Today I woke up thinking I was flying from Chad to Mali. But due to an unexpected flight cancellation (on my 2nd leg), I was left in Lomé, Togo for 24 hours. I definitely wasn't mad about it because it means that I have the chance to explore a new place! It's country #150 and also my very first time in West Africa.

Togo is a West African country, squeezed in between Ghana on the west and Benin on the east, with a minor border with Burkina Faso to the north, and coastline on the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
This country has the reputation of one of the nicest places in Western Africa.
Overall if you go and visit Togo, chances are you will have no negative experiences or incidents. However, it is a country where you should be vigilant and take all possible precaution measures in order to minimize the risk of something going wrong.

Togolese cuisine is the cuisine of the Togolese Republic, a country in Western Africa. Staple foods in Togolese cuisine include maize, rice, millet, cassava, yam, plantain and beans. Maize is the most commonly consumed food in the Togolese Republic.Fish is a significant source of protein. People in Togo tend to eat at home, but there are also restaurants and food stalls.
What is a popular food in Togo?
A staple of Togo's cuisine and culture is fufu. Fufu is a traditional dish made from boiled yams, which are mashed into a dough and served with a variety of sauces and side dishes. Pates, another culinary staple of Togo, are made from maize floor or cassava and are also served with sauces made from vegetables or meats.
Traditional Food you most taste whenever you are in Togo. Togolese dishes are typical of west african dish with most of the abit starchy with vegetables . Most togo traditional food are sold on the street and are easily affordable. One of my favorite Togolese dish is the fufu with okra soup with bush meat.
