Mauritius , officially the Republic of Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres off the southeast coast of the African continent, east of Madagascar.
It includes the main island , as well as Rodrigues, Agaléga and St. Brandon.
The islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues, along with nearby Réunion , are part of the Mascarene Islands.
The capital and largest city, Port Louis, is located in Mauritius, where most of the population is concentrated.
The country spans 2,040 square kilometres and has an exclusive economic zone covering 2.3 million square kilometres
By some accounts, Arab sailors were the first to discover the uninhabited island, around 975, and they called it Dina Arobi, but this has not been confirmed.
The earliest confirmed discovery was in 1507 by Portuguese sailors, who otherwise took little interest in the islands.
The Dutch took possession in 1598, establishing a succession of short-lived settlements over a period of about 120 years, before abandoning their efforts in 1710.
France took control in 1715, renaming it Isle de France.
In 1810, the island was seized by Great Britain, and four years later France ceded Mauritius and its dependencies to Britain.
As a British colony, Mauritius included Rodrigues, Agaléga, St. Brandon, Tromelin, the Chagos Archipelago, and, until 1906, the Seychelles.
Sovereignty over Tromelin is disputed between Mauritius and France, as it was not specifically mentioned in the Treaty of Paris.

Port Louis, Mauritius 2020
Port Louis (French: Port-Louis) is the capital city of Mauritius. It is mainly located in the Port Louis District, with a small western part in the Black River District. Port Louis is the country's economic, cultural and political centre, and most populous city. It is administered by the Municipal City Council of Port Louis.
Port Louis was used as a harbour by the Dutch settlers from 1606, when they started to refer to the area as Harbour of Tortoises.[3] In 1736, under French government, it became the administrative center of Mauritius and a major reprovisioning halt for French ships during their passage between Asia and Europe, around the Cape of Good Hope.[4] The Port is named in honor of King Louis XV. During this period of French colonization, Mauritius was known as Ile de France. The French governor at that time, Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais, contributed to the development of the city. Since Port Louis was relatively well-protected from strong winds during cyclones by the Moka Mountain Range, Port Louis was selected to house both the main harbor and fort for the island. Value of the port continued during the British occupation of the island during the Napoleonic Wars (1800–15), and helped Britain control the Indian Ocean. However, port calls of ships fell drastically following the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. Activity in the port increased during the seven-year closure of the Suez Canal (starting in 1967). Modernization of the port in the late 1970s has helped it maintain its role as the central point for all imports and exports from Mauritius. While Port Louis continues to be the business and administrative capital of Mauritius, expansion of the tourism industry in the late 1990s led to considerable development in Port Louis, with many shops, hotels, and restaurants being built in the Caudan Waterfront area.

Air Mauritius Airbus A330neo Flying Experience
I have flown my first Airbus A330-900neo with Air Mauritius from London to Mauritius. During the flight, the pilot explained the difference between A330neo and the older A330 (A330ceo). There are new features and technologies on the A330neo.
We flew over Mount Blanc and the Alps before heading South towards Africa. I was able to record a beautiful sunrise from the cockpit and a smooth landing into Mauritius. Check out the seating, food and service on-board Air Mauritius.
The A330-900neo on Air Mauritius was a beautiful flying experience indeed. This is the first episode of two. I will be exploring Mauritius and flying their A350 in next episode.

You will arrive at the Seychelles International Airport, which is located 7 miles (11 kilometres) from Victoria on the island of Mahe. Bus services and taxis are available to carry passengers to any point on the island.
Airport facilities include a tourism kiosk, duty-free shopping, banking and currency exchange facilities, ATMs, restaurants and bars, and an executive lounge.
Accommodations
There’s a wide range of accommodations to choose from, including large hotels, guesthouses, island resorts, and budget holiday accommodations. Large hotels include the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles in Mahé and the Raffles Praslin Seychelles in Praslin. Great guesthouses include Bernique Guesthouse in La Digue and Beau Vallon in Mahé.
