In today's video, I will be traveling to Quito, Ecuador! Quito is the capital of Ecuador, with an estimated population of 2.8 million in its metropolitan area. It is also the capital of the province of Pichincha. Quito is located in a valley on the eastern slopes of Pichincha, an active stratovolcano in the Andes, at an elevation of 2,850 m (9,350 ft), making it the second-highest capital city in the world. It is also near the large volcano or Cotopaxi which tourists flock to hike the volcano yearly.
From Banos, Ecuador, I took the bus and headed to Quito. When I arrived, I headed straight to El TeleferiQo, a gondola lift running from the edge of the city center up the east side of Pichincha Volcano to lookout Cruz Loma. It is one of the highest aerial lifts in the world, rising from 3,117 m (10,226 ft) to 3,945 m. Afterward, I then headed to La Mitad del Mundo and visited the Museo Intinan along the way. There, I walked along the equatorial line, balanced an egg, and learned about the rotational forces of the global at the equator, in the northern, and southern hemispheres.
Lastly, I headed to The Basilica del Voto Nacional in Quito and then walked around the city center in Centro Historico. The Centro Historico in Quito is also a UNESCO site. Join me on this adventure in the capital of one of the world's most biologically diverse countries, Quito, Ecuador!

In this video, we will share with you where to explore Quito, the Capital of Ecuador. Good morning guys, today we are going to explore Quito. I am super excited our first stop is? La Basilica in Quito. Alright, let’s get ready because our Uber is downstairs waiting for us. We are driving through the streets of Quito, Ecuador. How awesome is that? We are here in Basilica, it is a catholic church in the old town and they declare it as a UNESCO site. It’s such a beautiful Catedral. I love it and can’t wait to go explore. We are going to go up to the tower. That sounds exciting. Alright, it’s time to do some climbing. We had such a lovely time exploring this beautiful church.
Now it’s time for a break and we are going to grab a bite to eat at the Panorama Restaurant. The food was delicious, and the owners were so welcoming.
The next location we are going to explore in Quito is El Panecillo. Check this out 656 feet tall. Sits on a hill in the center of Quito and you can view the statue pretty much anywhere in the city. It is actually the largest Aluminum statue in the world. It’s also the tallest wing representation of the Virgin Mary. She is beautiful and we are going to explore. Wow, what a beauty. We enjoyed our time here exploring El Panecillo.
It is time to visit the Telefériqo. We are going to touch the sky. I am on top of the world. The views are exceptionally beautiful. We explored and meet some new friends (llamas). We also got on a swing, felt like we were in the clouds. There was so much to do here. You can literally spend the entire day here. Our time up here was just unforgettable.
We had such an awesome day exploring Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Hope you enjoyed it as well.

► WHO WE ARE?
We are Gladys and Kenny, from Long Island, NY. We've always had a passion for traveling. We finally made our dreams a reality. In January 2018 we downsized and take the necessary steps to pursue our dream, to travel full time for as long as we can. We rented our house, moved into our attached studio apartment, and continued to travel on a part-time basis until it prepared us for full-time travel. On June 30, 2019, we left to travel the world full-time. The first stop was Bali, Indonesia. It wasn't a simple decision to leave our friends and family. However, you only live once and we didn't want to live with any regrets. We want to document our journey, so we recently did so with vlogs on YouTube and Social Media.
