Big River Steampunk Festival 2022 ~ Doc Phineas Kastle ~ Hannibal, Missouri
We went to the 8th Annual Big River Steampunk Festival in Hannibal Missouri. It is one of, if not THE largest steampunk convention in the US. Hosted by Doc Phineas Kastle, the Skallywags, and lots of local talent, we watched teacup dueling, participated in a costume contest, and tried homeade soda. Christian tried his hand at nerf gun dueling, and Marissa competed in the 1st Annual Steampunk's Got Talent competition. How did she do?? You'll have to watch and see!

Big Rivers Christmas 2023
Mark your calendar for the premier 2023 BIG Rivers Christmas event! Big Rivers is partnering with Dasher's Lightshow Houston to present THE holiday event of the season!
Guests will enjoy multiple Christmas activities found throughout the 85-acre park! This amazing event will feature not only the miles of lights synced to festive holiday music in the Christmas Drive Thru …but 2023 also introduces a walk-through display of Christmas lights, a 12k sq ft inflatable obstacle course, and even a visit with Santa! Entertain the whole family with live music provided by local guest artists on select nights. Additional festive activities and amusement rides will also be available during the event.
The event kicks off Friday, November 17th and continues through New Years Eve. Tickets are available NOW:
(2023 AND 2024 Big Rivers Season Passholders will receive free admission to the festival’s walk-through portion and amusement rides. Tickets for the Drive-Thru light display are available for an additional fee.)

Movie Park Germany - Dora’s Big River Adventure - Onride (Camcorder & Licht POV / 50 fps)
Beleuchtetes Onride der Wildwasserbahn „Dora’s Big River Adventure“ im Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. Die Anlage des italienischen Herstellers Preston und Barbieri wurde 2008 als Erweiterung des Nicklands errichtet. Thematisch ist die Attraktion an die Kinderserie Dora des Senders Nickelodeon angelehnt, mit dem eine Kooperation seitens des Movie Parks besteht. Der Streckenverlauf des Fahrgeschäfts ist teilweise in einem rosafarbenen, künstlichen Gebirge untergebracht, das über einen Wasserfall verfügt.
Nach Verlassen der Station steuert das Boot zunächst in das Gebirge hinein, um im Inneren eine 180°-Rechtskurve zu durchfahren. Die Innenwände des Bergmassivs sind punktuell von Lasern angestrahlt. Anschließend wird das Boot von einem Förderband wieder aus dem Berg gezogen und auf eine Höhe von 6 m gebracht, um dann die erste der beiden Abfahrten hinunterzufahren. Am Fuße der Schussfahrt durchfährt das Boot eine kleine, mit Sprühnebel gefüllte Höhle. Nun lenkt das Boot in eine 180°-Linkskurve ein und fährt dann auf den zweiten Transportlift zu. Auf ihm legt es eine Höhendifferenz von 13 m zurück. Oben angekommen, startet es eine Gravitationsfahrt auf seinen vier Laufrädern durch eine weitere 180°-Linkskurve, um anschließend die zweite und letzte Abfahrt hinunterzufahren. Beim Bremsen, welches durch das Wasser geschieht, wird Wasser aus Düsen mehrere Meter hochgesprüht und trifft dann, je nach Wetterlage, auch die Zuschauer des Fahrgeschäfts. Es folgt die Rückfahrt zum Stationsbereich.
Die Fahrt wurde zugunsten des besseren Tons mit einem Camcorder ohne Wasserschutzhülle aufgenommen.

Illuminated onride on the log flume in the Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. The plant of the Italian manufacturer Preston and Barbieri was built in 2008 as an extension of Nickland. Thematically, the attraction is based on the children's series Dora by the broadcaster Nickelodeon, with which there is a cooperation on the part of the Movie Park. The route of the ride is partially housed in a pink, artificial mountain, which has a waterfall.
The ride was recorded in favor of the better sound with a camcorder without water jacket.
