Ruta de las Flores (2019) ATACO & Ahuachapan | EL SALVADOR Travel Guide | Vlog Series
We continue our journey along the Ruta de las Flores here in El Salvador. We arrive in Ahuachapan and spend a day visiting the town of Ataco and enjoy some great coffee and local street food, as we continue exploring El Salvador.
The Ruta de las Flores is a picturesque route, about 20 miles long, in the coffee growing region of El Salvador. The route takes you though lovely villages and is a must if you come to El Salvador.
We spent a few weeks travelling around various parts of El Salvador and if you have heard El Salvador is dangerous and not safe, then from our perspective as tourists we had a fabulous time. El Salvador is full of wonderful kind people who made us feel very welcome and at no point did we feel unsafe.

After more than 22 years of marriage we are still best friends

This was our second day in El Salvador. We'd heard so many scary things about El Salvador, we were definitely being cautious. Although we definitely took precautions, we found the Salvadorans to be very welcoming and hospitable. They are very proud of their country and have a wonderful lust for life.

Hi guys! My name is Bella and I’m originally from the arctic cold country called Finland. I decided to jump off the 9-5 and chase my dreams of traveling and working around the world. In 2016 my Instagram grew really fast and I started to make income through social media, which was the year I started to become a digital nomad.
Now 80 countries later, with the current pandemic, I’ve made a home base in beautiful Central America, a country called El Salvador. I found the love of my life in El Salvador (Fernando) in 2018 on top of a volcano! We have been traveling and working together for the past year. Together we have been working with tourism boards such as Visit Maldives, as well as working with brands like BAC.
Fernando proposed me in the Maldives 2020 and ever since then, we have started our passion project to showcase the most underrated country in Central America - El Salvador. Now we have a goal of traveling around El Salvador and Central America and showcase the beauty of Central America!

Hi sweet friends and welcome back. On today's episode, I take you with me as we explore the town of Ataco in El Salvador. Ataco is a town situated in the western mountain ranges of El Salvador. It is located in the department of Ahuachapan along the popular Flowers Route. I hope you enjoy this video. It was such an incredible experience to be able to walk around the town and really get a sense of the place. I left feeling inspired and truly amazed at the preservation of culture and the vibrancy of the people who live there.

Ataco, El Salvador
Concepción de Ataco es un municipio del departamento Ahuachapán, El Salvador. En nahuat, Atacó significa: “Lugar de elevados manantiales”. La población de Ataco tiene origen precolombino y fue creada por indios yaquis o pipiles en el centro de la sierra de Apaneca.
Por argumentos del arzobispo don Pedro Cortés y Larraz, Ataco pertenecía en 1770 a la parroquia de Ahuachapán y su población estaba representada por 303 familias con 784 personas indígenas que hablaban el náhuatl de los pipiles, a su vez estas personas hablaban y comprendía también el castellano.
En el periodo colonial Atacó perteneció a la administración de la provincia de Izalco o alcaldía mayor de Sonsonate.Tiene una población de 12 531 habitantes (estimado 2013). El municipio para su administración se divide en 11 cantones, los cuales son: El Arco, El Limo, El Naranjito, El Tronconal, La Ceiba, La Joya de los Apantes, Los Tablones, San José, Shucutitán y Texusín Chirizo.
Sus fiestas patronales se celebran del 11 al 14 de diciembre en honor a su patrona, la Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción.

We continue our journey along the Ruta de las Flores here in El Salvador. We visit the picturesque towns of Juayua and Apeneca as we continue exploring El Salvador.
The Ruta de las Flores is a picturesque route, about 20 miles long, in the coffee growing region of El Salvador. The route takes you though lovely villages and is a must if you come to El Salvador.
We arrive in the village of Juayua at there are events put on for fathers day and the village is very lively with music, dancing and lots of great food on offer.
We have lunch in the village of Apeneca and sample some more local dishes.
Our day ends with a visit to the best coffee shop and restaurant called Entre Nubes Cafe. If you do travel along the Ruta de las Flores then your visit won't be complete without stopping at the Entre Nubes cafe. They produce their own coffee and wow how good did that coffee taste. They also have an amazing restaurant and gardens where there are flowers all year round.

Entonces, te contamos que nuestra historia ya comenzó con gatos y en tierra neutral. Nos conocimos en EE.UU. y en aquel entonces, Eva ya tenía a Nino y a Nuix, dos gatos gringos que había adoptado en Alabama. A pesar de que Carlos tenía alergia a los gatos, el amor triunfó y ¡¡nos casamos en Las Vegas!! Después, nos fuimos a vivir a tierras catalanas donde adoptamos al tercer tripulante de cuatro patas: Cachito. Y finalmente, nos mudamos los cinco a vivir al Caribe mexicano. ¿No te has mareado todavía? Pues seguimos...
En tierras caribeñas empezamos a pensar en cómo viajar con los gatos ¡y se nos ocurrió la idea de viajar en kombi! Así que realmente, compramos la Kukis para los gatos, y la encontramos en Guadalajara, México.
Sin realmente saber si el experimento iba a funcionar, dejamos atrás nuestra vida en México, dejamos nuestros trabajos, regalamos nuestras pertenencias y el 31 de diciembre de 2014, pusimos rumbo al sur con la intención de empezar a cruzar fronteras y conocer tantos países latinoamericanos como fuera posible.
Ahora ya llevamos más de 5 años de viaje y 18 países recorridos... ¡y seguimos! Nuestra aventura se ha convertido en una colección de momentos inolvidables con gente especial que ya forma parte de nuestra vida: nuevos amigos que hemos conocido en la ruta, extraños que nos han ayudado sin esperar nada a cambio y quienes nos acompañan virtualmente de manera incondicional a través de Instagram, Facebook y YouTube.

El Salvador might be the smallest country in Central America, but it more than makes up for its size with its intensely warm hospitality... and pupusas (the national dish! FYI they're not pupas as I spelt in the subtitles ????). I spent 8 days here in October 2017, piping on beaches, volcanoes and even in El Salvador's Town of Witchcraft & Wizardry!
