World's Most Dangerous Roads - Tajikistan - Ice Death

A mythical road built by the Soviets to open up the Pamir region and subject it to the rule of the Empire. A daring journey suspended between earth and sky on what the Tajiks call the “roof of the world”. But since the Russians left in 1991, the road has not been maintained. The Pamir Highway is the route of all dangers: Rock falls, landslides, fords ... 900 kilometers on the side of the ravine.

World's Most Dangerous Roads - Guinea: Forgotten territories

The film reveals hallucinating realities: the hospital in a town of 200,000 inhabitants, Kissidougou, operates without electricity and the nurse on duty is content with the wreckage of an ambulance to go and save a pregnant woman in difficulty at 75 kilometers away. Poverty pushes families to put their children to work from the age of 6. In a roadside carpentry shop, no less than 102 children are found working and sleeping on the floor in what looks a lot like dormitories in a labor camp. According to Unicef, 25% of young Guineans take the road to work every morning rather than the often inaccessible school! In Guinea Conakry, the forest occupies more than a quarter of the surface of the country and beyond a national pierced with holes the inhabitants abandoned by the state had to create themselves bamboo ladders on cliffs to go from villages to villages. They borrow them at the risk of their lives ...

World's Most Dangerous Roads: Philippines

The headhunters road Kalinga in filipino is aptly named even if the region's heads haven't been rolling for a long time. It said the spirits of the mountains still have a taste for them when it comes to cutting the road.
Christopher and his men face the same struggle against the mountain every day. Their job is to remove the thousands of cubic meters of rocks blocking the road in record time.
Further down the valley lies the town of Bontoc. It is neither Airport nor railway station, so the road is vital for its 15,000 inhabitants. If the Kalinga is blocked, the entire region is paralyzed and even the bone snake charms are powerless.
Bus 532 with 20 years of service is about to leave for one of the most dangerous roads in the Philippines: the Kalinga on the island of Luzon. It relays Bontoc to the regional capital of Tabuk to the north through the Cordillera mountains. A Tough road under construction for nearly a century, but which still resembles a track. It takes almost a day if all goes well to travel.

World's Most Dangerous Roads - Siberia

Every spring the freezing mist of lake Baikal signals the start of a dangerous voyage for the men of this village. A journey to the high plateau of Siberia to resupply Ren-deer hunters.
Dimitri is the only driver brave enough to take on this deadly journey he has to deliver 600 kilograms of food as quickly as possible. The winter has been so hard for the shepherds has being without fresh supplies for six months.
In a few days the melting snows will turn the road into an icy swamp. It's only 40 miles to the shepherd's camp but it's 40 miles that could take several weeks to cover. Ahead of them lies the deceptive white hell of Siberia.

Deadliest Journeys - Tajikistan - Cold Fever

Tajikistan is the poorest country in Central Asia. To travel through this region made up of 93% of mountains, you have to take the Pamir Highway, the second highest highway in the world. Mechanics and people are put to the test, especially in winter when extreme temperatures freeze the engines. Gheyrat, the hero of this adventure, must improvise with the means at hand to deliver his goods and above all stay alive.

Driving Ruta 3N with vertigo-inducing depths of up to 1.000m
Located in the region Ancash of Peru, the defiant Carretera 3-N is one of the most dangerous roads in the world, with vertigo-inducing depths of up to 1.000m. Tucked away on the northern part of the country, the road is mostly unpaved. The most challenging part of the drive is 22.0km (13.67 miles) long, running from Cañon del Pato to La Pampa, a small town. The road goes narrower every time, with a succession of turns and hairpins. These were handcut out of the mountain and some of them were very narrow, needing a steady hand on the wheel to negotiate. The road is extremely narrow, not made for 2 cars or vans to pass at the same time. There are many trucks on the way. During the rainy and snowy period the road may be closed. It’s really a bad dirt road, with some washboard and lots of rocks.

Deadliest Journeys - Guinea: The Land Of The Forgotten

In a thrilling race on gruesome roads, desperate bush Taxi drivers scramble to deliver drugs and vaccines in less than 24 hours. At the other end of the trail sick people and children on borrowed time are waiting. But will they be able to afford the medicine that will save them? A surreal trip to Guinea Conakry, where there are still many serious diseases, such as polio, diphtheria and rabies. A country in full decay where the rutted roads tire the drivers nervously and where the delays they take paralyze the economy of the country ... Located in the west of Africa and in the south of Senegal, Guinea Conakry is nevertheless a country rich. Its subsoil is full of minerals like gold and diamonds, but people never see their color. Deadliest Journeys - Cameroon, Birds and Lizards

In Cameroon, only 2% of the roads have been asphalted. All of the country's inhabitants rely on the Clandos' taxi services, they have no other choice. The country has no railway and taking airplanes is both too expensive and too dangerous.

00:00 Cameroon's bravest drivers are known as Clandos. They're illegal cabs, and they're the only ones allowed to drive on Cameroon's entire road network, one of the worst on the African continent.

06:20 Thanks to this, they have a stranglehold on transport in Cameroon, despite the government's best efforts.
00:20 Some routes cross the territory of the Pygmies, a people of Central Africa.
17:30 When goods transports have accidents, villagers loot the cargo
19:18 The loaders in the basalt mines work until they're exhausted, and even the children there have to work in the quarries to go to school.
23:49 With the limited means available, the Clandos are forced to drive with cars fit for the scrap heap.
29:59 Overloaded vans are also subject to road problems.
35:35 Mireille works for an NGO trying to preserve the Pygmé people who live close to nature in the equatorial forests.
41:33 Some mountain towns are inaccessible during the rainy season.
49:02 Even the region's capital has become a ghost town as the population flees.

The Most Dangerous Road in America - The Million Dollar Highway

The Million Dollar Highway is a spur of U.S. Highway 50, Also known as U.S. 550. The stretch from Silverton to Ouray is frequently called the Million Dollar Highway, but it goes by other names; such as the “Scenic Byway”. If you are being dramatic it’s referred to as the “Highway to Hell”.

The road has made its way to several large publications and most dangerous lists. Popular Mechanics ranked it Number 3 of 10of the “Most Dangerous Roadways”. It is the only road in the continental US ranked by USA Today’s list of the “World's Most Dangerous Roads”. The automotive blog RoadCrazed and the DangerousRoads.org Rank the Million Dollar Highway as the most dangerous road worldwide. If you are measuring how dangerous a road is by the number of fatal accidents that happened on it the Million Dollar Highway is the winner, with no contest. This is especially astonishing when we consider war zone roads, such as; Kabul-Jalalabad Highway (Afghanistan) and Nanga Parbat Pass (Pakistan) were included in most publications, considerations, and lists. Perhaps, the “Highway to Hell” isn’t such a bad name after all?

On Deep canyons cut into the Andes cordillera from the north to the south of Peru. In order to supply the gold mines, tend their vines or quite simply gain access to their villages, people have no choice but to take the most improbable of roads, hewn out of the rock. Major companies always find their place at the end of the road, attracted by the fabulous natural resources of the country, either under the ground with its wealth of precious metals or in its waters teeming with fish. However, it’s rare for all this wealth to benefit the lowly workers, the men and women who have to bend double to work deep in the shafts, scratching at the earth amidst clouds of ammonia, or risk their lives at the end of a 200’ rope, for a handful of euros. From the Maranon River valley to the Cotahuasi canyon, by way of the Paracas desert, this Impossible Road makes its way through a Peru of magnificent landscapes, but where life comes at a high price…

Deadliest Journeys - Tanzania: Race for Life

Lake Tannganyika in Tanzania, East Africa, is the biggest in the world, and is remarkably beautiful. The Tanzanians have two options to cross it: 20 hours on a pickup truck on a road riddled with potholes or 3 days of sailing on the oldest cargo ship in the world, the LIEMBA. On track, traders try to reach the market but torrential rain disrupts the route. The captain struggles to maintain order.

7 Days in the Most Dangerous Country in the World ????????

Afghanistan is not a country that is easily broken. No matter what death or destruction has happened in this country, life perseveres, and it's a testament to the spirit of the Afghan people. The narratives of good and evil don't always neatly fit over any country, let alone one as complex as Afghanistan.
But it’s the resilience and the warmth of the people that have left the deepest impression.
This journey has reminded me that Afghanistan is more than just headlines; it's a land of contradictions, rich history, and incredible people. It's a place where hope survives, and life goes on, no matter the odds. This country is safe to travel to if you follow the rules and have the correct guides.

Afghanistan has been plagued by decades of conflict, including the Soviet invasion in the 1980s, civil war in the 1990s, and the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. The presence of various armed groups, including the Taliban and other insurgent factions, has led to ongoing violence and instability. Join me as I visit what is considered as the most dangerous country in the world and explore the rich history, diverse culture, and breathtaking landscapes. I'll go beyond the headlines to showcase the true beauty and resilience of the Afghan people. Featuring @BlackmanDaTraveller and @Abzventure.

Bangladesh: People Struggling to Survive in the Most Overpopulated Country in the World

Hey, have you tried an eSIM? Get US$3 off your first eSIM data pack from Airalo. Use code ILYA6216 when you sign up or apply it at checkout.

Bangladesh is a land of troubles: the water here is black, the traffic is insane, the people are poor, and the metro only goes one way; children don’t go to school, because they have to help their parents earn a living, and men sell their girlfriends to brothels. Bangladesh is also a place where ships from all over the world end their “life”, and where manual labor is so cheap that it is getting scary.

With all the problems of Bangladesh, will I be able to see anything good in this small country in South Asia? Let’s find out!

This Is DEATH ROAD in Bolivia - The World's Deadliest Road near La Paz

This is the road of death in Bolivia - known as the world's deadliest road, Death Road has been a curious spot on our bucket list for the longest time. So we booked a Death Road bike tour and decided to tackle the fear face on... This is the 15-Day South America tour we did: ⬇ See below for more details and recommendations ⬇

Welcome to Death Road Bolivia! The name was given to the official most dangerous road in the world, Yungas Road, about an 1.5-hour drive from La Paz. It was officially named the world’s most dangerous road in 1995, with an estimated 200 to 300 people killed on this road every year due to fog, landslides and cliffs that drop up to 1km.

Death Road basically never gets wider than 3metres and sadly there's crosses and memorials to those who have perished there over the years. That's perhaps the craziest thing, there's this deadly road and one of the best things to do in Bolivia is to cycle down it?

Truth is, these Death Road bike tours are really safe because the road is a lot safer now than it ever was. With the new paved path through the mountains, the old Yungas Road isn't really used all the much except for these kind of cycling tours.

Either way, one of the crazier things we've ever done and a highlight of our time in Bolivia and La Paz! We hope you enjoy this random little travel vlog of our adventures.

These South America travels were filmed in October 2023, an amazing time of year to visit. We spent a month exploring Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and these travel vlogs are to share our experience of the first time touching the continent... safe to say we loved it! Over that time we took 2 different tours with G Adventures and that saved our ass in more ways than one - stress free, safer, all the travel advice we needed, transport pre-arranged and an epic group of people to travel with. If you plan on travelling South America (or anywhere else in the world actually!) take a look here: Also, consider using some of our links and recommendations from the below to support the channel. Deadliest Journeys - Congo: The Last Train in Katanga

In Katanga more than 2000 people, three times the train's capacity, are squeezing in the carriages of the Swallow. Conditions are precarious on the train, which crosses the whole country in more than a week, stopping in several villages. But the journey isn't easy. The rails are poorly maintained, accidents frequent and the journey is risky.

00:00 The majority of roads in the Congo are either impossible to traverse or simply non-existent. Unfortunately, air travel, the only dependable mode of transportation, remains inaccessible to the Congolese population.
04:25 In the southern region, the Hirondelle train embarks on a journey that spans half the country, connecting Lubumbashi, the capital of Katanga, to Ilebo. This train serves as the sole lifeline for the most isolated villages.
13:40 During the rainy season, the roads become completely impassable.
20:00 Some individuals resort to crossing the country on bicycles in order to sell their goods.
27:15 Trains are frequently halted to accommodate hurried passengers.
31:21 Within the Congo, certain territories are still governed by traditional kings.
37:40 On dilapidated roads, bicycles require frequent repairs.
44:17 Regularly targeted by saboteurs, traffickers bring the train to a halt, disrupting its operations.

The Most Dangerous Roads In The World.

Many roads around the world are plagued by unsafe speed limits and poor design, but few exhibit the kind of dangerous conditions that have caused drivers to slip on icy roads or fall thousands of kilometers to their deaths.

In places like China, Bolivia, and Alaska, drivers may encounter narrow, unpaved highways prone to landslides, avalanches, and steep mountainous terrain. These roads are often referred to as the most dangerous roads in the world, and some even have the word death in their nicknames.
