The Ultimate Van Build Journey:
In Season 1 of the van build, we stripped off the old DPD stickers, rust-proofed the entire van, painted it our favorite matte grey color, redesigned the cab, planned our van's design / layout, created our epic water tanks, built our custom panorama roof windows, installed new wheels, & installed an insulated floor! PHEW! Building a home is something else!
Then Season 2 of the van build rolled around, and with our workshop's renovation behind us, it got TECHNICAL! We built a 47 degree solar tilt (1kW of solar power!), made custom seat bases & installed our custom seats, we took security to the NEXT level, breaking down our 12 incredible layers of security, wired everything our tech-dependent home will need, created the BEST insulation we've ever seen in a campervan (check out our video on campervan insulation & cold camping insulation), installed our own custom security cameras, framed the ceiling, AND created our peak-a-boo curtains. WOW!! We are beyond ready to be off grid in this Ducato van home! ❤️

We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we love eBikes, campervans, & cats. In 2020 our van life lifestyle flipped upside down, & we needed to stop traveling in our camper to lockdown in eastern Czech Republic due to the pandemic. With no travel plans and some new time on our hands, we decided to sell our old van, start an electric bike business, begin a youtube channel, build our ultimate dream campervan, renovate a junkyard into a tiny house homestead, plan a container & apartment unit, and… well, some other smaller projects in-between ????.
What we thought would only be 6 months of “stillness” has become 2 years of innovation, progress, and so much fun, and most of that is thanks to YOU. Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:
2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!
2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.
2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.
2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!
What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. In diesem Video erfahrt ihr, wie ihr einsame Stellplätze fernab von Stellplatz-Apps wie Park4night findet, wie ihr dafür sorgen könnt, dass in Zukunft weniger überfüllte und mehr einsame Plätze gibt und wie ihr verhindern könnt, dass das Übernachten auf mehr und mehr Plätze verboten wird.
Generell:
1. Stellplätze nicht auf Social Media geotaggen
2. Stellplätze nicht öffentlich machen in Apps oder Gruppen, dessen Mitglieder du nicht kennst
3. Und im Gegenzug: Nicht in Gruppen fragen (Infos maximal per PM austauschen)
4. Plätze ausschließlich mit einer begrenzten Anzahl von Personen teilen, die man privat gut kennt und weiß, wie ernst sie das Thema Natur- und Umweltschutz nehmen oder sie auf die Problematik hinweisen
5. Informier dich über korrektes Camper-Verhalten, Gesetze und rechtliche Vorgaben
Hab euch ja versprochen, ich verrate, wie ich meine Lieblingsplätze gefunden habe: Einen durch absoluten Zufall. Einfach dran vorbeigefahren. Den anderen tatsächlich durch Park4night. War aber nach zahlreichen Griffen ins Klo auch der einzige.

Hintergrund: Ich habe meinen Opel Combo C zum Mini Camper Van ausgebaut. Es ist ein 1.4 l Benziner mit 90 PS von 2008. Der Ausbau hat 2-3 Wochen gedauert, die Autosuche und Planung haben 7 Monate gedauert. Es ist das erste Fahrzeug, das ich ausgebaut habe. Ich hatte wenig Vorkenntnisse und bin keine Schreinerin. In this video I will tell you how I find lonely parking spaces far away from parking space apps like Park4night, how you can ensure that there are less crowded and more lonely spaces in the future and how you can prevent that staying overnight becomes prohibited in more and more places.
As a general rule:
1. Do not geotag parking spaces on social media
2. Do not make them public in apps or groups whose members you do not know
3. And in return: Do not ask in groups (preferably exchange information by PM)
4. Only share places with a limited number of people who you know well in private and how seriously they take the topic of nature and environmental protection or point out the problems
5. Find out about correct camper behavior, laws and legal requirements
I promised you, I'll tell you how I found my favorite places: One by absolute coincidence. Just drove past it. The other actually through Park4night. But after numerous grabs in the toilet it was the only one.

I have converted my Opel Combo C to a Mini Camper Van. It is a 1.4 l petrol engine with 90 HP from 2008. The conversion took 2-3 weeks, the car search and planning took 7 months. It is the first vehicle that I have converted. I had little previous knowledge and am not a carpenter. I built the whole conversion completely alone with a jigsaw, cordless screwdriver, drill and cutter knife. It was important to me not to drill into the body and that everything could be removed.
