Went out with the hopes of creating a shelter out of a natural formation and found this incredible location. slept in this cave, in the dirt with heavy snow and a snowstorm outside

Smoke at beginning of Video:
I used a clip at 0:47 that I took later in the day because it looked good at that part not realizing that there was clearly smoke showing in the background. I used the same clip at 3:44 which is when I took the video

Don’t put your face inside your sleeping bag. How to stay warm winter camping in -15c/59f

How An EMERGENCY Blanket Almost KILLED me! | Winter Camping FAIL!

Emergency blankets. You know all about them right? WRONG! Using one of these in the wrong ways at the wrong time could prove fatal... BELIEVE ME!

*NOTE*: What I describe in this video was NOT an emergency survival situation! The advice given is my own PERSONAL experience for trying to stay COMFORTABLE in the backcountry. In an emergency situation ensure you have the skills and knowledge of what to do and how to properly use your gear (including when to get an emergency blanket RIGHT NEXT TO A PERSON'S SKIN) and listen to experts (which I am NOT).

Vapour barriers can actually be incredibly effective to keep a person both warm AND dry. By limiting the amount of evaporation, you can limit the amount of heat loss, while allowing for more conscious nuanced decisions about personal thermoregulation. My favourite backpacking YouTuber (Jason THEBestBackpacker) talks about this concept at 3:52 in this video: For MORE information on Vapour Barriers Read Andrew Skurka's write up here:

2 DAYS in the Snow cave / Giant Winter Bushcraft Shelter ASMR

We don't have much snow this year, but because of the winds, it usually accumulates at the bottom of the cliff. With the help of a stick, I managed to find this place and determine the depth. Unfortunately, this time not everything turned out as smoothly as I expected, for example, raw firewood and burnt meat, but all this is nothing! It turned out to be a great snow cave for survival!

Homeless man sleeps out in the snow at -18°C

In this eye-opening video, we follow the story of James McGilvery, who chooses to experience what it's like to be homeless during Canada's harsh winter. With temperatures nearing minus 20 degrees, James finds solace in a makeshift tent off Recreation Avenue, a space designated by the city for those in need. Despite the availability of shelters, James opts for this personal experiment to understand the reality of surviving the cold outdoors.

Through the interview, we learn about James's setup: a sleeping bag, pallets for insulation from the ground, blankets, plastic bags for moisture protection, and hand warmers for additional warmth. His surprising revelation that he considers this situation good for him challenges viewers to think about homelessness and the human spirit's resilience.

This video not only highlights the critical issue of homelessness in Canada but also sheds light on individual experiences within the broader context of social support systems and their accessibility. Join the conversation in the comments below and share your thoughts on this compelling story.

3 Days Solo Winter Camping - deep snow, no tent, below -20°C

2 nights out in the woods and some seriously difficult snowshoeing and cold weather in Ontario, Canada. The first-day temp was around -12C and dropped to -20C overnight, by far the coldest I have ever experienced sleeping outside. My tarp shelter worked against me this night, an experience I will never forget.

The second night stayed around -9C through the night with light snow so I went without my tarp, a beautiful relaxed evening beneath the stars.

------ Commonly asked questions: ------

Why are you cutting down trees?
The trees I cut down are all dead, trees that die and remain standing dry out and prevent rain and moisture from saturating the wood so it makes great firewood.
Live trees contain a lot of moisture and don't burn, I also love trees and I don't cut down live trees

If you are alone who's filming?
I film everything myself from a tripod and yes I do walk back to get the camera when I film myself walking away from the camera. it's pretty straightforward, it just takes time. Two Unedited Clips from the video -

Are you scared of wild animals?
Bears are Hibernating over winter and wolves aren't an issue in this area, so no

-20C wheres your jacket?
The first-day temp was around -12C and dropped to -20C overnight. Pulling the sled sawing/chopping wood and working hard creates a lot of sweat. If I sweat it will eventually freeze which is bad news so when I'm working I wear a long sleeve a small sweater than a big wool sweater which is on the cooler side but prevents sweating and is perfect for the conditions.

Spoon? Why not Chopsticks?
I ate oatmeal, soup and rice not shown in the video, the sausage spoon thing was a joke :p Yes, chopsticks would work better and are easier for sausage, and yes I am proficient with chopsticks :p

What's with the Poo?
It was some animal Scat I found, I was curious and I didn't recognize it, was hoping someone would point out what animal it was. Its likely Fox scat

Heavy Snowfall Solo Camping | Ep.7

Solo camping in the snow in a hot tent.
Weather has suddenly changed from rain to heavy snow.

It was raining lightly when we arrived at the campsite.

The rain melted the snow, and it was very difficult to set up because our feet were buried in the snow.

After setting up safely, we grilled delicious steaks on the wood stove and went to bed.

By night, the rain had turned to snow.

The tent was very spacious and safe to sleep in.

When I woke up in the morning, I was surprised to see a lot of snow on the ceiling of my tent.

The weight of the snow bent the tent poles.

The snow shoveling went very smoothly.

After breakfast, we relaxed a bit and then took a nap.

When I woke up from my nap, the weather had changed to heavy snow.

There was quite a bit of snow around the tent.

We felt that if the snow continued to fall at this rate, the tents were in danger of being buried, so we began to take them down in a hurry.

We managed to complete the cleanup by sundown.

It was a camp where we learned about weather changes and the greatness of nature.

Thank you for watching.

Long Fire
Delicious food on the fire

About This Video:
Winter camping one night in severe frost and storm. I make a shelter from a tent poncho, make a long fire, and cook delicious food on the fire.

All the wood I collect is dead trees.
To avoid falling into a fire at night, I reinforce the sleeping place.
The lower branches of the spruce die off and slow down the growth of the tree. By cutting these branches I help the tree grow big and healthy.

The spruce branches prevent the skins from getting wet from the snow.
During the day it started getting warmer and windier.
Most of the snow was blown off the trees. A large piece of snow fell on the awning and one of its hinges burst. I had to secure the awning again.

While I was preparing logs for the long fire, a strong storm came, the weather deteriorated, it became very cold, the wind rose, and the temperature began to drop quickly.

As night approached, there was a lull - the trees were crackling from the cold.
The night was without wind, the smoke from the fire rose vertically.
The fire burned all night, it was warm.

In the morning it started to warm up again.
Breakfast was bacon and bread, which I made with flour and water.

Thank you for watching.

↟↟In this video I set up a winter camping in a snow shelter called an igloo. My shelter is very similar to a snow bunker, isn't it? This is my first building of this kind in my life.
I also took my first walk on snowshoes, which I made right in the Forest. Grilled ribs on a campfire is what I call wild cooking. A cup of fragrant chicory coffee in the morning is the best start to a new day.
I hope you enjoy..
