The Togolese Republic was proclaimed on 27 April 1960. In the first presidential elections in 1961, Sylvanus Olympio became the first president, gaining 100% of the vote in elections boycotted by the opposition. On 9 April 1961, the Constitution of the Togolese Republic was adopted, according to which the supreme legislative body was the National Assembly of Togo. Hov Africa Tv
In December 1961, leaders of opposition parties were arrested because they were accused of the preparation of an anti-government conspiracy. A decree was issued on the dissolution of the opposition parties. Olympio tried to reduce dependence on France by establishing cooperation with the United States, the United Kingdom, and West Germany. He also rejected the efforts of French soldiers who were demobilized after the Algerian War and tried to get a position in the Togolese army. These factors eventually led to a military coup on 13 January 1963, during which he was assassinated by a group of soldiers under the direction of Sergeant Gnassingbé Eyadéma.[15] A state of emergency was declared in Togo, please help. clap to them,

Getting to Lome, Togo and the Seeds of Malaria
Today I'm driving through the Volta Region of Ghana and headed into to Togo. I've woken up this morning with a pounding headache and although I don't realize it yet, I have malaria. Still, despite my discomfort, I push towards Togo passing through some fantastic landscapes through eastern Ghana. I take a couple roads I didn't plan and am glad I did as they are really the first bits of twist and turn driving I've had I Africa so far. I cross into Togo despite not having the proper paperwork to drive in the country and I had to pay two fines to be allowed in to Togo. Really, I think in this part of Africa, you can get away with almost anything if you have a bit of money.
Anyways, I arrive at Chez Alice in Lome, Togo and immediately put myself to bed and hope that I feel better in the morning. Teaser: I don't!

What a great opportunity to work with Code Sangala, a Malawian musician and well known broadcaster, who has a passion for using his talent and experience to better the lives of others. Code, supported by a visiting Musician from the U.K, Annemarie Quinn has initiated a campaign to rebuild and refurbish the Children's Accidents and Emergency Ward of the children’s accident and emergency (A&E) department at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre, Malawi, in a way that will promote the dignity and well-being of Malawi's children and their caregivers. He is currently touring districts throughout Malawi on a Music Against Malaria tour and donating the proceeds towards this cause.
