What is there to do in Torrey Pines? Visit the golf course, state reserve, gliderport, lodge and some authentic San Diego Mexican Food!
Jaycation visits Torrey Pines and explores the many recreational options you have when visiting this beautiful stretch of cliffs in San Diego County! We start off at the Torrey Pines Gliderport and enjoy the views of the Cliffs and the infamous Blacks Beach down in the bottom. After exploring the Gliderport we drive up Torrey Pines Road to the Famous Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course. At the Golf Course is the beautiful Torrey Pines Lodge which is a popular places for wedding receptions and events.
After a visit to Torrey Pines Lodge we head down towards Torrey Pines State Beach and grab some lunch at Roberto's Very Mexican Food. We have a California Burrito with an amazing view of the Torrey Pines Nature Reserve.
At the hiking trail we wander around the various trails and find some landmarks like the Red Butte, Razor Point and the famous Beach trail that leads all the way down to Torrey Pines State Beach. One of the best hikes in San Diego, California!

Hiking at Torrey Pines Natural Reserve | Guy Fleming Trail
Guy Fleming Trail is the first loop trail you will come across coming from bottom parking lot. There are lots of wild flowers and cacti and you can also enjoy the 2 scenic overlooks with panoramic views. The loop is only about 0.8 miles but we logged about 2 miles hiking from the bottom parking lot with 282 feet elevation. This short hike took us about 50 minutes then we got to enjoy the cool breeze and stunning sound of the waves.
Torrey Pines and Broken Hill Trail Guide | San Diego Hikes
A San Diego Favorite, this week's trail guide focuses on Torrey Pines and Broken Hill Loop. We kick things off at the visitor center, where you can grab a trail map and learn about the area's unique flora and fauna. The trails here cater to all levels of hikers, from easygoing walkers to more experienced trekkers.
Heading out on the loop, you'll be greeted by the salty sea breeze and the soothing sound of crashing waves. Keep an eye out for those iconic Torrey pines – they're the rarest pine species in the United States and only grow here and on Santa Rosa Island.
As we venture along the trail, you'll gradually gain some elevation, offering you panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean. It's not just about the views, though; the unique geology of Broken Hill is beautiful. The exposed sandstone formations look like nature's sculptures.
This loop is around three miles long, and the path is well-marked, making it an enjoyable hike for all ages. Be sure to pack some sunscreen and water, especially on those sunny San Diego days!
