Prince Edward County | DIY Winery Tour 2020
In August we went to Prince Edward County, Ontario for a DIY wine tour of the area. We packed a picnic and hit the road bright and early to make the drive from the Toronto area to The County.

Sandbanks Winery Tour | What to do in Prince Edward County

I love a good weekend road trip. For my birthday this year, I took Friday off work and we drove to Prince Edward County for 3 days. Enamoured by the endless rows of vineyards, chic inns (Hi, Drake Devonshire) and classic small-town-Ontario Main Street shops, I knew it would be a great getaway.
Finding a place to stay in the summer right near the downtown of Picton isn't easy or cheap, so Joseph found a lovely spot at The Owl's Nest Suites in Belleville which was about a 10-20 min drive from all of our desired attractions. I’d recommend staying either in Wellington or Picton if you can. This would allow for more walking and less driving, but the winding roads are still very fun as you get to see pretty fields, cows and horsies.
One disappointing fact was that it rained all day on Sunday, and it wasn't very warm overall. Because of this, we didn't get to visist Sandbanks and we avoided walking through the Provincial Parks due to the risk of flies and mosquitoes. I would love to go back again to enjoy the beach on a warm day.

Introducing Prince Edward County, or “The County” as most folks living there would refer to it.
It's a quick little day trip from Toronto and is as picturesque as a Norman Rockwell painting.
Why go to The County?
Do you like food? Of course you do! PEC has been called “the gastronomic Capital of Ontario”. There are so many restaurants and cafés to choose from. East and Main ( consistently comes up as one of the best places to eat in Wellington. Hipsters swear by the food at Drake Devonshire ( And if you like wood fired pizza, most wineries now include this delicious offering on their menus. (Jon & Cheryl have always said that you shouldn’t trust someone who doesn’t like pizza.)
Do you like antiques? PEC is a wonderland of shops filled with dead people’s stuff. Our favourite was Dead People’s Stuff (
Do you like wine? Tyrion Lannister himself would approve of the plethora of wineries. From the larger Sandbanks Winery ( and Huff Estates ( to the smaller Rosehall Run ( there are too many others to list here. (Just ask for a nice Dornish Red.)

THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED CANADIAN CITY | Charlottetown, PEI Travel Guide
If you're planning to vacation in Canada, I would highly recommend putting Charlottetown, PEI on your MUST SEE list. This beautiful little city has so much to offer in terms of activities, restaurants and beautiful accommodations. But not only that, it is very safe and also very well taken care of. Summer is definitely the best season to visit Prince Edward Island in general, but it would also be very beautiful in the late Spring or early Autumn as we did. I hope this video will inspire you with some ideas of things to see and do in Charlottetown and I would love to know any other suggestions from locals in the comment section! A day trip to Prince Edward County | One with the patio, food, swim and amazing beach in a cute town
A day trip vlog to Wellington, Prince Edward County, a cute little town ~ 2 hours from Toronto. If you have been to Goa, India; this would just remind you of that every bit and more.
1) Take the 401 and pitstop at Big apple, a Roadside venue featuring counter-serve dining, a country store, mini golf & kiddie train rides.
2) If you are hungry, La condesa is a must stop. It is the best food we have had in a while. Check it out here:
3) Our initial plan was to visit Sandbanks beach, but as we couldn't find day passes, we decided to checkout Wellington beach and god we weren't disappointed. You must go for a swim or atleast dip your feet.
Our short Trip to Prince Edward County - WELLINGTON
It’s the coolest spot when the weather is hot. Wellington is located directly on the north shore of Lake Ontario. The village boasts a central position amongst the many wineries in the Prince Edward County wine region.
Wellington Rotary Beach, just a short stroll from downtown, has a stony beach and boardwalk leading to an iconic lighthouse. Many of Wellington’s original settlers were United Empire Loyalists whose descendants still live in the village. In fact, one of Ontario’s oldest homes, built in 1786, is nestled right in town. Just up the street you can visit the weekly farmers’ market.
Stroll the market stands overlooking the lake’s sparkling waters and pick up art, clothing, jewelry, crafts, baked goods, and of course, locally-grown fruits & veg. Stay in a cozy B&B, inn or lakeside cottage. Fuel yourself at some of the best eateries, ranging from cheery cafés to true gourmet restaurant experiences. Wellington is a great home base to spend a few days tasting local wines, browsing pottery, painting, glassworks and more at local galleries and studios.
