We’re traveling through China in search of the BEST Chinese street food and found ourselves in Neijiang, Sichuan, eating and trying delicious street food. In this Chinese Street Food Breakfast Tour VLOG, we travel from Chengdu to visit Neijiang, all in search of the best street food around the world. We wake up bright and early to eat at a local noodle street food breakfast stall and tasted some of the most flavourful and SPICY noodles ever. We then continue to a street food market and find some amazing Sichuan street foods, they were all incredibly delicious, except the last street food. You probably won’t want to try that last street food!

If you’re visiting China as a tourist, we discovered that you really need to get outside of Chengdu or Chongqing and visit some smaller Chinese cities to try their street food and their breakfast street foods. If you come to DEEP back street food markets like this, you can find tons of stuff to eat and take photos of as well. Most of the locals are so friendly!
Chinese street food is so diverse and there are hundreds of street foods to try, so we are on a mission to taste all of them in our Street food tour series as we travel throughout China and the world in search of the best street food around the world.

Eating local street food and street meals in China is always a bit risky. If you find a good place thats dirty and hygienic at the same time, you've struck gold. This place was just that, dirty on the outside, but woks frying so hot that you're guaranteed an awesome meal.

We ordered all the classic Sichuan food's, Mapo tofu, La zi ji (deep fried chicken with deep fried red and green chilies), A super delicious Sichuan broadbean paste river carp (WOW!), Zhe er gen (it's a root eaten here that actually tastes a bit fishy and spicy at the same time, not bad if you like strange and strong flavours), pigs foot, fried eggs and tomatoes, and century eggs in a chili oil.
This restaurant was found near 一环路南一段， give that address to a taxi driver and you will find it!
After this amazing meal, we went for a dessert of lamb steaks, super juicy and a strong cumin flavour, just amazing! I fell in love at the first bite, really!

Three Tasty Guangzhou Food Joints - MUST EATS IN GUANGZHOU
Guangzhou food is some of the best in China. I am having a food day in the city - trying the best food in Guangzhou. I had a plan to go to a few places, but the smells and scenes from other restaurants drew me in. I ended up making a few pit stops, taking a few foodie detours.
First up, I try an amazing fish ball noodle soup. I love fish based broth in Asia. It has a ton of flavor, but it's less salty than chicken or beef broth. Fish balls are somewhat unique to Asia. For westerners, they might seem a bit strange, but they're absolutely delicious, and this soup had 2 different kinds in it. It also had both noodles and wontons. The thin hokkien style noodles were cooked to perfection with a little bit of bite left in them. The wontons were a mix of pork and shrimp. A combo that I have a deep love for.
The next place I went to was also unplanned. I knew I needed to get some char siu, some roasted pork, but I had planned to go to a different place. I'm glad I ended up at this back alley random spot. Their char siu was very lean but tender and flavorful. The meat is covered in a sauce that's made up of honey and Chinese 5 spice. Don't leave Guangzhou without trying some of that delicious looking meat hanging in the windows.
Finally, I stopped at a restaurant that is pretty famous in Guangzhou. They're noodles are some of the best in the city, but their real specialty is deep-fried wontons. The crispy cracker-like wrapper is crunchy but almost fluffy. Dip them in the sweet chili sauce and change your life forever as you put this amazing treat in your mouth.

????ROASTED DUCK: Clean and wash the duck. Mix the duck with soy sauce, wood ear mushrooms, dried needle mushrooms and pepper buds. Tie with a string. Boil the duck and dip in cashew oil and honey liquid. Rub salt on the duck’s neck and insert oxygen inside the duck. Hang on the rack, dry and refrigerate for two hours. Place in a roasting machine for 40 minutes.
Torch the duck. Plating: Pour the juices out of the duck. Use it as the dipping sauce later. Chop the duck into small pieces and serve with banh mi or fried buns.

????DUCK SKIN ROLLS: Cut the duck skin in square shaped pieces. Roll it in the mung bean rice paper with cucumber and leaks. Serve with hoisin sauce.
????TOSSED DUCK BONES WITH HOMEMADE SALT: Chop the duck into small pieces. Flesh out the duck meat. Boil the duck bones. Cover with frying flour and deep fry. Stir-fry with garlic, pepper, scallion and butter. Add homemade salt on top and it's ready to serve.
????STIR-FRIED FLAT NOODLES WITH DUCK MEAT: Deep fry the duck meat and then stir-fry them with flat rice noodles, bean sprouse, dark soy sauce, chives, MSG and other seasoning. Top up with sesame seeds and serve.

Then to really find delicious street food, you need to go downstream a few kilometers to the biggest main town called Chiang Saen (เชียงแสน). I really loved this town, so peaceful and quiet, and right along the banks of the Mekong River. There happens to be an amazing Chinese food restaurant, and some fantastic street food in the evening along the river.
Kiao Siang Hai Restaurant (ร้านอาหารเกี้ยวเซี่ยงไฮ้) - When you’re in Chiang Saen at the Golden Triangle, this restaurant is a must. They serve properly good and comforting Chinese food, with a mix, but mainly Sichuan style Chinese food. I read in Lonely Planet, that this restaurant is very popular especially with Chinese boat crews who are sailing down the Mekong River (though not at the time of filming this video as the border of Thailand were still closed). Food was outstanding, and I especially loved the deep fried chili chicken.
Total price - 1,230 THB ($41.14) for everything
Mekong dinner street food - After a fantastic afternoon in Chiang Saen, visiting some of the historical monuments, we then headed back to the Mekong Riverside for dinner. In the evening you’ll find a bunch of street food stall, that all pretty much have the same menu of pounded salads, freshwater shrimp, Mekong River fish, and the highlight - snake head fish roasted in bamboo. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere was so perfect on the Mekong River. An amazing meal and time to relax.
Total price - 540 THB ($18.06)
The Golden Triangle is a very unique area to visit in Thailand, with so much history to learn about. I would recommend staying and eating through Chiang Saen when you’re in the area.

Number 5:
On the paper fish - 纸上烤鱼 Zhi shang kaoyu
This is a grilled fish on the paper, so that there is no charring of any ingredients and all the flavours of the spicy and garlicky broth are soaked into the fish. You also order additional ingredients, like eggs, lotus root, tofu, potato, cilantro, and greens. I ate this one in Chengdu. It's a great Chengdu food to try.
Number 4 - Leshan duck - 甜皮鸭 Tian pi ya
This is the famous Leshan sweet skinned duck. It's stewed in ginger, onions, sugar, salt, star anise, Sichuan peppercorn, cinnamon, fennel, cloves, and cardamom. It's super easy and this is one of my favourite ducks in all of China.
Number 3 - Firewood Chicken - 柴火鸡 Chaihuoji
This was truly a magical experience. A whole chicken is chopped up and put into a wok heated by wood fire. It's boiled in a wok full of Sichuan broad bean paste and dried chilies, making it super spicy, juicy, and salty. The wok is full of other vegetable ingredients that you personally order. I ordered potatoes to keep it classic. The best part of the whole meal is when they take a dough and place it on the side of the wok and put the lid over it, making these gooey and sticky and crispy on the outside. So satisfying. Another great Sichuan food to try in Chengdu.
Number 2 -Xinjiang food
Xinjiang food is a huge culinary world that I can't say I've fully sampled. But what I did try in Urumqi was amazing. I had a meal at a traditional Xinjiang restaurant that was 3 main Xinjiang foods: Pumpkin and Lamb steamed buns, Xinjiang Lamb Kebabs, and A lamb and onion and black pepper rounang stuffed bread.
Number 1 - Tibetan food- Xizang cai
I tried this food at the four girls mountain range in Western Sichuan. This meal was so so satisfying and really rich and heavy. It consisted of spicy yak meat, fresh local potatoes, fresh local first growth forest hand picked greens fried up in a wok with yak butter, fresh tibetan butter tea, and blood sausage. Yet the best part of this meal was eating with the local people of the area. They were so welcoming and friendly and it really felt like a once in a lifetime experience to just sit down and chat with them in their little living room heated by a wood stove in the coldest part of the winter. What a try experience!
