During the summer in Japan, we took the train to the mountainous Gunma Prefecture and stayed at a ryokan (a traditional Japanese inn with communal baths). Gunma is known for its onsen (hot springs) and there are plenty of ryokans, but we give Sekizenkan a shot. Can you believe it's over 300 years old? And the red bridge served as a model for Ghibli Studio's Spirited Away.

The neighborhood is filled with greenery and calm. No crowds when we went, so fellow introverts, you will especially love it here! Made up of 3 buildings and 8 floors, Sekizenkan has at least 6 main bathing options. Some bathhouses are communal while others are private. Some are mixed gender, others have separate baths for men and women. Depending on your room type, you may get a private bath as well. If you need time away from the city and want to take it slow, this is the place. Watch the video for the full tour! We even go through a mysterious tunnel.

Staying at Japanese Secret Ryokan with 4 Private Onsen in Izu♨️ | Yugashima Tatsuta | ASMR

The best part of traveling in Japan is a traditional tatami rooms and Onsen(hot springs)♨️ We stayed at a onsen ryokan with four private open-air baths! The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are polite. It was a really lovely trip.
This area is famous for wasabi, so I ate wasabi for dinner, treats, and breakfast. It was so delicious! In particular, eating breakfast under a kotatsu while looking at the river was the best. For those who want to stay at a Japanese ryokan with a private bath, this is highly recommended!

We stayed at a hot spring inn (onsen ryokan) that can only be reached by boat⛴ There are only inns on the island, and all rooms have ocean views. It's a special place!! It is a secret hideaway, so you can spend your time in a very quiet and elegant way. The communal open-air bath has been ranked as the most beautiful open-air bath in Japan. The guest room also has an open-air bath, and I was able to enjoy it with my husband, which was a really wonderful time???? I highly recommend this ryokan!????✨

$50 Vs. $500 Ryokan Hotel in Hakone, Japan | Kaiseki Dinner & Onsen Experience

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a $50 Ryokan and a $500 Ryokan experience in Hakone, Japan? The difference is quite significant ranging from amenities like a private onsen, your own nakai (Japanese maid), a Japanese kaiseki lunch & dinner and even a private pickup and drop off van. Subscribe to my channel ► for weekly videos!

First off you may wonder, what is a ryokan? A ryokan is a type of traditional Japanese inn that typically feature tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and other public areas where visitors may wear yukata and talk with the owner.

Photos of my experience:

It had been my dream for over a decade to stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan in Hakone. So, I was extremely pumped to jump into my traditional Japanese robe the minute I walked into the agari-kamachi (or entrance room). The ryokan did include being served by a nakai, a Japanese house maid who serves you green tea, dinner, breakfast and makes the futons ready for sleeping (Japanese sleeping quilts)

The best thing about staying at a luxurious ryokan is the kaiseki dinner which is a traditional Japanese multi-course dinner with a wide variety of Japanese dishes consisting primarily out of vegetables with fish and meat all served on tiny dishes and in bit sizes. During the kaiseki dinner you sit on zaisu which are legless chairs which can be uncomfortable to sit on for non-Japanese people.

The luxurious ryokan did include a fancy onsen (Japanese hot spring) on the rooftop which is one of the most relaxing experiences you can have in Japan.

To do a proper comparison I stayed a cheap $50 hotel as well. Gaku Guesthouse offers a Japanese style room with sleeping futons, clean amenities including a laundry machine and a fancy Japanese bidet toilet but also a brand-new billiards table in the garage. Gaku Guesthouse is a great place to meet other travelers as well.

I was surprised how quiet it was in the Japanese mountains compared to the inner city of Tokyo.

Make sure to stay at least 1 night at a luxurious ryokan in Hakone to complete your journey to Japan. You'll have incredible stories to share with your friends and family.

Japanese Onsen Ryokan Where You Can Bathe with Snow Monkeys????♨️ | Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park | ASMR

Snow Monkey Park is a park located in Nagano, Japan for observing wild Japanese monkeys. It is a tourist spot, known for its wild monkeys soaking in hot springs in winter????♨️
We stayed at a hot spring inn called Jigokudani Korakukan, which is the closest to Snow Monkey Park. The ryokan has open-air baths, and wild monkeys also come, so if you're lucky, you can bathe together! It is a very nice ryokan with a long history and a family atmosphere. I was very moved when I took a bath with a monkey. I have never seen monkeys so close!
Snow monkeys are famous, but not many people know that there are hot springs where you can bathe with wild monkeys. At Korakukan, you can enjoy the hot springs without staying overnight until 3:00 pm, so be sure to check it out. Don't forget your swimsuit!

What a $1200 Japanese Luxury Ryokan Hotel Stay is like

Japan Luxury Hotel Tour & Experience of a Japanese Ryokan with a private onsen in the room. Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu located in the Izu area is perched right in front of the beach offering a serene atmosphere with the soothing sound of the ocean waves. It’s known for its exceptional dining experience, top level service and stylish guest rooms with private onsen baths so we knew we couldn’t go wrong here. While standard rooms are available at a rate of around 26,500 yen per person, we decided to go all in for their 160,000 yen 1200 dollar luxury suite with an in-room private onsen bath to see what it’s all about. Yes, we paid for this trip. If you are looking to travel to Japan or taking trip outside of Tokyo to experience Japan's omotenashi hotel culture, then this hotel would be a great place to check out. So the room itself is quite spacious in Japan at 120 ㎡ (1300 ft²), which includes a Japanese style tatami room, living room with an ocean view, a bedroom with twin beds…and in-room private onsen. Japanese Ryokan hotels typically use local area ingredients and specialties in their food courses. So in this case, we were presented with an assortment of local seafood which we’re more than happy to enjoy.

Staying at a Traditional Japanese Inn and Hot Springs in Fukushima

Our Adventure Race team stayed at a traditional Japanese inn nearby the race location. It was my first time at this type of inn with nice meals and outdoor hot springs. Thanks to my new friends for making it a trip to remember!
