What can be better than watching Test Match cricket in the West Indies in February, absolute bliss

George Odlum Stadium

In September 2009, a fire destroyed portions of St Jude Hospital in Vieux Fort, a few miles from the stadium. The Government of St Lucia moved the bulk of the hospital's operations to the stadium, where the large, flexible rooms beneath the stands turned out to be ideal for transformation into the main medical facility for the south of the island

Discover Gros Islet Town in Saint Lucia, West Indies (4K UHD)

Join me as we travel trough the beautiful town Gros Islet.
Gros Islet (English: Large Island) is a community near the northern tip of the island country of Saint Lucia, in the Gros Islet Quarter. Originally a quiet fishing village, it has become one of the more popular tourist destinations in the country.
History
Originally settled by the Carib (and possibly Arawak), the area was first identified as Gros Islet in a French map from 1717.

The community was a Roman Catholic parish, and the first priests who arrived on the island settled in the village in 1749

In 1778, the Anglo-French War broke out between France and Great Britain. As part of the conflict, the British Royal Navy captured the island of Saint Lucia and built a naval base at Gros Islet Bay in 1782, temporarily changing the name to Fort Rodney. The island has changed hands between the British and French throughout its existence.

Between 1991 and 2001, the population rose 54%, the biggest increase in the country.
In 2001, the population of Gros Islet was 19,409, making it the second-most populous community in Saint Lucia, up from 13,505 in the 1991 census and 10,164 in the 1980 census.
Of that number, 9,307 were male and 10,102 were female

Flying over a golf club in Antigua

Aerial view of people practicing golf at a golf course in Antigua, West Indies.

Antigua also known as Waladli or Wadadli by the native population, is an island in the West Indies. It is one of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean region and the main island of the country of Antigua and Barbuda. Antigua and Barbuda became an independent state within the Commonwealth of Nations on 1 November 1981.

Over 32,000 people live in the capital city, St. John's, at 17°6′N 61°45′W. The capital is situated in the north-west and has a deep harbour, which is able to accommodate large cruise ships. Other leading population settlements are All Saints (3,412) and Liberta (2,239), according to the 2001 census.

English Harbour on the south-eastern coast is famed for its protected shelter during violent storms. It is the site of a restored British colonial naval station called Nelson's Dockyard after Captain Horatio Nelson. Today English Harbour and the neighbouring village of Falmouth are internationally famous as a yachting and sailing destination and provisioning centre. During Antigua Sailing Week, at the end of April and beginning of May, the annual world-class regatta brings many sailing vessels and sailors to the island to play sports.

Cricket stadium seen aerially: Caribbean cricketing action

Aerial view of Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia.

Situated on the outskirts of the tourist resort area of Rodney Bay on the island's north-east coast, Beausejour Stadium is one of the Caribbean's newest major venues, completed in 2002 and staging its first international match later that year and its first Test in 2003. In 2006 it became the first ground in the West Indies to stage a floodlight ODI when Zimbabwe were the visitors. Constructed on 22 acres, the stadium has a seating capacity of 15,000 including 18 hospitality suites and a modern pavilion that offers each team its own gym, lounge, balcony and conference room.
