Located in the southern region of the country in Sesriem, Sossusvlei is set within the heart of the park. Sossusvlei itself refers to the clay pan or 'vlei' (an Afrikaans word meaning ‘valley’ or ‘pan’) that is created by a river that flows through the Namib Desert every 5 to 10 years. Sesriem an sich, also der Ort wo wir übernachtet hatten (siehe voriges Video) und vor allem Sossusvlei und Deadvlei haben uns extrem gut gefallen.
Hier ist zwar der Tourismus wieder spürbar, aber wie im Video zu sehen, waren außer uns nie viele Menschen vor Ort.
Die größten Sanddünen der Welt und ebenso Deadvlei, das Tal des Todes haben uns unglaublich gut gefallen!
Unserer Meinung nach sollte hier jeder Namibia-Reisende her kommen!
Definitiv Highlights auf unserem Namibia Camping Roadtrip!
Nach dem kleinen Ausflug ging es weiter nach Solitaire.

Driving from WINDHOEK TO SOSSUSVLEI | Namibia
Not sure how to drive from Windhoek to Sossusvlei or what to expect along the way? get in the car with me and drive along this amazing route.
We start from Windhoek, head south to Rehoboth, go onto the gravel past Namibgrens and down the Spreetshoogte pass, the steepest in Namibia. From there it is on to Solitaire for the best apple pie and cream in the country, followed by Sesriem and the final 65km to Sossusvlei.

An early start from the Lodge to enter the Namib-Naukluft Park at sunrise, while the temperature is still mild and when the dune contrasts are at their best. You will travel in one of our all-terrain URI Gameviewer vehicles, custom-built in Namibia for the Lodge, with your own specially trained guide who will share all his knowledge of the area, animals, plant life and much more with you.
Regular stops are made on the spectacular ±60 kilometre drive through the dune corridor down to the Vlei to gain information or take in the vistas. At Dune 45, we make a stop to view the the world's most photographed dune. Further along, a gradual 2,6 kilometer round-trip guided walk up to Dead Vlei is a must for the healthy visitors. The more energetic have the opportunity to climb to the upper ridge of Big Daddy Dune, one of the highest dunes in this area! We spend time exploring Sossusvlei before returning to the Lodge.

Sossusvlei Lodge
The Odyssey group spent 2 nights in this luxurious Namib desert resort. The lodge was adobe bricks and tents similar to those of the Bedouin. The lights are solar-powered, and dim. The 45 tent rooms are a long treck from the Lodge Our room was almost the last at the end of the path. Every night we enjoyed the sounds of barking geckos: at 3:00 am its something to hear to be believed. Someone's knocking at my door!
