???? Get My Top 100 Travel Pics FREE!

After making 1,100+ videos in 194 countries, this is one of my favorite videos thus far! Find out what $10 USD can get you in Venezuela!

In this epic adventure, I take you on the bustling streets of Caracas and through the beautiful beach towns of Morrocoy to see how many things I could purchase with $10 USD, which at the time I made this video, was 14.7 MILLION Venezuelan Bolivares... Right now, $10 USD is equal to 22 million Bolivares, it's absolutely crazy.

Despite Venezuela's economic crisis and massive hyperinflation, the cost of everyday items is getting more expensive, which makes it even harder for the local people to afford basic things like bread and water. It's really sad, and I hope the situation gets better because Venezuelans are some of the warmest and most hospitable people I've ever met. More to come soon from Venezuela!

Top 10 Best Travel Spots in Venezuela

Venezuela Tourism - Los Roques - English

It`s Venezuela !!! ... The Immensity Of Our Plains

It`s Venezuela !!! ... The Immensity Of Our Plains
One of the most beautiful regions in Venezuela is los llanos, those huge plains where only the horizon stops your sight. Both, the vegetation and the fauna are full of beauty. Several ecosystems will make a trip to this region an unforgettable one.
In this region there are only two very different seasons, where life changes completely: Rainy and dry season. In the first one, the woods, the rivers, the trees show all their beauty. A large part of the region is under the water. In the second one the become yellow and brown, and the dust covers most part of the plains, but that is when all the wildlife converges in the few spots where water is present. It is the season where you can see more birds and animals. The difference between the two seasons is so big, that you can't say that you know the llanos if you don't go in both periods.
Moving cattle is one of the most important duties in this region, where cattle breeding is the most important economic activity.
There are many different animal species. In the rivers and ponds you can find crocodiles and toninas (similar to dolphins), in the land deers, chiguïres (capybaras), jaguars and foxes, on the trees monkeys and birds.
Summer (dry season) is the best moment for bird and watchers, because all the animals must go to the few spots where the water is. Transportation in winter (rainy season) is also more difficult because many roads are flooded under water. However in this season is when nature is more spectacular.

Los Roques archipelago is a federal dependency of Venezuela consisting of approximately 350 islands, cays, and islets in a total area of 40.61 square kilometers. The archipelago is located 128 kilometers (80 mi) directly north of the port of La Guaira.
The islands' pristine coral reef attracts many wealthy visitors, especially from Europe, some of whom come in their own yachts and anchor in the inner, protected shallow waters. Development and tourism are controlled.
Because of the wide variety of seabirds and rich aquatic life, the Venezuelan government declared Los Roques a National Park in 1972.

Best of VENEZUELA | OASIS OVERLAND

Venezuela wasn't an easy country to travel in, but I feel incredibly lucky to have been there.

The wildlife was a big highlight (how 'bout that Ant Eater?!) as were a few amazing people who made Venezuela truly memorable.

Best of Venezuela

Destinations - Los Roques, Angel Falls and Mt Roraima.

With news stories constantly telling the world that Venezuela is a crazy country full of murders and drug gangs to say we were a bit nervous before going there would be a bit of an understatement. One fun fact we learnt was that there are 16,000 murders there per year, which is 4 times more than in Iraq, and that 90% of these remain unsolved. As a result foreign tourism to the country has dropped to zero. While we never ran into any trouble, we also never left the safety of our hotel in Caracas as everyone we ran into basically told us not to walk the streets by ourselves while we were in the cities as petty crime is rampant and tourists stand out like dog's balls.

So the moral of the story is to take a couple of precautions when travelling here, as missing out on this country on a South America trip would be a crime. It has easily been the best 3 weeks in our whole 6 month trip. We could not believe we had pristine beaches to ourselves, saw no one else at the view point for the world's highest waterfalls and shared the top of Mt Roraima with only 12 other people. All for around $60 a day.

Go to Venezuela with Osprey Expeditions, you won't regret it! You cannot pre purchase services with foreign cards so a travel agent is a necessity. Its the kind of place where you want to have back-up on the phone if anything happens (we loved this safety net when we went through 17 police & army checkpoints in one day where every officer was looking for an excuse to make us pay a fine).

It`s Venezuela!!! ... The Andes From The Summit Of The Sky

Venezuela although a Caribbean country enjoys a wide variety of climates and landscapes thanks to the presence of the Andean range. This region offers extraordinary views and picturesque spots which make it an authentic tourist pole.

When in the Andes, an excursion to any of the nearby lagoons like Mucubaji is worth considering. Most of them are remainders of ancient glaciers; here besides the scenery, the visitor may relish a peaceful relaxing atmosphere
