Surfing in southern Morocco: 'You could find the wave of your life'
Once the preseve of professional surfers, film crews and magazine photographers, a pioneering tour is opening up the once inacessable southern coast line to the average surfer in the search for unsurfed waves. This was the first ever tour of its kind, aimed at the intermediate surfer looking for adventure, uncrowded peak along the hundreds of miles of uncharted, empty coastline.

Discover Imsouane Morocco - bucket list surf spots - Surfing the longest wave in Morocco
I discovered Imsouane bay almost over two decades ago and have been going back ever since. In Imsouane you probably have one of the longest rights in Africa. A killer wave if you are in to longboarding. On the other side of Imsouane bay you have another gem of a surf spot called cathedral point. A powerful right hander, that handles some size, but unfortunately it wasn't working the day I went to Imsouane bay last December on our roadtrip through Morocco.
Imsouane village has changed a lot and I really mean a lot over the last two decades, but now surf has changed it and brought loads of surf tourism and jobs to the village. Really like how Imsouane evolved the last 20 years and a must visit if you want to catch some awesome surf in Morocco in an unforgettable location and setting. Put it on your bucket list!

Balian’s A-frame waves provide a forgiving left and a faster right. The runoff from the river has created a deep channel that allows for an easy paddle.

3 to 5 feet is typical.
It’s almost always bigger here than in the South.
If other spots are working, you’ll have bigger waves with less of a crowd at Balian.
Sunrise and sunset sessions are usually surfed only by those staying locally.
The wave is much more forgiving than other spots in Bali,
although the waves are usually a lot bigger than other spots.
Food and lodging are within walking distance.
