10 Interesting And Unique Facts About Tanzania

Tanzania is found in East Africa, and the country shares its borders with Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, DRC, Burundi, Comoro islands, and Rwanda. The country also has a coastline along the Indian Ocean. The name Tanzania is a compound word which was created after the two states of Tanganyika and Zanzibar were combined to create one country, and the name was also changed to Tanzania. The name Tanganyika is derived from Swahili words Tanga which mean sail and Nyika which means wilderness or plains. The name translates loosely to sail in the wilderness. On the other hand, Zanzibar comes from two words; Zenji which means black in the local dialect and Barr which means coast or shore in the Arabic language.

8 DAYS IN TANZANIA (Africa's Best Country!) ????????

I'M SO HAPPY that I made it back to the incredible East African nation of TANZANIA! My previous (and only) visit here was back in Jan 2018, where I only visited the island of Zanzibar. But I really missed out because the people, culture, food and nature on the mainland is just about as good as you can find anywhere on this planet.

My friends at Qatar Airways reached out and offered to fly me and Deanna on business class to Tanzania, and we couldn't say no! I've never had a better flying experience in my life... and Tanzania was just amazing! We began our trip in Arusha, then went to Ngorongoro Conservation area before heading deep into the Serengeti for 3 nights and finally ending in a town called Moshi. Tanzania is a phenomenal country inside and out, and I can't wait to show you more of this country over the coming 2 weeks!

What is ZANZIBAR (Tanzania)?!

HELLO!! Sorry you haven’t heard from me in a few days... I’ve been having WAY too much fun on this beautiful (and seriously underrated) island called ZANZIBAR in TANZANIA to kick off my 2 month, 14-country Africa trip.

Did you know that the phrase “Hakuna Matata” (from the Lion King) actually means “No Worries” in Swahili?! Moreover, did you know that Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, was born and raised here? There’s so much more uniqueness to this island that I can’t wait to share with you!

I’ve spent the last 3 days in Zanzibar with a few of my best friends from home and a new local friend, Mandela. I cannot believe how perfect these white sand beaches are, combined with a very simple life, lots of fresh fruit (PINEAPPLES) and Rastafarian beach parties — I could easily spend a few months here.

In this video, I aim to educate you about the diverse history of Zanzibar, show you some fun activities happening around the island, and tell you what to expect if you are planning to come here.

Have you ever been to Zanzibar?

Music: Audio Autix

P.S - Watch until the very end to learn some Swahili words!!!
