In today's video I'll be sharing how COVID-19 is impacting whether or not I will travel to Vietnam. I'll cover what concerns I have with travel to South East Asia and specific precautions I am taking to minimize risk. There is a lot of misinformation spreading with this novel coronavirus originating in Wuhan, China. Today we are in Lima, Peru during the Covid-19 pandemic and border closures. We have been stuck in Peru due to the lockdowns and borders being closed for many months, and we are in Lima to finally catch a repatriation flight back to the USA. Covid 19 has taken a strong hold of Peru and South America, and there are no signs of borders opening any time soon, so we had to leave. Today we explore a covid 19 sticken Lima, where plazas and restaurants are closed. Lima is much different from the way we saw it 6 months ago. We eat some Lima food, walk around, and have a hard time doing or seeing things due to the Coronavirus pandemic and closures of stores, streets, restaurants, and tourist attractions. As someone who ALSO had to urgently book a ticket back to the US in March 2020 in order to get home to the US from abroad, I found today's interview entirely too relatable! THE SAGA!!!!!
In this video, I had the pleasure of interviewing my friend Clarisa roughly a week after she returned back to Chicago after moving to Buenos Aires in February 2020 as a corporate expat.
It was fascinating to hear from her about how she witnessed Argentina handling the COVID-19 outbreak in a very different way than the US and Europe. From my perspective, it sounded like Argentina's approach to the pandemic could be described both as more cautious AND as more systematic. Fascinating!
I'm hopeful that their cautious approach truly helped saved Argentinian lives.
