Train to Jungfraujoch | Switzerland’s Jungfrau Region in the winter - By cogwheel train from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch - the highest railway station of Europe at 11,782ft, also called Top of Europe | Swiss Mountain Experience. Along the way this train from Jungfrau Railways stops at the stations Eigergletscher and Eismeer. After departing the station of Eigergletscher the train is entering a tunnel with a length of 4.3 Miles (7 kilometre). This tunnel leads you through the mountains Eiger and Mönch to Jungfraujoch. At this top there is the Jungfrauplateau and also the “Sphinx observatory”. This astronomical observatory is one of the highest observatorys in the world. At Jungfraujoch there is a stunning breathtaking far-sightedness over the Swiss Alps and the Aletsch Glacier. The Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn Region is part of the Unesco World Heritage Site. To build the Jungfrau Railways, from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch, took about 16 years and it was initiated by Adolf Guyer-Zeller. The first trains from JB started in August 1912. From Kleine Scheidegg there is a train connection from Wengernalp Railway to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Nice to know is that the Wengernalpbahn is world’s longest rackwheel / cogwheel railway with a total length of 19.11 kilometres (11.87 miles). From Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald there is a direct train connection to Interlaken-Ost via Zweilütschienen and Wilderswil.

Onderweg stopt deze trein van de Jungfraubahn op de stations Eigergletscher en Eismeer. Na het station Eigergletscher te hebben verlaten, gaat de trein een tunnel in met een lengte van 7 kilometer. In this Switzerland summer train journey video, we present the scenic route between Interlaken and Grindelwald villages of Switzerland in true 4K 60fps HDR resolution. Route shown between Interlaken and Zweilütschinen remains same for people traveling to Lauterbrunnen from Interlaken station. As a rule, two trains are coupled together until Zweilütschinen, where they are separated. One train travels onwards to Grindelwald, and the other to Lauterbrunnen. Enjoy the journey through soothing hilly green landscape. Cheers!
Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren, and Gimmelwald are one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland, situated in the Bernese Overland region. The latter is immensely surrounded by the mountains and glaciers. To reach these villages as well as for going to Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, one needs to board Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) from Interlaken Ost station (if one is not traveling by car or walking/hiking). BOB Railway is a narrow-gauge mountain railway that runs only in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. This Railway, with its blue-yellow trains, opens up the Lütschinen valleys and connects Interlaken, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen villages.

The HIGHEST Railway in Europe! | Jungfraujoch Switzerland Top of Europe | Eiger Express Grindelwald

We're back in Switzerland's Jungfrau region, and today we're visiting the HIGHEST railway in all of Europe - Jungfraujoch! This impressive railway station is 3,454 m above sea level and takes over two hours to reach from Interlaken.
We start our journey to Jungfraujoch by riding the train from Interlaken to Grindelwald, where we switch over to the new (and very impressive) Eiger Express. This cable car opened in 2021 and is 6,483 m long. It only takes 15 minutes to reach the Eigergletscher station, instead of 45 minutes, which is how long it takes to ride the train from Grindelwald to Eigergletscher.
This cable car is extremely nice and offers outstanding views of the area, but we also love the nostalgia and experience of taking the train. You can't go wrong either way!
After arriving in Eigergletscher, we boarded the Jungfraubahn to the top of Europe!! This train is the gateway to Jungfraujoch and is only accessible with a special ticket or the Top of Europe pass (which is what we have). To do this entire trip from Interlaken will cost over $200 per person, so we recommend buying a Swiss travel pass to help with costs.
Once at the top, there's plenty of activities! We visited the ice palace, Alpine sensation, chocolate heaven, and more!
You could easily spend all day here, so plan on this being a full day excursion, especially if there's nice weather out.
Our route down was a bit different than on the way up. We went down via Grindelwald Terminal, but then connected on to Mannlichen and Wengen again - this time for giant chess.
For dinner tonight we had our favorite budget meal - pasta! Swiss grocery store prices are similar to other cities, so this is the most affordable option for food.

Switzerland Train Journey l Interlaken to Jungfraujoch

It was dream come true for us. We took a train for Jungfrau ( or Jungfraujoch) from Interlaken East. The train journey was amazing. The landscape was serene and beautiful. It was once in a lifetime experience. It is a must visit if you visit Switzerland.
The cost of ticket for this train journey was around CHF 235 (Rs.16000 per person). Children below 6 years were allowed free.
The weather at the top was very cold. It was around zero degree in the first week of June. So pack in your warm clothes before you set out.
Food was a major concern for us especially because we are vegetarians. But we were not disappointed. Would you believe what we found!! The menu display cards were in Hindi. We found Indian Masala Chai (Tea) and Vegetable sandwich to eat. So Indian tourists need not worry.

ये हमारे लिए सपने जैसा था। हमने स्विट्जरलैंड के इंटरलाकेन (पूर्व) से युंगफ्राउ के लिए ट्रेन पकड़ी। ट्रेन यात्रा बेहतरीन थी। पहाड़ और नदी सब कुछ बहुत सुंदर था। ऐसा अनुभव जीवन में कभी कभी ही मिलता है। अगर आप स्विट्जरलैंड जाएं तो यहां जाना जरूरी है।
इस ट्रेन यात्रा का खर्च 235 स्विस फ्रैंक यानि कि भारतीय मुद्रा के हिसाब से 16 हजार रु. प्रति व्यक्ति है। 6 साल से छोटे बच्चे का टिकट नहीं लगता।
युंगफ्राउ में जबर्दस्त ठंड थी। जून के पहले हफ्ते में तापमान शून्य डिग्री था। ऐसे में अगर आप गर्मियों की छुट्टी में भी जा रहे हों तो यहां पर गरम कपड़े लेकर जाएं।
भोजन हमारे लिए एक अहम मुद्दा था क्योंकि हम शाकाहारी थे। लेकिन हमें निराशा नहीं हुई। क्या आप विश्वास करेंगे कि हमने क्या देखा? - जो मेन्यू कार्ड थे वो हिंदी में थे। हमें वहां भारतीय मसाला चाय और वेजिटेबल सैंडविच खाने को मिला। इसलिए भारतीय पर्यटकों को चिंता करने की जरूरत नहीं है।

Switzerland - Jungfraujoch 2019 (Pt.2) - Train to the Top of Europe
In this second part of our journey, we change trains from the Grindelwald train to the Jungfraubahn, the train which will take us to the Jungfraujoch Observatory at an altitude of 3454 metres (11332 feet).
The hub of the system is at Kleine Scheidegg, the junction between the Jungfraubahn and the lines to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. It is the base for all supplies to the many shops and restaurants at the summit and we see a loaded freight train, presumably, taking fresh supplies of chocolate and Rolex watches!!
There are a few stops on the way, including Eiger Gletscher (or Glacier). I would recommend (if you are able bodied) that you get off the train here on the way down and walk down to Kleine Scheidegg. It's a great opportunity to experience the high Alps on a personal basis.
The last stop before the summit is Eismeer, where the train pauses for five minutes, so that all passengers can get out and look at the view of the glaciers through the large glass windows.
