Like EVERYONE on the streets of Juba (South Sudan's capital) is well over 6 feet tall, and many over 7 feet - even the females! It's one of the most unbelievable features of mankind that I've ever seen anywhere on this planet.

If you enjoyed this story, please share it with your friends! South Sudan can benefit from any positive attention as it's gone through rough times like civil war and political unrest.

What Can $10 Get in LAGOS, NIGERIA? (Craziest City)

HELLO FROM LAGOS, NIGERIA -- COUNTRY #175!! ???????? I truly had a lot of fun making this video inside Africa's craziest and most populated city. Did you know that over 20 million people are living in Lagos?! It is hands down one of the most hectic, chaotic, and vibrant places I've ever been with a LOT of stories to tell. I'm overwhelmed.

My local friend and YouTuber named Tayo (his channel linked below) has been taking me all around his bustling city of Lagos and we've had an absolute blast together. Surprisingly, this was one of the hardest videos I've ever made because it's REALLY challenging to shoot content on these streets. People don't like being on camera here and they make a huge commotion in the streets and ask for money (etc) whenever they see it from a distance.

In any regard, I hope you enjoy this episode of my $10 series and get a glimpse into local Nigerian culture. More to come tomorrow! Nigeria is awesome!

I have made it safely to Africa's smallest country on the mainland! It's called THE GAMBIA -- have you ever heard of it before?

This nation is completely surrounded by Senegal and the Atlantic Ocean on all sides, and it's appropriately nicknamed The Smiling Coast of Africa. Seriously, people smile at you from every angle here!

We've spent the past 2.5 days here and it's been a very interesting experience to say the least. I love the people and the nature -- they are both world class. But something doesn't feel right to me about the society, which I explain in this video.

This West Africa road trip is getting crazier and crazier by the day! Follow along on IG Stories for live updates in real time!

Senegal: Where Vibrant Culture Meets Rich History

Introduction:

Senegal, located on the west coast of Africa, is a nation of diversity, from its rich history to its vibrant culture and warm-hearted people. In this article, we will explore what makes Senegal so special, from its historical significance to the unique lifestyle of its people.

A Historical Tapestry:

Goree Island: Senegal is known for Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site that was once a center for the transatlantic slave trade. Its House of Slaves museum stands as a powerful reminder of this dark period in history.

Colonial Legacy: Senegal was once part of French West Africa and gained independence in 1960. The influence of French colonialism is still evident in the country's official language and cultural aspects.

Lebou Culture: The Lebou people, who live in the capital, Dakar, have a unique culture rooted in fishing. Their annual festival, the Grand Magal of Touba, is a significant religious and cultural event in Senegal.

Warm and Welcoming People:

Teranga: The Senegalese are known for their warm hospitality, often referred to as Teranga. Visitors to Senegal are greeted with open arms and a strong sense of community.

Family-Centric: Family is at the heart of Senegalese society. Extended families often live together and play a crucial role in social support systems.

Music and Dance: Music is a fundamental part of Senegalese life. The country's music scene includes genres like Mbalax and Sabar, and the vibrant rhythms are an integral part of celebrations and daily life.

Lifestyle and Traditions:

Traditional Dress: Senegalese people take pride in their traditional clothing. Colorful boubous, kaftans, and headwraps are commonly worn, reflecting the nation's vibrancy.

Religion: Islam is the predominant religion in Senegal, and Sufi brotherhoods play a significant role in the spiritual and social life of the country.

Cuisine: Senegalese cuisine is a delightful fusion of flavors. Dishes like thieboudienne (a flavorful fish and rice dish) and yassa (chicken or fish in a zesty onion sauce) are staples. Street food, like grilled fish and maafe (peanut stew), is a must-try.

Vibrant Festivals:

Tabaski: Also known as Eid al-Adha, this Muslim festival involves the sacrifice of livestock, and the meat is shared with family and those in need.

Independence Day: Senegal celebrates its independence on April 4th with parades, cultural events, and a festive atmosphere.

Modern Senegal:

Economic Growth: Senegal's economy is growing, with a focus on industries like agriculture, tourism, and energy. The nation is becoming an economic hub in the region.

Education: The government places a strong emphasis on education, and Senegal has several universities and schools. Education is seen as a means of achieving success and improving one's life.

Conclusion:

Senegal is a land of striking contrasts, where history is woven into daily life, vibrant traditions thrive, and the warmth of its people makes visitors feel at home. From the echoes of its colonial past to the rhythms of its music and the flavors of its cuisine, Senegal is a nation that captivates the heart and soul. Its journey from a history of adversity to a promising future reflects the resilience of its people and the richness of its culture. It's a place where the past meets the present with a welcoming smile, inviting travelers to explore and embrace its unique way of life.
