Visit to an uninhabited island | Maldives Vlog Day 3 | Travel Vlog

x

I Spent 24H on an Uninhabited Island (Rat-Infested)

In April, I got a chance to go on a trip to the uninhabited island of Darsa as part of my stay in Socotra. We had heard all sorts of myths and legends about this place: the most prominent being that it’s got a sizeable population of rats. We packed light because we treated the trip as a short, initial reconnaissance of the island, to evaluate potential tourism options here in the future! Between friends - it was far from what you'd get on a properly organised, commercial experience ????

I’d like to thank my friends Abdullah, Nicola ( and Nicolo ( who organise proper tours of this gorgeous island with their locally-run experiences.

This video is being published with a delay of over 2 months - things have been busy ;)

Exploring an Uninhabited Island in Tokyo | Sarushima Island Travel Vlog

In today's video, we explore the only natural island inside Tokyo Bay. Sarushima (aka Monkey Island), has no monkeys but is nevertheless a natural paradise without human influence. This Japanese island has a rich history as a military defense base since before Meiji-era times. Remains of this can still be seen on the island with many red brick walls and tunnels left over.

In Summer, Sarushima becomes a popular day trip spot for people looking to swim and BBQ near Tokyo. It can be reached with a short, 10 minute ferry ride from Yokosuka bay. Follow along as we explore this beautiful natural island!

Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here:

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ????????????

✈️ Check out the travel app we created that helps you find incredibly cheap flights to the amazing destinations all over the world! Try it risk free ➡️ ⬅️
The Island of Saba in the Caribbean is so unique that when we heard about it, we just had to go see it for ourselves! It is home to the shortest commercial runway in the world (400 meters), and has the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. We were only here for 24 hours, but we made the most of it and hiked to the very top to be the highest people in all of the Netherlands and see spectacular views of the island!

DIVING WITH HAMMERHEAD SHARKS | Flamingos, Tortuga Bay | Galapagos Vlog Day 1-3

Did you know that you can experience the birthplace of evolution for your self? Join us in this 4 part video series of our adventure on the GALAPAGOS ISLANDS.
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:

In this video, we're going on a tour to NORTH SEYMOUR ISLAND, an uninhabited island just above the main island of Santa Cruz. This island is home to many endemic species such as the LAND IGUANA and the BLUE FOOTED BOOBY. The tour includes snorkeling as well as a side trip to BACHA BEACH with its turquoise blue waters. We even managed to spot some pink flamingos enjoying their meal in the lagoon.

We also explore TORTUGA BAY, which is within walking distance of the main town of Puerto Ayora. There are tours that take you over by speedboat, but the walk along the nicely paved path is tranquil and scenic, and you may also spot some of the countless lava lizards that make this area their home. At Tortuga Bay, you can spot even more resident wildlife like sleeping sealions, marine iguanas returning from their underwater feeding adventures, as well as many many turtles being battered by the waves. We even got a chance to see some blue footed boobies nesting on the rocks.

The next day, we head to GORDON ROCKS for some diving - and it did not fail to disappoint. Even though we are visiting Galapagos in the off-season, we still managed to dive with over 100 HAMMERHEAD SHARKS; a first for us and something that had been on our bucket list for many years. Luckily for us, hammerhead sharks are quite shy and almost never attack humans unless provoked.

Living ALONE on Yemen's Remote Socotra Island

Socotra is hands-down one of the most epic places I've been to. On my recent trip to this Yemeni island with Welcome to Socotra, I spent an unforgettable 2 weeks camping, hiking, swimming and exploring.

In Socotra, on a remote beach, I met a modern-day Robinson Crusoe. This man lives alone, isolated from the rest of the world, and I want to tell you about his life.

Check my Instagram for daily updates on my adventures to not-so-popular tourist destinations:

And check the page of Welcome to Socotra: they organize tours to this paradise island, and I absolutely loved my tour with them:

MALDIVES UNINHABITED ISLAND EXPERIENCE | Maldives vlog | LIVING FROM THE OCEAN

In the end of March, we got a chance to go on a trip to an uninhabited island of Vavvaru with friends of ours. We had heard all sorts of legends about this place: the most prominent being that it was used as a research lab for seaweed and corals. They buildings surrounding us was broken down as the research lab closed a few years back.

We only packed a tent, rice and some fishing gear as we only caught fish for lunch and dinner. This was an extraordinary experience and we’d like to thank my friend Akan who organised this amazing trip to this gorgeous uninhabited island.
