You Go To ZAGREB Croatia, Watch This. I’m Rok and I’ve spent last 8 years travelling around Europe as a tour guide. In want to share with you my favourite Zagreb Travel Tips that will make your First time in Zagreb experience much easier.

First I am gonna tell you what to expect from Zagreb with quick history of Zagreb. Second I am gonna focus on Where to stay in Zagreb. Then I am gonna talk about the transport system, Zagreb tram ride and other ways to get around Zagreb. Next I will cover local money called croatian kuna and its conversion rates. And at the end I will give you some tips and ideas that might help you if you decide to visit Zagreb.

1. WHAT TO EXPECT & Quick history of Zagreb
Zagreb is capital of Croatia and its largest city. It has more museums per square foot than any other city in the world. The city is famous for its caffe culture and attracts around a million visitors per year. Its main attraction is its compact historical city centre split between medieval Upper town and late 19 century Lower town famous for its beautiful buildings, restaurants, cafes, parks and squares.

2.Where To Stay in Zagreb
Zagreb is beautiful historical city centre is relatively compact and is divided between The Upper Town, Kaptol and The Lower Town. All three parts offer good starting point for exploring the city. The Lower town offers many hotels, restaurants, cafes and shops and it is considered to be the heart of everyday life in Zagreb. It also offers good public transport and has main transport hubs.

3. Zagreb Public Transport
If you are in a good physical shape you can get to almost all the sights on foot. In Zagreb you can use the world shortest funicular, taxis, uber, buses, trams and a mini tourist train that runs only on weekends and will get you to the main sights free of charge. All means of public transport in Zagreb are painted blue.

4. Croatian kuna
Although Croatia is part of the European Union it is not yet part of The monetary Union. That means they are still using their own currency called Croatian Kuna.

5. Zagreb TIPS & IDEAS
Zagreb 360 or Zagreb eye offers great 360 views over the city.
Zagreb won the Best European Christmas Market title 3 years in a row.
If you like winter sports you can do skiing on the nearby peak Sljeme.

Join us as we head to one of the nearby islands called Brac. Explore a little of the city Supetar, have a local meal, explore a beautiful cemetery, enjoy the Adriatic sea and head back home before starting work.
This is my girlfriend Lynn, my buddy Nick, his wife Billie Jean and I’m Bobby Starks. We are 4 Americans living and working in Split Croatia for 6 weeks just for the adventure.

Catching a boat out of Split is easy. The fairies are about a 10-minute walk from the Riva in the old town and cost 55 Kuna for a round trip to Brac. Roughly $9 US and a 45-minute boat ride.

Many of the questions I see online is if you can drink on the fairies and the answer is yes. You would actually be the odd one out if you didn't. We brought our own, but they do have a bar on board.

Brac is an island in the Adriatic Sea within Croatia. It is the largest island in Dalmatia and the third-largest in the Adriatic with a population of about 14,000 people.

The economy of Brač is based mostly on tourism, but fishing and agriculture are very important too.

After some shopping, we took a 20 min walk to a restaurant on the water called Punta. It was a beautiful place but it was very windy that day so we sat inside their protected patio. Our Konobar, Croatian for Waiter, was a cool guy and before even giving us the menu suggested to make us a dish that is from the island. I made the decision to just say yes without knowing what it was. All I know is that it was amazing. Family style serving some type of meat, some stew and of something like stuffed cord on blue, but it was very good and we definitely enjoyed the fresh salad they brought out with it.

An unexpected highlight of supetar is its fascinating cemetery, full of striking sculptural monuments. Grandest of all is the Petrinovic family mausoleum. Built from the white Brac stone between 1924 and 1927. This precious white stone was also used in building Diocletians palace in Split and the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. Very widespread is also the claim that it was used in the White House in Washington, D.C.
A striking crucifix is visible if you peer through the keyhole.

After paying our respects, there is a very beautiful beach right outside the south gate to some crystal blue water. Relaxing for a bit and again, I was the only one to get in the ocean with it being 17 degrees Celcuse and went for a little swim. I’m sure its packed with people during the high season, but right now, it was a perfect little oasis.

It was time to head back to Split so we loaded up on the fairy and I was surprised when I saw this semi-truck drive onboard. Quite impressed actually.

Hi guys, welcome to my channel, a Vietnamese girl travel the world
Im in Zagreb, It is ealy of July and the weather is just so cool.
The temprature is 25 dregree, not so hot, not so cold. It is a perfect day to discover around the city. Let’s go
Jelacic square - this is the main square of Zagreb, here you can see there are beautiful buildings surrounding the square, most buildings here are from the 19th century and have different architectural style, Now we are walking up to the Cathedral of Zagreb this is the tallest building in Croatia for now
It has a great architectural value, and it is consider to be a landmark of Zagreb because it is visible from most parts of the city
Dolac Market is just 50m from the Cathedral, let’s go there and take a look. Dolac market is one of hundreds farmer markets in Zagreb
The market is about 80 years old. Look! It is full of life and colour.
This is the place where locals buy their food, And most products here are homegrown vegestable.
We are in Tkalciceva street, a pretty walking street with cafes, restaurants and colorful houses So let’s check it out
And guys, don’t forget to subcribe my channel for more videos
We are in front of stone gate. The legend says that, There was a great fire in 1731 Burn most of the stone gate Expect the painting of Virgin and Child. Since then, this place become a place for religions passengers Come to light a candle
Do you know that tie is originally from Croatia? Kravata sounds similar to Croatia - name of the country
Here we are in front of one of the world greatest attractions - Mark’s church, The church has a white wall and colorful roof. On the left is medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia, the emblem of Zagreb on the right. The church, originally from the 13th century
Behind me is the Lotrščak tower was build in the 13th century. And on top of the tower is a cannon. Every day, for over hundred and ten years, the cannon fires exactly at noon in memory of an event from Zagreb history.
it was a really nice day visiting around Zagreb. In my impression is Zagreb is a very ancient city, romantic and not so crowded.
