Panama (Immigrate To Panama, Retire In Panama, Expats In Panama)

Panama (A Look Into Beautiful Panama). Immigrate To Panama, Retire In Panama, Expats In Panama

Panama, officially the Republic of Panama, is a transcontinental country in Central America and South America, bordered by Costa Rica to the West, Colombia to the South East, the Caribbean Sea to the North, and the Pacific Ocean to the South.

The capital and largest city is Panama City, whose metropolitan area is home to nearly half the country's four million people and counting.

Panama was inhabited by indigenous tribes before the Spanish colonists arrived in the 16th century. It broke away from Spain in 1821 and joined the Republic of Gran Colombia, a union of Nueva Granada, Ecuador, and Venezuela.

Panama's wildlife is the most diverse in Central America. It is home to many South American species as well as to North American wildlife.

Panama has a tropical climate. Temperatures are uniformly high, as is the relative humidity, and there is little seasonal variation.

Diurnal ranges are low; on a typical dry season day in the capital city, the early morning minimum may be 24 degrees celcius (75.2 farenheit) and the afternoon maximum 30 degrees celcius (86 farenheit).

The temperature seldom exceeds 32 degrees celcius (89.6 farenheit) for more than a short time. Temperatures on the Pacific side of the isthmus are somewhat lower than on the Caribbean, and breezes tend to rise after dusk, in most parts of the country. Temperatures are, markedly, cooler in the higher parts of the mountain ranges, and frosts occur in the Cordillera de Talamanca in western Panama.

Almost all of the rain falls during the rainy season, which is usually from April to December, but varies in length from seven to nine months. In general, rainfall is much heavier on the Caribbean than on the Pacific side of the continental divide. The annual average in Panama City is little more than half of that in Colón. Although rainy-season thunderstorms are common, the country is outside the hurricane belt.

Panama's tropical environment supports an abundance of plants. Forests dominate, interrupted in places by grasslands, scrub, and crops. Although nearly 40% of Panama is still wooded, deforestation is a continuing threat to the rain-drenched woodlands. Tree cover has been reduced by more than 50 percent since the 1940s. Subsistence farming, widely practised from the northeastern jungles to the southwestern grasslands, consists largely of corn, bean, and tuber plots. Mangrove swamps occur along parts of both coasts, with banana plantations occupying deltas near Costa Rica. In many places, a multi-canopied rain forest abuts the swamp on one side of the country and extends to the lower reaches of slopes on the other.

The Main Provinces In Panama are…
• Bocas del Toro
• Chiriquí
• Cocle
• Colón
• Darién
• Herrera
• Los Santos
• Panamá
• West Panamá; and Veraguas

The Panamanian currency is officially the balboa, fixed at a rate of one to one with the United States dollar since Panamanian independence in 1903. In practice, Panama is dollarized: U.S. dollars are legal tender and used for all paper currency.

Spanish is the official and dominant language. The Spanish spoken in Panama is known as Panamanian Spanish. About 93 percent of the population speak Spanish as their first language. Many citizens who hold jobs at international levels, or at business corporations, speak both English and Spanish. About 14 percent of Panamanians speak English; this number is expected to rise because Panama now requires English classes in its public schools.

Single and Living in Panama with a Life-First Outlook

Welcome back to ILTV! On today’s episode, I chat with Jessica Ramesch, a single woman living her best life in Panama. Subscribe to IL today to find your just-right place overseas:

I first met Jessica at an International Living Panama conference eight years ago. I remember it well, we were at the VIP drinks reception at the Panama Canal and I tried ceviche for the first time. But I remember talking to Jessica and thinking wow, this woman loves her life in Panama. And you know what, that is still true today.

Jessica has some history with Panama, she lived there as a child before her family moved to the U.S. But Panama always called her back.

After working on cruise ships for many years, Jessica decided to create the life she craved. She wanted to live in a place with good weather, where she could be close to the sea, the mountains, cosmopolitan city… and finally, do what she always wanted to do and write for a living.

People often stay at a job because it pays the bills or looks good on paper. But Jessica decided she wanted more. It was a risky move but it paid off.

After spending several years living in Panama City, Jessica recently relocated to the coastal location of Coronado. She is now the proud owner of a stunning apartment, that sits on a golf course with sea views.

Jessica knows the meaning of life first.

You can read more from Jessica on the International Living website:

Pro's Con's about living in Panama City Beach on the Emerald Coast Florida-3

Pro's Con's video of living in Panama City Beach and Panama City on the Emerald Coast Florida. Have you thought about moving to Florida with a family? Maybe you're contemplating moving to Florida in 2021 ? And especially thinking of moving to Florida from NY? Our area is fortunate to have beautiful beaches, but also springs, hunting, fishing, great weather most of the year and family things to do.

This episode shares the Pro's of weather on the Emerald Coast Florida. A Con is the threat of hurricanes. In reality 2018 was themost recent 50 year storm. The big one to hit us prior to Hurricane Michael was Hurricane Camille in 1969. There have been a few Category 1 or 2 hurricanes through the years, but those are the ones you see meme's about hurricane parties. They are just typically a rain storm. I can speak well of this storm as my family did not evacuate and rode it out. I had surgery 6 days prior was part of the decision, but due to the damage and loss of power we did leave a few days later. We did indeed lose our home in the storm so I can share all about that. Difficult times bring about beautiful outcomes... and our story is no different!

All photos/videos of beaches, sunsets, restaurants, etc used in these videos I took myself. No stock photos used.

We Bought MORE LAND In PANAMA (025)

We Bought MORE LAND In Panama

Part 25 of our Story

After saving up for many months, with Jannie doing as much work as he can, without having to pay for help, we finally were able to buy the other piece of land next to us.

We really wanted a total of 2 hectares and the direct access onto the river but we just didn't have enough money to build the house, and buy the land. We had to make a choice. The decision was to buy 1 hectare and start the house build, and see how much it cost.

We were worried we wouldn't have enough money to complete the house so there was no way we could afford both hectares right off the bat. Then we very soon realised how valuable land like ours was and we knew that the more South Africans that came here, the more we were at risk of losing that much wanted piece of ground. We had signed for a first option of both pieces of land next us and when interest was expressed in the one piece we made a decision. We quickly signed up for the piece of land we wanted, and in so doing, we released the right to buy the piece on the other side of us.

We then gave the sellers details to another South African family and we are happy to announce we will also have new South African neighbours.
