The King of Rolê in Brazil! Female solo travel and Brazilian negative stereotypes!
Guys Visit Brazil is doing a competition called ‘The king of Rolê’ to win an all expenses paid trip all around Brazil to learn how Brazilians Rolê. Rolê is a Brazilian expression that loosely translates to “going for a walk”. Going for a “rolê” means to have fun, to make friends, to enjoy life. My idea for this trip is to 1. Film it to debunk any negative stereotypes of Brazil. A lot of people (who haven’t travelled there) think it’s a dangerous violent place when it is a beautiful, colourful vibrant country with incredible people and food. Secondly, I have never been travelling on my own before since Nick, my husband went travelling before we met but I’ve only travelled with him. I’d really love to prove it to myself that I can travel alone as a solo female to empower other women to do the same.
