How New York’s Best Pizzeria Makes 140,000 Pizzas In Its Coal-Fired Oven Every Year | Big Batches
Grimaldi's is a legendary pizzeria in New York City known for its authentic New York-style coal-oven pizza. Over the past 30 years, it has gained the admiration of both tourists and locals. Recently, Joe Avella, a host of Insider's Food Tours, named it the best in New York City:
But what truly sets the pizzeria apart is its production volume and team. Each day, veteran pizzaiolos hand-stretch 500 pies, expertly slice 200 pounds of fresh mozzarella, and manage a 1,000-degree oven.
While the pizzeria has changed hands over the years and expanded to more than 45 locations across the United States, the Brooklyn flagship has preserved the traditional recipes and kept most of its original staff.
We visited Grimaldi's flagship to see how it makes its pizzas in such big batches.

The Best Pepperoni Pizza In NYC | Best In Town | Food Insider
Best in Town (formerly known as Best of the Best) is BACK for a limited-run season 3. In this episode, Herrine Ro and Erin Kommor search New York City to find the best pepperoni pizza. They visit Prince Street Pizza to try the Spicy Spring, Rubirosa to eat the Tie Dye Roni Pie, and Emily to try two different versions of their pepperoni pizza, The Colony. In the end, they declare which place is the best in town.
Editor’s Note: Insider visited these restaurants in December 2019. The restaurants are all currently closed to dine-in service due to the ongoing pandemic, but have various takeout and delivery options.
Additionally, the owners of Prince Street Pizza have stepped down from the restaurant's day-to-day operations after offensive and racist social media interactions were uncovered.

How Di Fara Became A New York Pizza Institution | Legendary Eats
Di Fara Pizza was opened in 1965 by Domenico DeMarco, an Italian immigrant and known workaholic who’s barely taken a day off in over 50 years. With fans like Leonardo DiCaprio and the late Anthony Bourdain, Di Fara's $5 slice and infamously long wait times are worth it. Producer Spencer Alben visits the shop, now mostly run by Dom’s kids, to learn about their history, and try their legendary pizza for herself.
Correction: One of the DeMarco kids is incorrectly labeled as Michael DeMarco. It is actually Dominick DeMarco, Jr. who appears in the video. Insider regrets the error.
