Hello Friends,
Well the time had finally come to move on and undertake the next big leg of my circumnavigation. I departed Kona, Hawaii after spending 9 months licking my wounds, repairing Triteia and exploring the Hawaiian Islands.
The passage from Hawaii to the Tuamotus took 26 days and covered 2323nm, which should be the longest passage of my entire circumnavigation.
I want to thank my shore team with special thanks to David Frederick and Sarah Koenig for your help during the crossing.
This episode is being released on the one year anniversary of my arrival to Oahu.

After a peaceful night on the hook, I wake up in one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited; Magical Moorea. I get into some land adventures with Jay West where we go find the blue eyed eels in a fresh water creek then I head out for a dinghy adventure in the outer reaches of the lagoon.

Sailing to Tahiti and Moorea
In this video, we sail from Rangiroa Atoll to Tahiti. After anchoring and then getting a slip, we venture into the Tahitian island to do some exploring and hiking. Our adult children fly in and then we sail from Tahiti to Moorea for the Tahiti/Moorea Sailing Rendezvous and have a huge party with all of the other Pacific Puddle Jump sailors.

Aitutaki is a gem of the South Pacific islands. A place where kiteboarders congregate. After a three day sail from Bora Bora we pulled into Aitutaki with plans to stay a month. Unfortunately for us, a new law had been passed that disallowed the use of tenders by any yacht inside the lagoon making our experience there rather short due to the cost of having to hire a tour operator every day. We did however get out to the kite island for a day and oh man, did we ever have fun! This place really is magic.

We leave Tahiti and make the small passage to the nearby beautiful island of Moorea.
We check out the sealife and plunge into waters filled with circling sharks and very inquisitive stingrays!
Then it’s off to the island of Raiatea on an overnight passage.

Moorea: Top three things you need to do!
Welcome to Moorea! The beautiful island just off the coast of Tahiti is, truly, our favorite place in the entire world at this point. Just 20 minutes by ferry from Tahiti lies the spectacular island paradise, home to several overwater hotels and mom and pop boutiques. So, we're here to share the top three things to keep in mind when planning your vacation! We're going to share where to stay, what to do and activities that are not to be missed:

While Moorea is a small island, there's an incredible amount to do. From ATV tours around the island, hiking inland, scuba diving and dining out at wonderful restaurants, you cannot go wrong with the beauty of the island.
Our first tip is to visit Les Tipaniers Beach. We've stayed at the little hotel before, on our first trip to Moorea, but it's a must-do for anyone looking to kite board, or simply visit one of the most picturesque beaches on the island.
2, stay in an overwater hut! At often half the price of Bora Bora, you can stay in an overwater bungalow and wake up to the bluest water you'll ever see. Check out the Hilton or Sofitel for the best options.
Lastly, a boat tour is a must. The island is completely circled by a large lagoon, allowing the calm waters to softly lap agains the shore. Exploring by boat is an excellent option if you want to see the island from a whole new perspective.
Overall, Moorea has so much to explore and we highly recommend a stay on our favorite place on earth.

Moorea, an island in French Polynesia is truly one of the South Pacific’s best kept hidden gems. This glorious paradise offers everything travelers like my wife and I look for—panoramic mountain views, hiking trails leading to breathtaking island views, white sandy beaches, calm and shallow turquoise waters, picturesque bays, and a variety of activities that will surely keep you in awe. During this trip, we were able to experience plenty of activities—from circling the island waters on a jet ski, swimming with humpback whales, sharks and stingrays, boating, snorkeling, ATV tour around mountains and plantations, parasailing, and the unique experience that the Tiki Village had to offer. This may be very bold for us to say, but Moorea, you are, by far, the most beautiful place we've been to in this wonderful world.

The adventures with mom continue and as per usual, life on a boat never goes as planned. We wanted to show Mary the deeper side of Mo‘orea but ran into some issues with our air compressor. So, in lieu of sinking down and exploring the watery depths of this volcanic island, we head up and into the visually intoxicating belly of the crater.
Prehistoric views, lumbering trees, Jurassic sized flora and fields of pineapples ahead. Oh, and plenty of bugs too, so you may want to bring your lemongrass oil along.

Take it easy and let your wife do all the sailing. That is what Linus does when Janna, Sophie, Daly (dog), and he sail from Papeete Marina in Tahiti to Moorea (Jurassic Park island) in their Island Packet sailboat. They check out the belvedere with Janna doing all the rowing of their Walker Bay. The Slow Boat Crew have been sailing around the world from New Orleans since 2016. This was filmed in July 2017.
Sophie wears a Sailing Zatara hat that was left in the give away box after their monohull (before they sold it) sailed away from Tahiti a few weeks before. When we were in New Caledonia in 2019, Sophie said she did not remember visiting Tahiti two years before. Hopefully, this video will jog her memory.

Winter. What’s winter? Cruising around the world more or less near the equator has meant we have had pretty much three years of perpetual Summer. Just how we like it! But after many months of cruising, we decided to pop home for a visit. Well it turns out summer in the southern hemisphere (aka cyclone season) is the time we for us to head home. Well our beautiful endless summer came to a SCREECHING HALT. Hello Winter! Our former stomping grounds are on Vancouver Island, Canada. As far as Canada goes, we get off easy in Winter as it generally only rains. A lot. So what do we do with all this time at home in Winter? Well hello! We better go Snowboarding of course!
