TABRIZ, IRAN - One of my favorite cities we visited during our trip to Iran, was Tabriz, located in Northern Iran. The food, people, culture, and ancient bazaar were all the highlights. In this video, we take you on a Iranian street food tour of the ancient bazaar of Tabriz. #Iran #Tabriz #streetfood

Bazaar of Tabriz - A UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East, it’s also one of the best preserved and most authentic. What was amazing to me is how it’s still in full functioning use, still used in much of the same exact way as its been used for hundreds of years. There are sections of the bazaar for everything - from spices and food, clothes and woodwork. But one of the most fascinating parts of the bazaar is the carpets bazaar, where you’ll find some of the best hand made Persian carpets in the world. Tabriz is known around the world for its exquisite carpet making.

Tabriz Central Mosque - Bazaar of Tabriz - In addition to the amazing Iranian food, we also visited the Tabriz Central Mosque.

Haj Ali Kebab - One of the most famous and best restaurants in Tabriz is Haj Ali Kebab, where you’ll find some of the best kebabs in Tabriz. The kebabs were so incredibly juicy, especially with Persian style butter rice, and some roasted tomatoes and sumac. It was a wonderful lunch within the ancient bazaar.

Shazdeh Restaurant - Along with plenty of street food snacks, our final Iranian food meal at the bazaar was at Shazdeh Restaurant, and one dish you can’t miss are the kufta Tabrizi, one of the ultimate dishes of Tabriz.

It was an amazing day, and a throwback in time, learning about and discovering the ancient bazaar of Tabriz, Iran!

Thank you to Ghasr Setareh ( for arranging our trip to Iran.

Unexpected! RARE Iranian Street Food Market in the GRAND BAZAAR of Tehran!!

????????KOOTOOK TRAVEL:
????????MR. TASTER:
⚽️BUY IRAN JERSEYS:

After getting my first taste of Iranian cuisine, my new friends and I headed off to explore the Grand Bazaar in Tehran, Iran! Come along with us as we check out this incredible place!

The market is huge and sells just about everything you can imagine, including clothing, kitchenware, carpets, food, and more. We found a shop that sells kitchen supplies, including wooden honey stirrers and some small kebab skewers. I bought them both for roughly $3 USD.

????SUBSCRIBE TO MY NEWSLETTER:
???? MY TRAVEL BLOG:

Mr. Taster is a local celebrity, so he gets stopped everywhere. This bazaar reminded me of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, but the colors on the ceiling were similar to the ones I saw in Uzbekistan, with the blues and yellows, and Islamic architecture and intricate designs.

We took a left and arrived in the Timcheh-e Hajeb-od-Dowleh, which is a courtyard where you’ll find lots of shops. You can bargain and negociate here!

Further on, we found copper saffron grinders, copper trays, tea cups, jars, vases, and more. I bought a saffron grinder before heading to get something to eat.

We found a vendor selling juicy and meaty dried apricot, sour and juicy yellow apricots, and delicious walnuts.

Further on, we found a jewelry market, where we found some gold and silver jewelry on our way to the restaurant. There, we’d be having a rice cake dish called tahchin.

In the kitchen, we saw them cooking lamb chops, kubideh, and lamb kebabs as well as chicken. They put a huge slab of the tahchin on top of the chicken and rice. The kebabs come out charred and crispy, and then they drench them in butter!

Next, we headed to another kitchen on the fourth floor, where they were making the tahchin. They put the rice in huge trays and drown it in a mixture of butter, egg, saffron, and yogurt. It becomes bright yellow and they flatten and press it in the pan before slicing it. Then it bakes for 20 minutes!

From there, we also saw them making kebabs and chicken before heading down to the open-air dining hall to eat. The tahchin looks like cornbread, but they top it with more rice, barberry, and pistachios. Underneath is chicken, eggplant, and rice.

You take a bit of chicken, rice, barberry, and tahchin. It was a nice mix of crispy tahchin, sweet eggplant, and juicy chicken. The tahchin was also moist and fluffy! The roasted eggplant was incredible, but the serving was so huge and filling!

Next, we jumped on Iran’s most famous stew, ghormeh sabzi, which contains red beans, lime, and lemon. It looked so dark, thick, and rich. You can have it with yogurt or onion. We poured it over the tahchin!

I loved the rich flavors of the lamb, green onion, lime, parsley, fenugreek, and kidney beans. Iran is the land of stews, and this one was unreal! I could have eaten it by itself!

Next were a lamb shank and bogali polow. The bogali polow contained saffron and dill. You break up the lamb shank and mix it with the pulao. It’s so fatty and unreal. The herbal flavor of the pulao blew my mind!

We finished with sholeh zard, a pudding made from rice, saffron, cinnamon, rose, and pistachios. It was spectacular and moist, but I was about to pop! Then, we headed to Taj Ali Darvish Tea House, the smallest teahouse in the world. It really is tiny and has been in business since 1918!

The owner gave me a special coin and served us a mint lemon saffron tea and Persian tea with rock candy and sugar cubes. You put the sugar cube in your mouth and sip the tea. The sugar dissolves and makes it super sweet. I loved the tea! What a tour!

Where have you been?

Azadegan Tea House - Chah Haj Mirza - We began in the evening in Isfahan by going to a legendary tea house, and probably one of the world’s most decorated tea houses. It’s fascinating to walk around, look at all the antiques and memorabilia. The food, is also noteworthy and delicious. We had the Kashke Bademjan - Persian eggplant dip, and Dizi - Lamb and chickpeas stew.

Khoresht Mast - Yogurt, lamb, saffron - This was the most shocking Iranian food in Isfahan - lamb and sweet yogurt? Yes, in Isfahan, people are passionate about a dessert made with lamb! And somehow it just works.

Naqsh-e Jahan Square - Isfahan, Iran - When you visit Isfahan, to get a true feel of the center of the city, you have to visit Naqsh-e Jahan Square, a massive public square with a number of important historical mosques and monuments. It’s spectacular.

Haj Mahmoud Beryani - Restaurant, Isfahan Bazaar - This was one of my favorite meals in all of Iran, for a dish called beryan - Minced lamb, mint, saffron. For lamb lovers, it does not get better than this.

Huge thank you to Nia & Sahra, who are both originally from Iran, now living in LA for joining me on this epic day of Iranian food. Follow their food adventures here:

Here are the places we ate at in this LA food tour:

Attari Sandwich Shop ( - We started off this Persian food tour in Tehrangeles, one of the first Iranian communities in LA. One of the most legendary restaurants is Attari Sandwich Shop, where along with many dishes, they are famous for their lamb tongue and brain sandwich. It’s so good!

Saffron & Rose Ice Cream ( - Across the street you’ll find Saffron & Rose Ice Cream for fantastic Persian ice cream and Shirazi style falooda.

Raffi's Place ( - If there’s one Persian restaurant in LA, or in all of the United States that you must try, it has to be Raffi's Place. We had the honor to meet Mr. and Mrs. Raffi, they showed us around their amazing restaurants and we ate lunch with them. They have a hugely inspirational story of how Raffi's Place became one of the greatest Persian restaurants in LA, and the food is outstanding. Don’t miss all the different kebabs and varieties of rice.

Nersses Vanak Restaurant ( - Finally to complete this ultimate day of Iranian food in Los Angeles, we went to Nersses Vanak Restaurant, a relaxed, and again family run Iranian restaurant. Along with a full menu of kebabs and stews, one of the main dishes to eat is their legendary dizi - a stew of lamb, beans, and potatoes, cooked down until fall apart tender - it’s a favorite dish of Iran for me. Their lamb shank is also pilgrimage worthy.

And that completes an amazing day of eating some of the best Iranian food in Los Angeles - in the United States!

????T-shirts and caps:

BONAB, IRAN - Ask around in Iran where the best kebabs are, and a likely response you’ll get quite quickly is Bonab. Bonab is a city known throughout Iran for their kebabs. Located in Northern Iran, there was no way we were going to miss an opportunity of a lifetime to eat Bonab kebabs from their source. #Iran #IranianFood #kebabs #streetfood

It was about a 2 hour drive from Tabriz, but it was well worth it. We jumped out of the van, and entered the Bonab market. Eventually we came to the meat section of the market. What’s unique about the Bonad meat market is that you can buy fresh meat, and then bring it to one of the kebab restaurants within the market, and they will immediately on spot make for you fresh kebabs. And in a country that lives of kebabs, Bonab kebabs are special. It’s one of the only places in Iran, where they hand chop your meat using swords, mix it with onions and seasonings, form the kebabs, and grill them, all in one little closet sized Iranian street food restaurant. What truly makes a difference is the hand sword chopped mince of the meat so its not too fine, but remains steaky.

The kebabs were grilled fresh and hot and served dripping in their own fatty juices, and served with roasted tomatoes and chilies. The combination was heavenly, some of the best and most pure kebabs I’ve tasted anywhere in the world. The freshness speaks for itself, and again, the hand ground chopped texture makes all the difference.

Bonab, Iran, truly is the King of kebabs in Iran!

Ultimate PERSIAN FOOD TOUR!! Endless IRANIAN FOOD in Tehran, Iran!!

????????KOOTOOK TRAVEL:
????????MR. TASTER:
⚽️BUY IRAN JERSEYS:

My time in Tehran, Iran continued with an all-out food tour of the capital. Join me as I go on the ultimate Persian food tour of Tehran, Iran!

My buddy Mr. Taster was taking me on an incredible lunch tour with our friends from Kootook Travel. We’d be having lamb shanks, shish kebabs, and so much more! I couldn’t wait!

????SUBSCRIBE TO MY NEWSLETTER:
???? MY TRAVEL BLOG:

Inside our first restaurant, it was like a fancy banquet hall. They say they have the best lamb shank around! Then, as is traditional, they brought us some Iranian tea and sweets!

In the kitchen, we watch ed them grill the lamb shanks, lamb chops, and loghmeh, a type of traditional Iranian kebab made from lamb. It’s bigger than kubideh! They were also grilling tomatoes. The meat looked so juicy!

The lamb shanks were cooking in their own fat, and looked unreal! Upstairs, they have a luxurious dining hall with opulent walls, tables, and chairs, but we’d be eating downstairs with everyone else!

We had everything with rice with barberries and saffron. Mr. Taster broke open an egg and poured out the egg whites. Then, he poured the yolk in started with the rice!

The rice was unbelievable, while the lamb chops blew my mind. The combination of the two was unreal! I loved the way the egg glued the rice together, and the rice was so tender and juicy.

With the rice, the loghmeh was also incredible. The tahchin had a crispy layer on top, and the saffron flavor was excellent! The lamb shank was huge and so juicy and fatty, it literally melted as I chewed it!

It also had a sweetness to it, and the marrow inside the bone was so tasty. The combination of meat, rice, and caramelized onions was a winner!

Then, we left and drove 20 minutes to our second restaurant, which almost reminded me of a Greek tavern. It had lots of beautiful painting on the walls. We watched them cook a stew called dizi with tomatoes, lamb, chickpeas, and bean in tiny pots. It slow cooks for 4 hours!

Our Shirazi salad contained tomatoes, cucumber, onions, and mint. Then, they brought the dizi. They take the lamb fat into your bowl and mash it.

Then, they mash the beans, chickpeas, meat, and potatoes into a puree. I tried mixing it myself with the pestle. It smelled amazing! Then, you crumble your sangak bread into it and add the broth!

We also had greens, onions, pickled onions, pickled chilies, and more to eat with it. I loved the fatty dizi with the greens and sangak bread. Adding pickled chilies made it spicy but gave it an amazing flavor. I also liked it with pickled onion, which was potent!

Next, I tried a yogurt drink called doogh, which was sour and a bit thin. Next, I ate the mash with the sangak. They sprinkled cinnamon on top, which was amazing!

We followed it with Persian tea and bamieh, a traditional sweet that’s basically a small, crispy ball of dough soaked in sugar syrup.

Our final stop was Sahand Restaurant, where we watched them make kebabs and chicken marinated in saffron. The kebabs were made of chopped beef topped with a layer of minced lamb, put in the cage, topped with onion juice, and grilled.

They also made a koobideh polow, a dish made of rice, chunks of koobideh, grilled tomatoes, sumac, and butter all mixed together. Once everything is added to the pan, you cover it and shake it up to mix it! The also added chilies and then made a cherry polow with lamb neck!

The cherry polow was juicy and tart, and I loved the meatiness. Next was the koobideh polow, which was the tastiest, meatiest polow ever! It was also super moist from the butter and tomatoes!

Finally, we finished with the kebab and some butter rice, tomato, and chili! I loved the smokiness, the butteriness. It was astounding!

Following our tour of Iran, Mark Wiens and I arrived in the historic city of Tabriz in northwestern Iran. A city with unique food, kind and hospitable people ‌and an old and very spectacular traditional bazaar. Tabriz's Bazaar is a UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the oldest bazaars in middle eastern that is still open in its olden way and it was very interesting to Mark Wiens. One of the most attractive sections of the bazaar was the carpet market, which has many of the best Iranian handmade carpets in the world there. For breakfast, we went to a shop that made a food called Jiz Biz, which was famous in Tabriz. Jiz Biz is a mixture of liver, lungs and mutton hearts and offal, which is fried together and is very tasty. You can find many street snacks in Tabriz, such as another dish called Yeralma Yumurta, which is made with potatoes, butter and eggs and tastes great.

TABRIZ WALK TOUR ???????? Jomhouri-e Eslami STREET | 4K 60FPS UHD | IRAN 2021

Hi everyone today we walk in Jomhouri-e Eslami street in Tabriz

Tabriz is the most populous city in northwestern Iran, one of the historical capitals of Iran and the present capital of East Azerbaijan Province. It is the fifth-most-populous city in Iran. In the Quru River valley in Iran's historic Azerbaijan region[3] between long ridges of volcanic cones in the Sahand and Eynali mountains, Tabriz's elevation ranges between 1,350 and 1,600 metres (4,430 and 5,250 ft) above sea level. The valley opens up into a plain that gently slopes down to the eastern shores of Lake Urmia, 60 kilometres (37 miles) to the west. With cold winters and temperate summers, Tabriz is considered a summer resort. It was named World Carpet Weaving City by the World Crafts Council in October 2015 and Exemplary Tourist City of 2018 by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

With a population of over 1.7 million (2016), Tabriz is the largest economic hub and metropolitan area in Northwest Iran. The population is overwhelmingly Azerbaijani, though Persian is spoken by residents as a second language.[8] Tabriz is a major heavy industries hub for automobiles, machine tools, refineries, petrochemicals, textiles and cement production industries. The city is famous for its handicrafts, including hand-woven rugs and jewellery. Local confectionery, chocolate, dried nuts and traditional Tabrizi food are recognised throughout Iran as some of the best. Tabriz is also an academic hub and a site for some of the most prestigious cultural institutes in Northwest Iran.

Tabriz contains many historical monuments, representing Iran's architectural transition throughout its deep history. Most of Tabriz's preserved historical sites belong to Ilkhanid, Safavid and Qajar. Among these sites is the grand Bazaar of Tabriz, which is designated a World Heritage Site. From the early modern era, Tabriz was pivotal in the development, movement and economy of its three neighboring regions; namely the Caucasus, Eastern Anatolia and Central Iran. In modern era city played a vital role in the history of Iran. As the country's closest hub to Europe, many aspects of early modernisation in Iran began in Tabriz. Prior to forced ceding of the Qajar dynasty's Caucasian territories to Imperial Russia, following two Russo-Persian Wars in the first half of the 19th century, Tabriz was at the forefront of Iranian rule over its Caucasian territories. Until 1925, the city was the traditional residence of the Qajar crown princes.
