Gulmarg is so beautiful! But one thing that people don't know about is that visiting Gulmarg, Kashmir is even possible over a slightly longer weekend if you have a Friday off. And it is a very accessible place if you take a flight to Srinagar. One of the highlights of the place is that it is a very developed winter destination for pursuing sports like Skiing and Snowboarding.
Having said that, I feel like Kashmir is also a very safe place for tourism and one must visit without any doubts that you will have a wonderful experience because of the warm and welcoming locals.

Gulmarg (Hindustani pronunciation: [gʊlmərɡ]), known as Gulmarag[4] (Kashmiri pronunciation: [ɡulmarɨɡ] ; lit. 'meadow of flowers')[5] in Kashmiri, is a town, a hill station, a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, India.[6][7]The Distance 31 Km from Baramulla and 49 Km from Srinagar. The town is situated in the Pir Panjal Range in the Western Himalayas and lies within the boundaries of Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary.
Originally called Gauri Marg (meaning the path of Devi Gauri),[9][10] in the 1500s it was changed to 'Gulmarg' by Yousuf Shah of the Chak dynasty.[11] Gulmarg is now interpreted as 'meadow of flowers'
Due to its high elevation, Gulmarg has a humid continental climate where the wet winter season sees heavy snowfall, especially for its latitude. Summers are moderate in temperature and length, whereas shoulder seasons are relatively cool.

An Eagle Eye view of winter wonderland of India, Gulmarg. A view from above clearly depicts the beauty of this place. Needless to say, it is ultimate skiing and snowboarding destination of the world. It has the worlds highest rope way. Again and again, I keep looking at these snow covered peaks with pines trees on there backs. This is not a travel guide or a vlog but it will certainly make you feel like going to this place.

Glimpse of Gulmarg | Paradise on Earth 4K
Nature has endowed Kashmir with implausible beauty and is rightly called “Paradise on Earth”. Kashmir is resplendent with stunning Chinar trees that turn the entire valley yellow and red when the autumn arrives, silver lakes that turn golden at the crack of dawn, and crystal blue rivers that are sourced from the icy mountains. The beautiful scenes and the unspoiled nature provide such a mesmerizing view that a person feels that he has come into another place.
Before Kashmir became a valley it was a huge lake known as the Karewa Lake. The valley lies between the Karakoram Range and the Pir Panjal formed when the lake was drained during tectonic shift. It acquired the name of paradise on earth because of its uncanny resemblance with the garden of Eden described in religious and folk texts. The abundance of nature and natural resources make Kashmir the muse of multiple historical references in literature and memoirs.
Kashmir found itself to be named differently in different places, all highlighting its unusual natural beauty and uniqueness. The name Kashmir means the desiccated land (Ka= water, shimeera= desiccated) from its formation. The Greek attempt to write the same word gave it the name Kaspeiria. Chinese monks who visited Kashmir in 631 AD called it Kia-shi-mi-lo. In Tibet, the valley is known by the name Khachal.
